Bones winces as the stick breaks, hoping that no one else heard it. Satisfied that there are no undead nearby though, he sits down leaning against a headstone. "Thank you my friend for your help there. I must admit, that went well and truly awry of what I had thought. Moreover, perhaps sometime when we have a few days, I might get a chance to learn some of your spells as I am in dire need of something to damage more than just a single enemy." He closes his eyes a moment, before opening them up and turning to his comrade again, "Are you hurt at all? Do you need healing? Are the others here yet?"
"You are welcome," Talinian replies. "It also was not handled as I envisioned. The others will be here soon, I am sure and, no I do not need healing. As for spells, what do you have? I have Chromatic Orb, False Life, Ice Knife, Mage Armor, Shield, Identify, Flaming Sphere and Misty Step. We can discuss trading at a later date."
"Ice knife, flaming sphere and misty step sound interesting. Perhaps you'd be interested in catapult, witch bolt and ray of sickness? Yes... later." Bones sits back again and waits.
The Tomb door is open, and is easy enough to close and bar shut. After a further investigation of the gate there is a latch that can easily latch the gate closed. You set a small fire, and take shifts for the night.
After finishing breakfast with the others, Talinian unsaddles his horse, moving the necessary supplies to his specially designed backpack, he hobbles the horse and makes sure the gate is closed. Then, considering for a moment, he pulls out his bit of cured leather, says the words while his hands and fingers move in the ballet of magic. An instant later a brief shine envelopes his body as the Mage Armor takes effect.
Have we peeled into the tomb at all? Does it appear typical tomb sized or as if there is tunnel connected or such?
Gorm is good but if there appears to be more than a tomb to explore then she’ll inquire if anyone has a way to guard or alarm the door... and if we want to light torches or try to stealth?
Bones heads over to the tomb entrance that was blocked off the day before to inspect it before they open it for the day. He's looking for any writing, either original names or new etchings, marks or glyphs that might help the group as they delve down into the crypt (Investigation: 18).
Before you closed the tomb last night you saw that while the building looks to be a 10X10 building, the inside is actually a stair case going down. I did assume that you guys did not venture down last night.
Bones do you speak celestial? Because that is what is written over the door.
(OOC - Bones doesn't speak celestial, just Dwarvish, Gnomish and Undercommon.)
Bones, having thought over the writing, sits down with the group. "So I've been looking over the crypt door carefully this morning. It seems that there's more of this script written on the door," Bones removes the note they found in the locker back at camp, "I wish I had the means to read it, but wanted you all to be aware in case it's a ward of some sort. Interesting though, that it's not Undercommon or Abyssal script, considering we're dealing with undead. Any thoughts before we proceed for the day?"
Talinian looks over the script, then copies it down verbatim. "It never hurts to be prepared or to learn new things. We can probably get this translated." Looking around then, he continues, "Are we ready to explore? I think we should like a torch or perhaps use a lantern, unless someone has the Light cantrip."
"I would think the original intent of the graveyard was more to lay the dead to rest, not to raise them up to attack. Unless the words are new, I would suspect they reflect the original purpose, not what this... What was his name, Ingon? Now whatever he's up to..." Gorm chimes in. "It could be the tunnel is just to underground graves, and that he just chose this place due to the presence of bodies and nothing else. He may not be here... Though we should check."
"Hmm, yes but a graveyard offers an excellent array of components for his necromantic activities," Bones makes a sweeping motion with his arm at all the graves, "That's a good supply of bodies. And the crypt could potentially hold hundreds depending on how deep it goes. I believe he's still here. It's what I would do if I were to raise an army. And the fact that he's made attacks against his old camp indicates he has plans of some machination with these undead. This script though... How is it connected?" Bones trails off as he looks at the note more.
(DM Question - was the celestial writing on the crypt magical or could he make a rubbing of it to copy it - i.e. was it raised or depressed into the door?)
"I agree with Bones. While I'm copying the script, perhaps your spider could scout for us. In these close confines, it will do a better job than my owl," Talinian says as he draws the script.
It is depressed into the stone, there is signs that it's been there for a long time. So yes you can make a rub.
I'll assume that Bones sends his spider. What the spider sees.
At the bottom of the stairs is a chamber. The chamber is 25 feet wide north-to-south and 15 feet across. There are four doors in the room, each at the center of one of the four walls. The western door is already open and propped open with a large stone—you can see the world outside. The eastern door is also open, again propped open with a large stone. There are also 4 stone knights, one in each corner.
(DM Question - the western door, propped open with the stone and which my spider can see the outside world. Is that the door to the stairs up to the entrance, or are the four doors separate to the stairs entering the chamber? What are the stone knights holding - shields, swords etc?)
Bones perceives the crypt through his spider, Cinder, and relays what he sees to the group as he sits blind and deaf. Cinder continues to move through the room, towards the eastern door that has been propped open.
This room is roughly 20-feet long east-to-west and 15-feet long north-to-south. There are two other exits, each in one of the four walls except the east wall. The doors to the west and north have both been propped open with large chunks of rock. A massive, stone sarcophagus carved to look like an elven knight consumes the center of the room.
Once again, Bones relays what he sees through Cinder to the group.
(DM Question - does the sarcophagus look like it's been disturbed or opened? Cinder has come through the west wall/door from the previous room, so door to the north is a continuation of my trek.)
Bones directs Cinder north after looking over the sarcophagus to see if it's opened or not.
This room is roughly 20-feet long east-to-west and 15-feet long north-to-south. There are 3 exits, each in one of the four walls, except north. The doors to the south and east have both been propped open with large chunks of rock. A massive, stone sarcophagus carved to look like a wizened elf dominates the center of the room

Bones spends his watch looking through the graves to see if there is anything he can learn, which he can not.
Olivia spends her shift praying and thinking of her past. (I'll PM you)
Korba and Talinian your shifts go well you notice nothing, but know that there was nothing to notice.
Gorm you are hyper aware of your surroundings, you hear a few wolves off in the distance, not moving in your direction.
Is there anything you want to do before going into the tomb?
