Aliez wakes up and looks troubled for much of the remaining journey. "I am also short on coin but perhaps the headdress and other jewelry can be sold to get more provisions." Although I would love to take a small piece of jewelry if it isn't too much trouble."
"Thank you Vincent for the hand. Where are you headed in town?" She asks the Champion.
“It doesn’t matter. Anywhere’s fine. We need to talk about you and your issues.”
Feeling that he hasn't spoken much to the gnome, Kenton decides he will spend some time with Reguh, if he is willing. And what do you plan to do on this island? I am at a loss myself, but would accompany you if you do not mind. I have visited a number of small islands in my time, but for a son of Nicodranas I'm afraid I have never been much drawn to the sea. Now my cause takes me far across the waters, I think. And what of you - are you an experienced sailor?
Reguh smiles with excitement that someone is speaking to him. He then looks around curiously and says “I would love someone to accompany me thank you. Kenton, was it?” Reguh rubs his facial hair, seemingly deep in thought “I knew I’d make my way to the sea eventually, I didn’t expect to be IN the sea though! I was brought up far from the oceans. Was a nice experience, but I can’t say I’m eager to go back”
You... knew it? Ah, you were a traveller, then? An explorer? How did you come by the profession of adventurer? Myself, I have never wanted anything else, though it has been some time since I truly chose my own path in truth. A man has many responsibilities, no?
Kenton walks with Reguh up the main street of the small island town, not looking for anything in particular, just enjoying the sights and looking for anything that catches their attention.
"You know much about spirits and those trapped in this world?" Aliez asks the Champion as she follows him wherever he wants to go.
“I’m not sure. I know that I know a little. You have some problems, and it may be that you’ve earned every bit of them... but it may be that you deserve the Raven Queen’s solace. Tell me again what has happened.”
I’m not sure what sort of check to make for any of this, DM.

The Champion is quite familiar with the death and how humanoids become undead given his patron. Even without a roll, he knows that a mortal's soul takes the form of a spirit when their body dies when they are supposed to transition to the afterlife. He knows that sometimes the soul does not transition and becomes undead (a ghost, spectre etc.) You can make a roll if you have a specific question and it will most likely be religion or history, depending on the question (though I still need to update Queersbeyond with some information first, so Aliez can have a proper conversation about what she experienced - I only provided the cliff notes so far).
Reguh and Kenton start walking up the main street. There are street food vendors, restaurants, colourful shops and hotels all along the main street. The street food vendors are just starting to make their first batches of the local delicacies of mussels (moules) in rum cream served with crusty bread, a sea salt caramel which many vendors are serving in a fudge like consistency on skewers, though some are serving as softer caramel in a bowl with biscuit fingers, and wrapped savoury crepes with shaved salted fish that smell much nicer than they sound.
Kenton there is something about the sea salt caramel that catches you attention (in a good way), roll perception (smell). On a DC10:
You can smell that the sea salt caramel has honey in it and you desperately want to try it.
Let me know which (if any) shops you want to stop at from the map and whether you want to ask for prices for any of the food.
Oden: This time when you enter the Drunken Sailor you are surprised to see that it has changed quite a bit since you were last here only days ago. Háls Bifask (reminder: he was the Riptide proprietor), Arvastan and Kerith all seem to be busy at work fixing up the place. The (ex)proprietor of the Drunken Sailor is sitting at the bar having a beer, while Mira is taking drinks in cleanglasses to customers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kenton's nose: 16
Do you smell those? he asks Reguh with a grin forming on his face. Caramel and honey and... oh, those do smell good. To be truthful, anything with honey is likely to tempt me. Would you like some?
He stops to chat to the vendor, and asks the price as well.
Reguh continues smiling “Where I am from people tend to stay and don’t do any adventuring. When I read about the oceans, the mountains, the deserts, mythical creatures, and various adventures, I knew I couldn’t stay home forever. I needed to experience these things firsthand. Even when I started my studies, I knew I couldn’t remain there for long and left rather unceremoniously.” He chuckles nervously and clutches his amulet. “I do smell that, I would love some sweets!”
Oden approaches his brothers and Háls, "You've given this place quite an uplift! The owner must be pleased." He points to those who followed him here: "Gathered up some more refugees. Please let the Partcaller... Mazin?... know about them."
Oden would ask for any news about Ervalin and if they needed more coins.
Assuming the price is not too steep, Kenton will buy some honey-flavoured caramel sweets and share them with Reguh.
You read stories of far away lands, and decided to travel. I can relate. As a child I read stories of heroes and adventurers, and was determined to become one. My parents did... not approve. They sent me to study under a the tutelage of an academic. I read about agriculture and economics and... I daydreamed a lot. I was a dutiful student, never an enthusiastic one.
And now, I am an adventurer, and you are travelling the world. Tell me, is the world what you expected, from the books that you read?
Oden approaches his brothers and Háls, "You've given this place quite an uplift! The owner must be pleased." He points to those who followed him here: "Gathered up some more refugees. Please let the Partcaller... Mazin?... know about them."

[Oops, I thought Kerith was female - I should have checked my notes... I'll add that you can tell from how Mira is dressed that she has also been helping renovate the inn, not just the men.]
Arvastan responds "Well met Brother! You are back already, does that mean you have vanquished all the evil in the land?" [He is back to making facetious comments, so you know he is in a good mood].
Kerith and Mira rush over and greet you and Mira corrects you, saying "You mean the new owners?" She gestures to herself, Arvastan, Kerith and Háls and continues, "Yes, we are pleased with how the work is going. We have only been working for about two days, but I think already the chances of getting sick from drinking or eating anything here have decreased significantly. Also, there are actually paying customers." The ex-proprietor is within hearing distance, but the comment does not seem to register with him.
Arvastan explains "I had news for you back before our second home decided to go for a swim! Háls had asked me if I wanted to partner with him at the Riptide and expand the beach bar for the yearly tournament, but I don't think that venture will be as successful now [He winks at Háls, who rolls his eyes]. Anyway, your dwarf friend asked us all what our plans were long-term and what our trades were.Háls and I explained that he owned an Inn and Tavern and that I was his best employee and soon to be partner. Your dwarf friend then said she might have an opportunity for us if we could put up some gold and assure her that we would put the work in, so I roped K and Minto the scheme... or is it scam? Your dwarf friend is one fifth owner and she gets all the profits until her initial investment is recovered, but we all get food, drink and a place to live with the prospects of one day actually earning a copper or two..."
Mira interjects "That Bryn is a shrewd business woman indeed, but the deal is fair. Numpty and The Oaf [she gestures to Arvastan and Háls] had me look over the figures to make sure we were not getting ourselves into trouble. I've calculated that if we get this place up to a reasonable standard, we could have her investment paid off in 7 or 8 months and then be earning similar to what we were at Flora Isle, or even more if we play our cards right. I could set up another successful florist business out the front and Kerith could start up his tour-guide operation again, with all businesses sharing resources and running out of this central location, then the silver and copper would roll in."
Kerith lets you know that they haven't had any word from Ervalin and offers to take the new refugees to Bryn to get set up and to get word to the Portcaller about the new arrivals.
Assuming the price is not too steep, Kenton will buy some honey-flavoured caramel sweets and share them with Reguh.
The harder caramels sell for 6 cp per serve of 4 on a skewer and can be taken away. The softer caramel with a finger biscuits sells for 8 cp to eat around the stall in wooden bowls, or for 2 sp and 5 cp you can get it as takeaway in a "lucky" Brokenbank souvenir meal kit (this becomes a Mess Kit).
As you have been travelling a while, you strongly suspect that these are tourist prices, but they are not too steep.
The vender looks very happy about making two large sales first thing in the morning and says "Kord's blessing is with you... and with me today it seems as well."
Reguh seems very interested in hearing Kentons background and chuckles a bit. “Wow, it seems we have similar stories. My family didn’t even want me to leave at first, but I was a bit of a handful so eventually they pushed me away. They love me, but everyone in town convinced them i would accidentally destroy the place from boredom if I stayed. I went and studied... somewhere as well.” He makes sure to change the subject when it comes to the details of his education. “It’s been much different than I expected though. My first real adventure being underwater, for one.”
Oden grins at the unexpected good news: "Well done! This is amazing! The place will soon be packed with customers. And you can rest assured that, at the very least, this island won't be sank by the same Sahuagin. Come here!" Oden spreads his arms for a group hug. "You too, Háls!"
"I've been hanging out with some of the good people who defended the Isle. We're doing a salvage job for Bryn, and after than, we are taking a ship back to its owner in Port Damali. I might be gone for a while. I know Ervalin can take care of himself, but I worry still. You... ", he points to Arvastan and narrows his eyes, "were throwing fire at the fishfaces and you spoke in my mind back on the Isle. Have you been studying arcane arts? Do you know of a way to reach Ervalin that way?"

Arvastan responds cheekily "If you ever paid any attention, you'd know that I have been learning magic from Old Man Stendy and from Eloise on and off for years now" his face grows sombre for a second "Had been learning, Deep Sashelas watch over their souls. Anyway, between the two of them I've picked up a number of very powerful spells. I've learned throw-fire, speak-in-head and most useful of all fix-things-up and clean-things-and-heat-or-chill-things-and-flavour-things-and-add-flair-for-tips. Unfortunately I don't think speak-in-head works unless I know where people are, but I wouldn't worry about Ervalin. No offence, but he is the strongest of us. If you have defeated a sahuagin, he has probably defeated a dragon turtle and is on his way back now with its treasure to buy a better tavern than this for us to all run." [You can tell that he is mostly just trying to wind you up with the last part of what he said, though you can tell he is not concerned about Ervalin at the moment either.]
Kenton will talk freely about his humble background, and his parents who are still weavers in Nicodranas. He manages (he hopes) not to be too intrusive in the conversation about Reguh's education, if he picks up on his reluctance, but if not then Reguh would not find it hard to lead him onto other subjects, specifically recounting details of the battle they just fought together.
I too am new to underwater battles. Though this spear is serviceable, I prefer my sword in my hand when I face down my enemy. However, I can't quite get the swing right in the water. That was a fierce and vicious foe, wielding powerful magics. I confess there was a point where I was uncertain we would prevail. I am... still a little unsure how we won, but I was badly wounded and perhaps did not see the whole fight clearly.
In full tourist mode, he will call out loudly and obnoxiously to passing local: Ho, friend! We are visiting your fine town today. Tell us, what is there to see and do here?

Two souvenir takeaways it is. :) Total of 5 silver deducted.

Also, for reference, I'm roughly following the logic in this link for the world economy and NPC expected earning... or handwaving it when it suits me.
