ooc: We need a bow, crossbow, sling...some sort of ranged weapon for Fiume. Also, I think someone's sword was damaged in the previous attack. We need to replace that. I think that was all that was damaged. Did anyone suffer armor or shield damage?
"What do you think of Davey?"
"Did Davey and the mayor get on well?"
These questions should also be asked...not quite this bluntly. We should also ask questions about the mayor.
And, Bones, we should probably talk about our recent undead experiences and see what we get in the way of responses, maybe over a mug of beer or ale or some such.
These questions would be part of the 20 minutes of conversations to get more sensative info.
“when did the oozes pop up?”- about 3 weeks ago
“How frequent do the appear” - they would come daily, but they come a little less now, the guards are getting better at fighting them
“are there any inns?” - there are two- "The Little Tea Pot" ran by a Furbolg named Clayton Deuceel, and "The Long Draw" ran by a Sun Elf named Belmenor
These questions will cost 20 minutes each, the first because im guessing you ask more than 1 person, the other because you need to get the right person to open up.
"What do you think of Davey?" - There is neither a great like or dislike for him, and no one likes his music
"Did Davey and the mayor get on well?" - you meet a dwarf woman named Myrnys who was once in love with Davey, she started to fall out of love when he started to fall inlove with himself. She says that Davey was not a fan of Mayor Lee, and Mayor Lee wa always trying to get Davey to stop play his music, because he is not that good.
Bones will also ask about undead experiences in town, casually asking, "We've been seeing some undead in the surrounding towns recently. Has there been any troubles here in Presdine?"
(Also, Bones will be waiting on Cinder to give him any updates on the mayor. Are they within 100ft of each other, with the town layout? If so, while they spend sometime around town and Bones is not in conversation, he will periodically go blind and deaf to perceive through Cinder.)
Ill count Bones' question about the undead as a 20 min one, due to asking more than one person.- everyone acts a little freaked out about the idea of undead.
Asking about the mayor and Davey you find a female dwarf who says she "was once in love with Davey, untill he fell more in love with himself than he was her." She said "Davey and Mayor Lee were never friends, but more so than anyone else in town as Davey played more, Mayor Lee disliked Davey more, and Davey resented him."
During the conversation with the Mayor, both Bone’s and Talinian handled the conversation portion quite eloquently for them. Mia took comfort in their calm and methodical approach. When introduced and upon exit she’d simply nod her head in greeting and farewell.
Outside while outside during the group discussion, she still wouldn’t have much to add, but was very thankful to be additionally aware of their situation and to consider options outside of what’s simply presented to them.
While at the local blacksmith Mialee would present her chainmail that was corroded by the oozes. She’d hope it could be repaired or replaced. Priority went to taking care of her armour first, then, should she be able too, Mia would desire to get a crossbow to replace the light crossbow should her teammate still have the need for it. She was happy to have provided it to them.
Once all gear was acquired and tended too, she would follow along for any discussions. She didn’t have much to add as she preferred to be more silent herself, listen and support her teammates should any one provide them with any trouble.
(DM Question - after gathering this information, what time of day would it be? Are we looking into the evening at this point?)
Once the group has gathered some information, Bones gathers the group around and talks quietly. "Well it seems we have a few tidbits of information. Though, I don't see a great deal to specify our path as yet other than a trek to another graveyard. As for no one liking Davey's music, I'm not one for bagpipes and I'm sure my taste is a shared one, so this point may not have great impact." Bones mentally goes through the notes, "The fact that the mayor and this bard had significant dislike for each other may have some merit though. This could be a ploy for the mayor to rid himself of an adversary. Who knows, perhaps he had feelings for the dwarf that loved Davey?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The black smith has a long sword 16 gold, a light crossbow 26 gold, and some chainmail armor 76, or just the shirt for 55, it would take him some time to fix your current armor and unfortunately the local guards armor is taking priority. A charisma check if 5 can Nick off 4 gold. (No more than 2 checks for the whole party, or one at advantage.
Talinian listens to the blacksmith list the prices and the time, looks at this companions, and discreetly motions for Mia to haggle over the prices. Hopefully, a looming tiefling wizard with bright blue hair and cat-like, golden eyes, will help her get the man to bring down his prices.
ooc: Ixi, please roll for Mia with advantage. We will take long sword, cross bow, and chain mail. I'd suggest keeping the other items as backups in case the oozes damage the replacements sufficiently.
(ooc: just to keep in mind, Thodin has a spare Chainmail if anyone will be wanting it, as it seemed better than selling it previously)
Thodin stomped happily enough along with the rest as they questions and investigated the locals, eventually making their way to the blacksmith. This was where he was most comfortable, as the smells, heat, and ringing clangs of a smiths hammer resonated with almost all Dwarves, but especially those like Thodin.
Listening to Bones summarise the afternoon’s conversations, Thodin nods along agreeably, finally speaking as the Wizard stopped. “I agree, Master Bones, it does seem the next best place to look, though I ain’t happy about it. Graveyards...” Thodin grumbles, visibly shaking his shoulders as if trying to shake off some feeling.
As Mia and Talinian begin to handle the haggling, Thodin turns to Bones again, picking up on another point from the conversation. “Now, bagpipes aren’t for everyone, true, but they’re somewhat popular with the Dwarves I grew up with... In fact, my good friend, Frossgar, could pump out a jolly tune or two to rouse the troops, back in the day...” the Dwarf says with a smile hidden beneath his great beard, his eyes wandering stoically into the distance...
"Graveyards aren't so bad, master dwarf," Bones says reassuringly, "They're usually rather quiet." As Thodin makes the comments about the bagpipes, "Ah yes, well I have a feeling that your friend, Frossgar, might have had a little more time practising and perfecting his bagpipes compared to our subject as well. Perhaps more time might make him better?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: I’m happy to ‘recycle’ some chainmail and to save the group some gold. So a long sword, a light crossbow and some bolts then? Any other supplies ladies and gents? Worth giving it a shot just for the fun of it lol that’s a high check. Will accept the help from Talinian for sure!)
Mialee will take a shallow breath as she’d approach the counter to admire the wares presented to them. She’d nod respectfully to the blacksmith as she picked up the weapons to inspect hem closer. “Fine wares. Should they prove to be fine weapons on the battle field, we’ll be sure to spread the word of your shops wares and skills as a blacksmith.” She was genuine in the remarks.
So I know that Fiume might have been looking to replace his scimitar, but the blacksmith doesn't have one, does he buy the long sword, it's 14 gold with Mia's roll. The light crossbow is now 24 gold. Anything else or are you going to head to the graveyard?
Talinian counts out the gold for the items they are taking, then passes them out, the chain mail to Mia and the light crossbow, and possibly the long sword, to Fiume.
ooc: That's 100 gold if Fiume doesn't want the long sword and 116 if he does.
Some questions to ask towns people:
“when did the oozes pop up?”
“How frequent do the appear”
“are there any inns?”
ooc: We need a bow, crossbow, sling...some sort of ranged weapon for Fiume. Also, I think someone's sword was damaged in the previous attack. We need to replace that. I think that was all that was damaged. Did anyone suffer armor or shield damage?
