The creature takes 7 points of damage from the kick and 6 points of damage from poison as a result of making contact during these kick for a total of 13 points of damage.

The abomination is dead.

As soon as the other attackers see that the creature is dead, they disengage from the fight and jump back into the water.

Three Earrings emerges from her office with a bloody sword and she yells, "After them! Take the equipment I got you and finish this!"

Stanley distractedly walks over to the abomination with a Sharkbody, wanting to examine it further.

"What are you doing," Captain Three Earrings asks. "We need to get after them before they get too far away. We can examine the dead later. Right now, let's concentrate on keeping the living alive."

"If we know more about what we're fighting, we may have a better chance," Stanley replies.  "It may also have something useful on it.  Just give me second,  I'll be right behind you all."

Your medicine check doesn't help a WHOLE lot, but you feel confident that what you're looking at is not a natural occurrence. This is not a species of creature, but it was somehow made, you think. Biologically, you can assume that due to the fish gills, it could breathe underwater.

Your investigation check allows you to confirm that there is nothing on it. The only weapon it had was it's mouth full of shark teeth.

"Easy there," Darla says to the Captain. "What's th' sense o' chasin' em? They dinnae grab nothin', everybody's still right 'ere, an' if they knew enough tae ambush us, what's tae say they dinnae have a surprise waitin' fur us if we follow?" She walks toward the rail of the ship, looking cautiously down at the sea. "We'll be goin' fur a dip soon enough, aye? Let's nae be goin' in half cocked. Ah fur one still'd like tae get an idea o' what's down there first."

"Unless you go after them while the gettin' is good, then it's not 'soon enough'...aye?" You can tell that she's getting annoyed. 

"Jumping in and following them to their home when they know we are coming doesn't seem wise..." Usul says, continuing "but understanding them, and then sneaking up when they aren't ready can help us get in and out more quietly."

Snurk gets the impression that the Captain's motives are less than altruistic. He gets the feeling that she's just using you all and she's getting annoyed that you're being uncooperative.

"Your want to take time to understand them?" She taunts. "Maybe we should open a research station on shore and start dissecting them. Maybe they won't use that rod to destroy more of us land dwellers in the mean time."

"You know, I'm wondering if that rod has something to do with these creatures," says Stanley, gesturing at the sharkbody.  "It's obvious this isn't natural."

"Wee dramatic, innit." Darla mutters to herself, rolling her eyes at the Captains words. She turns to the rest of the party, whistling one high note to get their attention. "Well then me darlings, we're 'ere, an' clearly they arenae happy tae see us. Nalos, Snurk, Ah'd appreciate it if ye'd be so kind as tae take a quick swim around an' let us know what we're lookin' at if possible. Dinnae wanna go usin' any o' our waterbreathin' gear prematurely, since we'll be on a timer, aye?" She gives her Rapier a twirl. "Since they know we're 'ere, we ought tae be very careful. Give it an hour tae scout and prepare, than th' three o' us," she gestures to Stanley, Usul and herself, "can take our potions, and hope we dinnae meet a watery end. How does tha' work fur th' lot o' ye?"

Snurk walks up to the Captain, squarely in front. He smacks his belly, stretches his arms wide, spear in hand, and then proceeds to lay down on the deck like this is the laziest of days.

More froggy mannerisms and nonverbals that don’t always make obvious sense to outsiders.

"You'll be giving them an hour to dig in, Darlin'," the Captain says in frustration as she walks away.

"Oh sure, let's waste part o' our two hours o' breath wanderin' 'round th' sea floor lookin' fur th' bastards then." Darla looks to Stanley, rolling her eyes as she says, "She's made it clear she dinnae care if we live or die s'long as she gets her prize. Why's she hink we'd listen tae her when she says tae just 'dive in'." She turns her gaze to Nalos, and Snurk laying on the deck. "Still, if we're gann tae do this at all, we need tae get tae it. Can th' two o' ye at least get us our bearings so we can go, pretty please sweeties."

Nalos looks at Snurk and says, "I'm ready when you are."

Snurk glances back at the captain before taking a slow, lazy walk to the edge of the deck and dropping into the water.

Since Nalos and Snurk are underwater, I am taking that portion to private DMs with nschrock. They have only been gone for about 2 minutes at this point. What is everyone doing while they're gone (if anything)?

Darla sits down, oiling her blade and making sure the gear she's taking is in good working order. (Short rest if possible)
