"The gemstone that we took from his toe," sighed Onyx as he finished tying the oracle up. (( Dexterity Check:7 )) "It was what was killing him, but there's also apparently something special about it. Not sure what."
"Might as well be frank here: my patron wants it. I only agreed to extract it because he revealed that it was also what was killing Urithag, and I had no desire to see him die. Sounds creepy, I know, but while my patron, Ralimgam, is like that sometimes, I've never known him to be malicious or evil. He might have wanted it to keep it from these... creatures, to stop whatever they were going to do. Or he might have just liked the color. I didn't really have time to grill him.
"Soooo.... I had planned on giving it to him as payment for saving Urithag's life. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to give it to you, Grahl, but I was hoping we could come to some sort of deal ourselves. Like maybe I could trade you an artifact or my share of some treasure we come across later, if you'd agree to me keeping it."
The warlock suddenly scoffed, as if suddenly coming to a realization. "Of course, that still leaves me down a step in terms of walking away from all this with anything worthwhile. But... I guess it was worth it. Urithag's alive, even if he'll hate me for it."
Grahl looks a bit confused when Onyx speaks of his patron.
Bah..he spits on the ground .. Orc life no worth relic, orc traitor. Human make bad deal. Grahl starts pacing a bit pondering what powers this relic would have but shakes his head. NO.. relic not orc to take. Grahl not earn relic, not Grahl to give.Trying to resist the urge to be empowered and perhaps fight with even greater glory. But it be stolen like Urithag did, so Grahl cannot take it even though he is curious as what it would do.
Orc disgrace orc tribe, take away their honor. Grahl no do same.Still pacing. He says this as much to Onyx as to himself to stand firm in his beliefs to serve his god and not succumb to the weakness that Urithag did.
Why human god want take relic? Grahl looks at the orange oracle, tied up and probably still unconcious. Ask creature who relic belong to. If belong to orc tribe Grahl take back to tribe. Bring back honor. If not Grahl no want it.He doesnt even mention receiving part of Onyx's treasure, quite franky he cares little for the items or gold. The relic could bring him glory in battle, but it is tainted with betrayal and not earned.
Onyx blinked. He had been concerned with whether Grahl would understand fully, but he apparently did. The warlock nodded in agreement at his logic. "Should we try to wake her now then, or do we want to rest up a bit first? She'll probably wake on her own in a couple hours if we're all content to wait."
"Well, I care little for what happens to the orc. He has proven himself rather untrustworthy. While I was not going to stand by while these two oracles cast their spells and rituals, I'm not entirely sure I wish to spend all our time on this orc. Like Grahl says, he has little honour from what I can see." Arbon leans on his mace as he talks, then looking to the unconscious oracle, "Do you want me to heal and revive this oracle so that we can question them? Or just wait for them to revive on their own."
The group waited several hours and the orange oracle did indeed wake up, fully aware of it's new situation. It addresses you in a normal tone, absent panic.
"So everyone's dead and you have your gem. Be on your way!"
It waits for your next action, not revealing any information that it doesn't have to.
Through its speech, its words are laced with something familiar to the ear of Chazrael...
As you are familiar with monsters and have some knowledge of the world, you are able to determine at close range and that this oracle creature is in fact a Dusk Hag whose clearly been separated from any semblance of a coven and burned up all its magic.
You are aware these creatures are said to be able to wander about in dreams in astral form. Its clearly been made aware of knowledge it could not physically posses unless its mental projection stood by and listened as its body healed...
Perhaps this creature knows something of the ghost bird?
At the same time, during the hours that passed, Urithag silently slipped from this world a ruined mess.
Laying strewn among the bodies of dead and unconsciousness birds-a fitting end for one such as he.
Feeling refreshed, the warlock went to check up on Urithag--only to find him unresponsive and cold.
"No!" he snapped. "After all that?!" He ground his teeth for a second, then just bowed his head and stood. He had thought Arbon would heal him... but when he expressed distaste at the idea, he didn't exactly rush over to administer first aid; he just sat down to rest, instead. He should have known the orc's need for further attention was far too urgent to ignore.
"I thought he'd do it... but I could have taken action myself. This is the result of my own self-centeredness." He silently cursed himself before turning back to the others.
"Well," Onyx began bitterly, glaring at the oracle as if it was her fault. "She's awake, Grahl. Might as well get your answers now before we move on."
As Onyx calls out Grahl gets up from his resting spot having calmed down a bit as they waited.
Tell Grahl now, who relic belong to?
His question short and direct. He does not take his weapon in hand, feeling he does not need to back up any words with treats. They have already proving their capabilities.
(ooc wow just as the bad rolls seemed to have passed.. yet another double nat1)
Arbon looks around the room and nods, then his jaw sets as he looks back to the captured oracle., "Yes, everyone is dead. Except for you. So perhaps you'll answer our questions as your life was spared."
The hag responds casually by lifting its neck in acceptance of its fate. It looks to the roof of its cave and speaks without emotion,
"We were the revenge that has been carried out. I admit-the will of the gods is mysterious...whomever currently possess the gem must be willed to have it as it continues to elude me even as I carry out their desires. I've chased, murdered, and, tortured for them and yet..."
It closes it eyes.
"Unless I am simply unable to fulfill their first, and most important task. In which case, I deserve death anyway."
Anger, smothered in regretful acceptance.
"Whatever force seeks the gem has it now, be it gods or not."
"Then I say we destroy it," Arbon says to the others, "Whoever this god is and whatever they want this gem for, it can't be good. Especially given all we've seen so far in this place." He pulls out his light hammer as an indication he is ready to smash it right there and then.
"Whoa!" replied Onyx, his eyes widened a little in shock and surprise. "Why would you want to destroy it? They failed in their mission; they won't be summoning anyone any time soon."
He pulled out the gem again, holding it up to the oracle, looking at her askance. "And you clearly weren't working for Ralimgam, or he wouldn't have had me save Urithag by pulling it from him--he would have just told YOU where it was, so you wouldn't need to keep hacking him to bits."
Onyx examined the gem curiously, as if trying to see what all the fuss was about. "Alright," he said finally, "I'm tired of games." Keeping the gem behind his back and away from the oracle, Onyx leaned in close to her. "What exactly does this thing do?"
"The gemstone that we took from his toe," sighed Onyx as he finished tying the oracle up. (( Dexterity Check: 7 )) "It was what was killing him, but there's also apparently something special about it. Not sure what."

"If you want to rest, that's fine," Chazrael says. "We can wait for her to wake."

Arbon looks around the room and nods, then his jaw sets as he looks back to the captured oracle., "Yes, everyone is dead. Except for you. So perhaps you'll answer our questions as your life was spared."
"It belongs to whomever posses it and I could care less about my future life as a prisoner and or lonely cave hag."
It looks down defeated
Grahl growls at the creature. Walking up to it No cry! Creature no punish orc if relic belong to noone.
Giving it death seemed what it wanted, but Grahl would not give that to the hag. At least not yet.
Creature serve gods no? If no fear Grahl fear gods. Creature keep relic from true owner, need punish like orc?
Trying to intimidate the creature using its belief of the gods or their own methods that they used against Urithag
Chazrael holds his bow in case something attacks.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

"And what is their first and most important task, old one? What was it that you weren't able to complete?" Arbon says.
"The would be returning the gem" The oracle says without shifting or changing
"Then I say we destroy it," Arbon says to the others, "Whoever this god is and whatever they want this gem for, it can't be good. Especially given all we've seen so far in this place." He pulls out his light hammer as an indication he is ready to smash it right there and then.

"It is the beginning of immortality."
The oracle noticeably does not address the idea of destroying it. Its voice has calmed significantly since the idea was brought up.
"To understand further, I would have to kill you while you held it. Only then could you truly understand."
