"NO! NO! NO! I'M NOT DONE YET! PLEASE WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW! Why am I here, I am not strong enough, I have been trying and trying to raise him, but I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH! I thought that the more I worked here the stronger I could become, then go back, get the book and try again. He will rise, I am nearly there." Falami is screeming and paniced.
Talinian turns to the half-orc, disdain on his face. "So...you have a tongue after all? Perhaps there might be a reason to keep you alive after all. Be warned, though. My patience grows thin. Tell us everything, including who 'he' is, how and why you will raise him, what book you wanted to retrieve, how it was to help, and anything else that is relevant. My friend Bones is very good at spotting liars and those who withhold the truth. Give us everything or it will no longer be the knife but the acid."
Extending his hand over the prisoner, he allows just a few drops of acid to drip next to her ear, where she can hear the sizzle. He is very careful not get any on her.
"Etrarg The Great! He was the best auther of all time, a true bard of his ages. He was amazing, and I want to bring my love back to life. The book that I was after I found, and left at the school, it completly brings people back from the dead, no matter how long they have been dead. But it's hard, much hard than I am able to cast, I need more practice, I need to be stronger, then I can bring him back, then I can be with Etrarg. I mean I hoped that no one would find me, but if someone did come, I clearly was wanting to defend myself. Wait how did you even find me?" Fear is the only thing you cen get from her other than honesty.
As Falami talks about Etrarg, Bones wracks his brain to see if he can recall such a "famous" bard, and when he'd heard he had been prominent (as in how long ago he was alive, given the seeming age of the person in front of us. Basically trying to figure out how truthful she's being)(History: 7).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Talinian considers her words, wondering who this Etrarg is.
History: 21
"And the name of this book? And where can it be found? Also, where did you get the sword and what was its...contribution to your plans?" Talinian keeps his tone flat.
(The sword you would have been able to tell was a leftover item from the war that happened here, and odds are she didn't know or care about it.)
"The book is a Kersaat Pavmases, it has no name and I hid it, and you will never find it."
Talinian you would have probably read a small bit about him once while in school. He was a great bard, who lived and died about a few thousand years ago. He was a key person in the formation of treaties between The Towleigh Empire, The Republic of Caprivig and The Kingdom of Cariruesia. There are also a handful of plays that he wrote that are still performed today, (as the players you can decide if you would know these would be something you would know.)
Talinian glances at Mia, allowing his inner turmoil to show on his face. He does not like pretending to be this person. He allows his voice to soften, just a bit, when he speaks, "I see. How is this bard, dead thousands of years, your love? And when you say you were not strong enough, do you mean you lacked the magical energy or the physical stamina?"
"A fool of your level could never understand love. His poetry, it is about me, his plays are about my life, he must have found a way, so I MUST find a way." She seems to be somewhere between smiling and crying.
"I have a little understanding of lost loves, my dear," Bones says soothingly, changing his tactic somewhat, "I too, lost someone dear to me many years ago and wish to find them once more. How did you come to find your love? And how, pray tell, do you think he found a way that his works would so closely resemble your life?"
She recites two different poems, the one is a very generic poem about women, truly any woman would be able to fit into the descriptions from the poem. The second is about a specific half-orc woman, and while some of the descriptions of the woman do match Falami, other descriptions are a little more opinion based, and you most likely would not agree with the direct connections that she is making.
“His play ‘The Late Night Heart’ its about a sneaky half-orc who sneaks into a top secret place so that she can steel an important artifact to keep her love alive, I stole the a book from the deepest libraries just to bring him back, I don’t know how he knew I would do it, but he knew!”
If you think your character would have gone to see any plays in their early life let me know and I will give you the specifics about the play.
Talinian nods. He'd heard of the plays but hadn't ever read or seen them performed. "Yes, I understand now. I see the correlation. So you were building a skeleton army here to both increase your magical stamina and create enough guards to keep you safe...well, that's done for now." He look at Mia and Bones. "Do either of you have any questions for her?"
Bones shakes his head, he was definitely out of his depth when it came to plays and music. They were not his forte. "You'd done well, Falami, to gather up such a group of skeletons as these to do your bidding. Though, I'm more impressed with your shielding force about this encampment. That in itself, must have been quite draining?"
"That is not me, it is the spell to keep this place hidden. There are said to be magical relics here that would have been used in this battle. Nothing I would have been after, personally."
Talinian exchanges looks with Mia and Bones, raising an eyebrow. 'Relics' he mouths, glancing significantly at Mia's new sword. This was definitely worth pursuing further. Turning back to Falami, he says, "It's obvious your love means much to you. How did you come by the scrolls?"
After she answers, he moves aside with the others. Speaking softly, he says, "I think it would be worthwhile for me to cast detect magic and then fly around this area, close to the ground. Who can say what other items we might find."
"I had a soruce who made them for me, a long time ago, when I was in Ulo, sadly the last time I went to buy more, she was dead, for a woman who was so interested in bringing back the dead she had no problem dieing herself." She sounds almost sad at the lose of her "friend"
