Tales from Talaveroth

"That, I can get behind. Because that sounds like a plan. I'm proud of you Si'Juul, accepting help all of a sudden." Twitch was teasing, but she still meant what she said.

"Again, I never rejected your help. When I fly up, alone or not, I will be aiming to talk to whoever is up there. See what their plan is. I don't intend to actually step foot on the tower, if that was your concern. Just close enough to have a conversation. If there really is a member of the Black Brand there, they will likely know me. But they don't know you, and I want it to remain that way."

"Okay," Poinki says bravely. "Poinki fly with Si'juul. Umm...not TOO high?"

"Depends on the size of the tower. Won't know that until weget there. Either way, I will be in the air while you all break in from the ground."

“Then we have a plan, before you fly up there I can cast shield of faith on you. That will make it a bit harder for them to attack you.”

"That's good, assuming they do. Like I said, I want to get a read on them. Best way to do that is to go up top, as that is where they will most likely be. And if they are expecting me, then they will expect to do exactly that. I want them to think I am alone, at least to begin with."

"I can try and get the rest of us inside, when it comes to it."

"I had a feeling you could."

(Assuming we have been walking and talking all this time, how close are we?)

(The walk would take the better part of a day but the road is well traveled and protected. We can hand wave the rest if you all would like.)

(So, with the expetited travel...)

"Alright, there it is. Who's going up with me?"

About mid-morning the next day you arrive on the hill overlooking the small fishing village of Torn. As you approach the town you see a collection of wooden buildings, with smoke wafting slowly into the bright sky. The smell of salt from the sea seems to permeate every aspect of the village. Waves crash on the porous rock and in the distance Twitch can see the wooden hull of a ship slowly being broken apart by the waves. On a point to the right of the village stands the Lighthouse, rising high above the rest of the town.

You skirt the edge of the town and make your way out to the point. As you approach closer to the Lighthouse you can see that the light on top is no longer continuous and instead blinks on and off with no discernible pattern. You also begin to feel a strong wind pulling at you, even though it as a clear day. Looking at the Lighthouse you can see that it is ringed in a swirling wall of leaves and branches that seem to be caught in the same wind. The wind seems to whip faster and more fiercely the further up the tower you look.

Off to the left side of the point, at a safe distance you see a large tent with the markings of Ilmater on it. 

"Maaaaaybe not fly today," says Poinki looking at the rubble-filled whirlwind. He heads eagerly for the Ilmater tent, hoping to meet fellow worshipers, proudly wearing his Ilmater amulet and his real face.

"They are definitely expecting me. Those walls, the strong winds getting stronger the further up you go, not a bad way to stave off someone like me. Doesn't change my plans though. I am going to back up a ways, make it look like I traveled by air, and alone."

Si'Juul begins heading to a spot hidden from the tower far enough so he can take to the air.

Off the point there's a small stand of trees that would keep Si'Juul out of sight of the tower.

As Poinki walks around the front of the tent he sees three people arguing. And older human, dressed in fine priestly robes is clearly trying to explain something in a calm voice. Next to him a tall female elf with red hair in platemail armour is in the middle of shouting at a smaller female human in ragged clothing, who is shouting back. On her hip the ragged human wears a holster, similar to Si'Juul's but clearly empty. Poinki cannot see any weapons on her though.

Poinki stands politely waiting for a safe and silent moment to interrupt and introduce himself (meanwhile listening in to the argument.)

The three eventually notice the small goblin. The old human speaks. "Uh, hello. Can I help you, fellow member of the faith? It is good to see that Ilmater's influence has reached in to the goblinkin, very good." 

Si'Juul begins flying up. Whatever the height of the tower is, he flies 50ft above that. He slowly starts moving towards the tower, stopping the moment there's a sign he has been seen.

Si'Juul flies up and up and up until he's almost 250 feet in the air. He then begins to make his way forward. It's difficult for him to get a good look but he doesn't see anyone on the top of the tower at the moment.

What he does realize however is that the wind is even stronger up here and that it forms a seeming cap on the top of the tower. Unless he wants to risk broken bones flying into the tower doesn't seem like a viable option.

"Clever...."

Si'Juul heads back towards the trees he started from and lands, making his way to the group again.

Seeing Poinki up by the tent, he asks Oleg,

"Not going to see if your friend is in there?"
