Dillyu looks around to make sure none of his crew mates are within earshot, then pretending to still speak to Bryn answers your question "You can’t let on that you know any of this, or it’s my neck on the chopping block, but I believe "the heroes" - which is you and your friends who saved the island - are to be treated like royalty and will get a cabin below deck. I was then told everyone else will be helped and receive supplies, but I was also told to ask these questions before taking some people downstairs and bringing supplies to others."
Beatrice tenses, pulling her hands away from Nessa as she tries to keep them from shaking. "Right," she says. "Let me know when the others receive their supplies, and I'll see who needs what - I'm fine with what I have. I would also like to give my cabin to this family, I'd much rather be sleeping under the stars and they need beds more than I do. I'm small, so I won't get in the way."

Dillyu responds whilst still pretending that he is talking to Bryn "I get what you are saying. Just please, please don't let on that I said anything. Heidi already seems to have it in for me for no reason, if she knows I spoke out of turn, she might put me off the ship at the next port. The captain is nice to the crew when she is on deck, Heidi on the other hand seems to have favourites and everyone else is a target for ridicule, and she has the captain's ear."
As if on cue, you all then hear Heidi yell out "Oy, Dillyu. Enough lollygaggin', how many time do I 'ave t' tell ye, thar always be work t' do?"
Dillyu starts trying to explain that he is getting passenger details, but Heidi cuts him off "No excuses! Ye be always slackin' off! Get back t' work movin' thin's around below deck so that we can make all of our distinguished guests comfortable!"
Reguh winks at Dajarkal and changes the subject “Any idea where we are headed?”
Dajarkal gives an apologetic shrug and says "I haven't heard anything, but we seem to be south-west bound?"
When Dajarkal hears Heidi yell at Dillyu, she says "That's my cue, or I'll be next in the firing line" and scuttles off, grabs a mop and bucket and starts to swab the deck near where Vincent and Oden are speaking (Reguh can follow and attempt to continue speaking, or stay where he is).
“Siblings? You have family mixed up in all this? My condolences. All things must pass by my lady’s gaze eventually, but I pray they have a long time yet before then.”
"That is kind. Thank you. They got away on a different ship. Since my brother Ervalin is looking for them in Bisaft Isle, I must get to Brokenbank and search there. I already lost a sister... I must make sure they are safe." (fidgeting again) "Would you... would you back me up if I needed to persuade the captain? In case we're not actually headed for Brokenbank... I'm sorry, it's not a fair request. You probably have your own plans and worries."
"That is kind. [...] In case we're not actually headed for Brokenbank...
Unless Oden is trying not to be heard, Reguh hears this part of the conversation between Oden and Vincent.
Heidi then calls out to you all:"Ahoy again heroes o' th' Isle. Th' cap'n has cordially requested yer company in her cabin in about an hour. Come 'n see me when ye be ready t' speak t' her. She has a proposition I reckon will be o' interest t' ye."
Laire was not sure if she was one of that "heroes" but curiosity (and total lack of any other activity on the ship) decided for her here. She was just waiting for others to move first, but she would definitely follow.
Beatrice will go to stand next to Oden, Vincent and Reguh, frowning and scratching over her bottom lip. "I'm not sure I trust this. Something around here makes me uneasy, and I'm not sure what." she says quietly to them, her hand twitching where it rests on the handle of her axe.
If anyone wants to get any further RP in before speaking to the captain, let me know (I'm definitely happy for it to happen).
Otherwise let me know when any group or individuals approach Heidi to go below deck. It currently seems that Beatrice, Oden, Vincent and Reguh have formed a group and Laire is watching out for others to move, and will then follow them to meet the captain.

Vincent makes a calming gesture with both hands. “Of course I will, as little as my voice may count. My work isn’t going anywhere soon, and will never be finished. Now I believe that’s the captain requesting our presence, so let’s go hear what they have to say.”

Oden remembers how perceptive the gnome was in the fight at the bridge, so he cannot take the comment lightly. "Are you worried about the crew of the ship? The captain might want to find a win in this situation, but I'd say that's only fair in return for helping everyone escape."
Oden takes a moment to try and remember if he's heard anything about this ship and its crew.
Aliez follows towards the captain. Watching the group of "heroes" she is now part of. Writing down notes in her book, she hums a quiet tune as she goes.
Tharhun, overhearing the mention to go speak to the captain, walks over and politely smiles, "Mind if I tag along? I'd like to extend my thanks for the save."

"I'm not sure... something about this just feels off. We're getting prioritised over people who have lost everything, and half the crew seem to hate each other." Beatrice says, as they start to walk to the captain. "But maybe I'm on edge after everything else that's happened today."
Can I roll insight on the crew to try and get a better read of the situation?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

I think I'd like to see if I can figure out the relationships between the crew, like what sort of divide is happening between Heidi and the rest of the crew, and how the rest of the crew are responding to the refugees.

"If we're indeed being prioritized, it could mean the captain really wants us to accept the proposition. We might be able to convenience Three Earings to take better care of... the ones who lost everything." Oden's mood visibly darkens at the realization that he, too, has lost everything. Not everything: his brothers and sister are out there somewhere. "Let's get this over with."

Heidi seems to get along very well with Boerth and Kijori (the navigator). Heidi seems mostly tolerant of Dajarkal, though does not treat her as well as she does Boerth and Kijori, and she does seem to yell at Dajarkal at times. Heidi seems to take joy in picking on Dillyu. [In real life, think a mid-level manager who treats staff differently based on how much they like them (I have only witnessed, not been subjected to this fortunately).] If Beatrice has travelled by sea, she would recognise that this behaviour from a first mate is not that uncommon.
All the crew seem to at minimum tolerate the refugees, though possibly for different reasons:
- You haven't seen the captain since being on the Wavechaser, so you cant get a read on her.
- Heidi seems to see an opportunity in having the refugees owe her and the captain favour.
- None of the PCs have interacted with Kijori, though he seems to be flirting with any refugee that is near.
- None of the PCs have interacted with Boerth, though he seems to have spent time playing games with some of the refugees including the refugee children. His games include some gambling, though at times he is obviously letting some of the refugees win and he is making this fact clear by loudly calling out things like "IT LOOKS LIKE THAT 1 YOU ROLLED ON THE DIE IS COCKED! YOU SHOULD ROLL IT AGAIN. WOW, YOU WON, HERE TAKE 4 COPPER. DAMN, WHAT BAD LUCK FOR ME AGAIN, I SEEM TO BE LOSING MORE THAN I'M WINNING." You can roll a perception check to try and glean more about this if you want.
- Dillyu seems extremely compassionate about the refugees' situation.
- Dajarkal seems somewhat compassionate about the refugees' situation, though definitely seems to care more about animals than people/humanoids. She has been sneaking food to animals and not people.
Heidi leads you all downstairs to a cabin and motions for you to go in (Maltake is ushered down if he did not voluntarily go with the rest of the group).
Inside, the tabaxi captain is hunched over a wide table, puzzling over a map pinned to its surface by a half dozen knives and daggers. Several golden rings glisten on her paws as she traces potential paths through the ocean. She glances up at you all with her emerald eyes as you open the door, and her feline face spreads into a sharp-toothed smile that is equal parts cheerful and unsettling.
“Ah, welcome,” she purrs, ushering you to sit around her private dining table. She continues speaking, as anyone who chooses to takes a seat, “Three Earrings has much to discuss with the heroes of the Isle about the island sinking, about how to stop this happening again and about the treasure we can find if we return to Flora Isle, yes! I am sure you all have many questions, yes? Three Earrings likes to share information with her friends, though Three Earrings likes to at least know the names of any new friends that she makes.” She looks at you all expectedly, waiting for people to introduce themselves and then to ask any questions that they have.
Beatrice tenses, pulling her hands away from Nessa as she tries to keep them from shaking. "Right," she says. Yep, go ahead. Also - what specifically are you trying to figure out?
