"It was. Not the one cult used, but the real ghost ship that attacked the cultists. We found some pieces of real "Audacity" on the island. Not sayingi the people living there have anything to do with the ship's death, just that informing that there are evidence of it's destruction".
"Also, of note. The people of the island were very much isolationist. They were weary of new commers, barred us from exploring into the woods and head up by three crones. We didn't spend over much time investigating all that as it was lower priority but I feel that Ixas was searching for that mask and or info about it and those people were hiding something. Could be worth more investigation." Uragum says.
Aleyd thinks for a moment and imparts, "Thank you, that information will be very helpful, if you don't mind marking the location of this island. The Black Fist rarely looks outside of Phlan, but this sounds worrying enough that I would like to have this as a lead should any other issues from the coast arrive."
"Otherwise, that is all I need. Thank you for keeping me apprised," she says, shaking each person's hand.
OOC: Let me know when you are ready to move on to the Doomguide.
OOC: There was not any payment arranged with either Aleyd or Yovir. Yovir had given you some potions of healing to use, however.
Doomguide Yovir Glandon is arranging tools within a shed when you make your return to the Valhingen Graveyard. He wipes his calloused hands clean on his grass-stained robes and eagerly shakes your hands, smiling to see your safe return.
"Tell me then, was their anything to the rumors? Phlan remains safe, as you can see, but I know not whether that is a sign that these attacks have ended," he says. "Your horses certainly look healthy. If you wish, I can have one of my acolytes return those for you."
"Much appreciated, Doomguide." Ola waited for Uragum and Sylyra to tell the story just underlined in few words the evilness of the dragon skeleton statue and necessity to keep it away from the general public. "The people on the island might be in need of a guidance too. Or at least a watchful eye. Whatever they are worshiping there, it does not seem like a benevolent church of a kind god."
Uragum proceeds to tell the Doomguide the story much as he had Aleyd. He also pulls out a copy of the journal to provide as well. "So for now, all seems safe. However, with the dragon cult about and rumors of a mask in the area, it may be a matter of time before they cook up something else. I dont know but I would think the best way to go about that would be something more inconspicuous... Literally storming up and down the coast and attacking draws alot of eyes."
"Before today I was not aware such an island existed. By the sounds of it, they were around while Old Phlan was here, before the time of Tyranthraxus. I am not concerned about them. This Cult of the Dragon, however..." Yovir contemplates, poring over the notes in detail while he obtains your report.
"They could be a real threat. If they had this kind of power, then should their search take them to Phlan itself, we will have a problem. I know not if anyone will listen, but I believe it is in our best interest to warn everyone who will."
"I am curious about this statue. If it was used to rip the truth from Yip at the cost of his mind, then I believe I may be able to use it to reverse the process...repair the damage. If you are willing to part with it, that is," he says.
"We are,"Ola answered confidently (after all, they did discuss it and decided to gave the statue to the priests). "In fact, we hoped priests can take care about that thing. Though if Dragon Cult is interested in it, may be it would be better to keep it hidden. If you need any help with it or anything else, do not hesitate to send for us."
If everything was settled, Ola had some business in the city and was ready to leave.
Uragum responds as well. "The statue is indeed curious and while I would like to know how it works. It is beyond my ability to control it and of it affects the mind then I dont want to risk losing mine. Good luck to you on figuring it out though."
With that done. Uragum is ready to move on as well.
"I will certainly treat it with caution," Yovir assures the party. "If it is not able to save Yip, then I will see to its destruction."
"Before you depart...are you taking the young one with you?" He asks, looking to Elisande with a friendly smile. "I can find a place for her here in the Order of the Silent Shroud. Here she will have shelter and friendly faces without being thrust into dangerous situations."
Elisande gazes at the massive structures throughout the Valhingen Graveyard with wonder etched on her face.
"May be you are right and that is the best solution. I planned to ask around if someone is ready to take in a child and had a few houses in mind, but if the Order is willing to help - she would get more than a home, she might get a future." Ola hugged the girl and with the most kind and convincing tone she could master explained. "Elisande, you are a great companion. But you need to learn a lot before you can join the dangerous battles. These nice people here will teach you and I will visit every time I am in town. Be nice to them, learn all you can and I'll see as soon as tomorrow, if gods willing." She hugged Elisande one last time, bowed her head to the Doomguide and looked at the group. "I'll check in with the Alliance and return to the tavern. I'll see you there".
Ola planned to visit Dornal Whitebeard to ask if the merchant Gilfron Milon made it back safely. Then she could finally get some proper rest.
Elisande doesn't seem to be fazed by the sudden changes in her life, instead gazing at the graveyard like it's a playground. "Okay. But only if you come see me. And take me with you sometimes!" she says.
As you depart the Valhingen Graveyard, Phlan, growing familiar, beckons for you to rest. Unbeknownst to most of its citizens, the town's burgeoning adventurers have dispersed the shadows over the Moonsea that had threatened it. Life continues within Phlan undisturbed, the immediate threat ended. However, it seems that it has become the battleground of a mysterious cult.
OOC: We are now entering ten days of downtime. As usual, try to include multiple activities in one post and I will resolve them in one go. Be sure to check in with your factions (I'll resolve Ola's visit to Dornal in the next post as well), do any buying/selling as you want to manage your inventories, and let me know any other downtime activities you wish to do.
I will first return to The Laughing Goblin to check in with Olisara Lightsong if she is in. I will reveal all that occurred on the island and on the ship, hoping she might shed some light on the confusing events of finding a ghost ship tangled up with the real ship full of fake ghosts. I'll also make sure to mention the crones and the forest.
Next, I will return to All Questions Answered to update Delacrae on the location of the island. I will also hint that the party might be available in the future to help her with jobs.
I would like to buy a shield, a club, and an herbalism kit. (15 gold, 1 silver)
Using my herbalism kit, I'd like to make one antitoxin and two potions of healing. (75 gold, 3 days)
I'll spend one morning writing a letter to my mother. This letter will highlight the important figure I've become in the Moonsea region. It will not ask for money. It will not mention wanting to come home. My tactic in this letter is to make her miss and wish to see me.
With business concluded Uragum stow his items back at his room at the inn and head to his usual stomping ground, the pit fighting rings. He'd spend his first 5 days working out and then fighting in his matches. He relished the workout, the competition and honing his combat skills, not to mention the coin. Wizarding was much more expensive than he thought it would be.
Three checks needed: Athletics 18, Weapon attack (switched out from Acrobatics) 14, Constitution check 11 + 2
Wow a poor showing... I guess he will spend his 2nd set of five days trying to get himself back into better shape in the ring again.
Three checks needed: Athletics 6, Weapon attack (switched out from Acrobatics) 23, Constitution check 22 + 5
