Tales from Talaveroth

"Well I believe we will be riding on the Dolphin then, since Paren has said he could make his way to Dastarus another time."

Paren keeps his arms folded but nods to his small friend. "Alright, the Dolphin it is. I doubt he can quibble about a single week when I'm already so far behind." 

Si'Juul nods and begins making his way on talon towards the Dolphin to feel the sand once more.

”Yes! Thank you thank you thank you!” Elhanna lean in and give Paren a big hug. When she release him she say “I will go to Helga right away to get my things!”

Twitch is overjoyed at their decision to carry on with the Dolphin, and quickly seeks out Slizzith. He had shown her some useful things, but overall, there relationship was mostly professional, and she bid him adieu accordingly. With Helga, Twitch had a much harder time, and she wouldn't leave before getting a promise that Helga would do her utmost to get in contact once the Dolphin got to Dastarus as well. Lastly, Twitch headed up to the Captain, with her best grin and told him best of luck keeping the ship in shape, before turning her back on the Mobius, ready to start the next leg of her adventure with the Green Dolphin.

Following behind Twitch, Si'Juul very firmly slaps his hand onto the captain's shoulder as he passes.

"Yeah, and good luck with the inevitable mutiny you will cause with your neglect on caring for your own ship or its crew.", he says not quite yelling but definitely loud enough for anyone nearby to hear clearly.

Once on the beach, Si'Juul will let out a relaxed sigh as he feels his talons in the sand once more. When he boards, he will walk up to the captain.

"We're taking you up on your offer. You've got a few pairs of hands extra on your ship."

The crew of the Mobius gives you warm farewells after hearing your decision.  "Well, well, we will miss you," the captain says. "No refunds on fares, of course, and Twitch, I release you from your position.  Without pay, naturally, since you did not complete your allotted term of service with the Richard company, as stated in your company contract. Lethwaite, we would seem to have more room for cargo.  Have the crew collect come more coconuts." All the same, he seems to have mixed feelings as you walk away.

"Welcome aboard, !" says Captain Pennywhistle.  You meet the crew: it is not as specialized or professional as the crew of the Mobius: just sailors, some with a few extra skills. They seem pleased to have such impressive new shipmates, and joke about how many sea serpents you will have fished up before they get to port. The crew gets the ship upright and ready to sail as the tide creeps higher up the beach, licking around the supports that hold the Dolphin in place.  As the Mobius connects cables to give the Dolphin a tow, Helga comes aboard briefly and secretively hands Twitch a small sack.  "The crew was sorry to see you go and took up a little collection," she says.  "They wanted to thank you for your work, and all of you for protecting them from the various beasties.  And the druid wanted you to have a little remembrance of your adventure as well." The sack contains 40 gold, and in addition, you get a small potted carnivorous plant...much like the one you killed on the island, but only a few inches high.

As the tide reaches the highest point, the Mobius raises its sails, and soon you feel the Dolphin slide off the sand into the bay.  The crews of both ships cheer, and pipes and accordions are played on both ships as the cables are cast loose, and the Dolphin's sails go up.  The ships maneuver out of the bay, and raise full sails.  Crews on both ships wave at each other as the Dolphin heads east, and the Mobius takes a more northlerly course.  You can still see the sails of the Mobius in the distance as the sun sets in the evening.

Sea-serpent jokes aside, you feel in your bones that the rest of your sea journey will be peaceful. Probably.

Compared to the last time you all got on a new boat together the voyage to the coast was incredibly peaceful. On the horizon you can see a small port city nestled on the bank of a river. Behind it are the open plains and gentle hills this area is known for. 

As you've grown closer to land Paren has become a bit more antsy, and withdrawn. He keeps tapping his foot on the deck and looking up and the sky. 

You all and most of the off duty crew gather as you approach the coast. Si'Juul, please make a perception check.

Perception:12

You see a dark shape up in the sky. It's not very big, about the size of a seagull but the wings seem different.

"Eyes up....something up there...."

Si'Juul keeps watch on the vague birdlike shape.

The shape seems to follow you as you approach the docks. You keep watching it but it comes no closer for a long while. Eventually it floats down and seems to come to rest on one of the wooden pillars that holds up the dock. 

Twitch, your sharp eyes can tell that it's a bird of some sort, a large, black bird with a white chest. 

Poinki, remembering the savage Eveswyrms, stays nervously in the shadows watching the bird.  "Poinki become a hero," he mutters. "But maybe not today yet..."

Si'Juul just keeps watching the bird, arms crossed

Elhanna also stay sheltered from the bird. She knows her capability and know that her strong suit is to aid the fighters, not to fight. “Does anyone know what that is?”

would it have been possible for Elhanna to take a few Everwyrms bones to create augury tools on the journey? 

if the then she take out her everwyrm bones and cast them on the deck close her eyes and ask Mishakel “should we avoid this creature?”

Twitch is straining her memory to try and figure out what that bird could be. Her grandfather would be so disappointed to see how few of his lessons about nature really stuck... then again, she was always happier cobbling together something, than trying to look out for the local fauna.

Elhanna lays out the bones and performs the ritual, calling on Mishakel for an omen. To her disappointment, once the spell finishes the bones don't move from where they lay, indicating the bird is neither bad or good for her. 

By this time the ship has drawn close enough that you all can see the form of the bird. Paren squints at it for a second before letting out a long sigh. "Well damnit."

"So you know what this is about, Paren?"

Si'Juul asks, still keeping eyes on the bird.

”what ever it is it doesn’t seem to be a threat unless we provoke it.” Elhanna say confidently and collect the everwyrm bones walk. Then she walk out on the deck again to get a better view of it.
