Darla smiles brightly at the woman, giving a quick look around the place(perception: 17 ) as she makes her way to the bar. "A good day tae ye, dear. Ah'm lookin' fur some info, an' Ah suppose a pint would ne'er hurt me, aye?" She laughs a bit, hopping up to sit at the counter.
((Sorry I didn't address the Perception roll, before...))
The bar looks nicer than most dive bars you find yourself in during your travels. It's not fancy, per se, but it's cleaner. It has polished wood tables with nice black iron trim and legs. The chairs are polished wooden stools with black iron metal backs, support, and legs. The bar top itself is nice and polished. The barkeep, Mellia Roper, is wearing a white button-up shirt with black slacks, and she has her brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. When you walked into the bar, she was polishing one of their pint-sized glasses. They don't use tankards, here. There is brass all over for trim, adorning the natural polished wood: brass hand rails, brass rivets, brass trim around the windows, etc. Right now, being that it's in the middle of the day, there aren't a whole lot of other customers in here, but the one or two that are there are sailors. There is a combination of booth seating, bar seating, and regular open table seating. They even have some patio seating outside.
Darla frowns a bit, but quickly schools her expression, taking a long swig of her drink. "Well, better'en Ah had a few minutes ago. Much appreciated darlin'." She winks at the barkeep, then finishes her drink, leaving enough coin for the drink and a very nice tip. She steps back out of the Flying Whale onto the busy street, considering if she should ask around a bit more, but knowing they're on a bit of a time crunch decides to head back and catch up with the rest of them.
"Thanks for stopping in," Mellia says. "It's always nice to see another halfling." She smiles and notices the money (we'll say you left 1 silver?) and says, "And thank you for the tip. Be safe, now!"
As the party arrives back at the ship, Captain Three Earrings looks at them and says, "Did the bard get lost on the way back?"
"She wanted to track down a lead real quick before returning," Nalos responds.
"Ah, I see. Hopefully, she doesn't take too long. We have some business to attend to, after all." Then, seeing that some of you are carrying the breathing bubbles she smiles and says, "So, I see you delivered my letter and the smithy gave you what you need, yes?"
Usul nods holding out the bubble excitedly saying "We got these!" and then puts it on his head and tries to take a big breath. Taking a couple of breathes he remembers that it only lasts an hour, and pulls it off his head carefully setting it somewhere safe ((how big are these things? Is it like carrying an actual helmet?)). Then says to the captain "What else can we do here in town? And how much time have we got again? There is so much to see!"
Captain Three Earrings smiles at Usul's enthusiasm, but says, "Well, if you've got everything you need, we need to be getting underway as soon as your friend gets back here."
"Well..." Usul says a bit bashfully "You had said you'd help us to get supplied as well... If we're going to be fighting we'd hoped to strengthen this old leather" he pats on his leather armor "... and I think my friend needs some magical components..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((persuasion 8)) ... "Yes..."Usul says, slightly ashamed to be asking for more than the help they'd been given... then looking up and with a sudden thought and says "Ah! But I just remembered something! Be right back!" And immediately dashes off the ship, flying past Darla as she makes her way back.
Usul makes his way back to where he'd seen the gnome (and/or other) urchins hiding in the alley counting their few copper. Walking up he pulls Dib out of his pocket, casts Minor Illusion to make the sound of laughter as he smiles, and goes to each of 7 children, ruffles through their hair, and hands them 1g in turn, letting them pet or hold Dib for just a minute before he jets back to the ship.
Just a note, though it's not likely to happen - If anyone tries to follow they likely wouldn't be able to b/c of Usul's background trait:
Feature: City Secrets
You know the secret patterns and flow to cities and can find passages through the urban sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in the city twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.
Darla see's Usul rushing off as she is returning, throwing a curious look in his wake, before shaking her head and continuing on to the ship. Ascending the boarding ramp, she see's the group speaking with the Captain, and makes her way over.

Darla step's up to the group, getting a feel for what was being spoken of, and interjects(assisting with Usul's persuasion check), "Th' helmet's are a fine thing, certainly, but if ye expect tae see any o' us make it back tae the surface as more than a floatin' corpse within an hour, we're gann need a wee bit more o' somethin', sweetheart." Captain Three Earrings considers Darla's words and says, "Those helmets have a one hour limit? Hmm..." she ponders a bit more and then says, "Okay...I'll draft another letter. I will also expect you to not read this one, as well. You take it to the apothecary. They should be able to give you what you need. But, this better be all. You're costing me money and at this rate, we won't make the money back that we're losing on this job." She then describes where in the city the apothecary is. It's not far, but it is, once again, off the beaten path.
Darla takes the letter, nodding at the Captain. "Ah understand, but this isnae exactly a simple job, aye? Dinnae worry, ye'll make yer coin." She looks to the rest of the group. "Any o' ye joinin' me fur one more jaunt tae town?"

Nalos takes a moment to consider, "It's probably a better idea that we all stick together - just in case. This isn't the safest place to be, especially if you're not moving in large numbers."
Darla smiles at Nalos, "Awful kind o' ye. We've nae had a chance tae really chat either." She begins to make her way back off the ship, looking over her shoulder at Nalos. "Well, c'mon then sweetness. We'll see about collectin' Usul on th' way if we see 'im, and in th' meantime, you an' I can get better acquainted," she tosses him a wink before taking a somewhat more serious tone, "startin' with how ye got yerself involved in all o' this. Ah cannae recall seein' ye 'round th' island before it all went tits up."

"Oh, I was there," Nalos said. "I had been making a point to keep my head down." He gets quiet for a moment, then he says, "for the sake of honesty and building trust - I'll tell you this: I have a lot to atone for. My life before arriving at Palma Flora was one of violence and deception. It was...the opposite of how I was raised. So, I kept to myself, sleeping underwater in a submerged cave that I made into a home."
Darla takes a little while, considering his words as they walk, before giving a shrug. "Well, fur what it's worth, th' only you Ah know, is th' one what nearly died tryin' tae save folks durin' that attack. Never met th' you that did what ye say ye need tae atone fur, an' ye sound keen on not introducin' him, so yer good in my book." She reaches a hand up toward him for a shake, smiling brightly. "Pleasure tae meet ye, by th' by."
