"Just a minute, Arbon," asked Onyx. He was looking at the body, with the occasional glance at the scattered items from the demon.
"I agree with you, I feel we have no choice but to face this. But I also think we need to take a minute to recoup here. Rest for a bit, and take stock of everything. I can cast Identify now, so perhaps I can look over these items, or some of the ones we've already found. Provided that strange pearl I found works..." He paused a moment at that, mulling over how badly using the demonic brazier had went.
"In any case, just a breather might do us good."
He pulled out the "pearl" they had found. It still seemed suspect... as if there was something moving underneath the surface, as if the gemstone was actually some sort of tiny egg.
"Well, maybe I'll find a way to cast it later," concluded the warlock under his breath as he tossed the "pearl" aside, before walking over to the fallen monk to check his vitals as best he could.
(( Medicine Check:7 ))
(( After the brazier incident, Onyx just doesn't trust the "pearl" we found. We'll have to just attune to the magic items on the floor for an hour and risk any potential curses. If anyone wants him to try anyway--knowing if anything here is cursed could be important--he'll try, reluctantly, but will try using the pearl to identify itself first. ))
Onyx walks over to the monk pulling him up before immediately confirming with zero suspicion that this man's face, 30% of which was still imbedded in the floor, was no more. He died around the third or fourth hit, the rest simply crushing the bones and muscle to a pulpy mess for...intimidation?
Onyx also finds a little wooden cross in his right hand. Its wooden handle has grip marks so deep they look carved but are clearly from the monk squeezing them for dear life while being tortured.
"You're right, Onyx," Arbon says, relaxing somewhat as the danger seems to have passed on. "Perhaps we take time to enjoy a longer rest to fully recuperate? We'd just need to find somewhere safe or hope nothing comes along."
"Well, looking for a resting spot further ahead might just lead to more trouble. Hmm. I could blast this stone platform into pieces, maybe we could use the larger chunks to barricade the doors in this room?"
Onyx began throwing blasts toward the platform, continuing until the largest piece was just big enough for a couple of movers. Finished, he wiped his brow. "That should be enough. Now... let's have a look at these items."
The room remains still while you all rest and distribute your loot. The voice is definitely watching with you, and at times you wonder if it will make an attack, but you are all able to rest thoroughly nonetheless. When you can no longer stand the drudgery of staring at this death chamber's unchanging stone walls, the door where the Crusader came crashing through remained, an impending firey death awaiting you at the end.
Arbon greets the others as they each rise, having taken the last watch for their rest. "I hope you all slept well. I feel we have a tough day ahead as we dive deeper into this hellish hole," he nods towards where the crusader emerged the 'day' before.

Having taken the last watch, Onyx took the time to attune to his new ring. He figured that it made more sense to do so at a time when, if a curse appeared, everyone would be awake to notice. He also opened the padded box he had found a couple days before, pulling out gemstone inside. It still seemed to bristle with energy; he scrutinized it, hoping that maybe some aspect of it might jog a memory that might reveal it's nature or origin.
(( Onyx will again try to examine that dark green gem from page 16 of the thread, hoping to learn more about it. In case rolls are needed: Arcana Check - 11, Investigation Check:3 ))
As the others finally began to awake, the warlock put the gem back away. "Morning, all," he said, trying to maintain a positive attitude despite their surroundings. He quickly took the time to clean up with his magic and apply his armor. Then he responded to Arbon, "ready when you are!"
Waking up slowly Grahl will look around while sitting up. Moving his head from left to right to loosen his neck.
He will then hold his hand in front of himself, checking out the silver ring that fits around his fingers nicely. The blue gem on top of it glimmers with every ray of light it catches. A gift of Gruumsh for his deeds he thinks.
Grahl rested now.he says as he gets up
He feels a larger than normal urge to find creatures lurking in distance and he will watch for it keenly. Taking a moment to simply gaze into the distance. Grahl will find demons.he adds
When Onyx looks at the gem, he is made aware of its brilliance once more. It is a beautifully carved Emerald, hewn from only the most precious of stones. The silver too was polished and shined before it went into its container, having been smelted from only the purest metals. This is more than a superiorly crafted piece of extremely fine jewelry. Even the most talented gemstone artisan would relish the opportunity to even hold such an item. (Investigation)
He can also feel that it is magical, it would be hard not to, but he cannot bring himself to remember or explain said feeling adequately. Its not like casting a spell or learning new magic, more like it's...obscuring? Not quiet preventing or distorting casting but disallowing magic in some way to occur "normally" around it...or as normal as magic can be...(Arcana)
Grahl stares at the empty room and door...menacingly!
The wooden door stood before the ready group, their final trials awaiting them on the other side. As you get closer in the silence between the initial enthusiasm of a long and well earned rest, the scope of matters seem daunting. You are here to remove demons at their root, the beginnings of which lie beyond these oaken planks joined with iron nails. It was a long way down, yet here you stand stronger than ever before.
The call of power, glory, honor, and duty has lead you all here, and your will shall now be tested!
Arbon moves forwards, stopping at the door to take a deep breath. He looks back at the others, then down at his new bracers. "Shall we then gentlemen?" And he reaches forward and opens the door, subconsciously holding his breath a moment as he does, but shield at the ready.
You all break into a cavern when you bust through the door, having come into a much unexpected place. The floor is slanted, and within seconds of crossing the border into the new open rock wall room, you are positive you are walking uphill. A few feet to the left is a solid wall, to the right the way forward.
in front of you...is a mess. Something was cleared chained up here for a very long time and suffered a tremendous amount of pain at its captors.
Willing or not, Fool or not, the crusader's trails have appeared to have finally ended, and the horrific display hours ago a near mercy compared to the unending hell he endured here.
"Let's not tarry here," Arbon motions the way forward, "We don't need to dwell on what has happened, only what we're yet to face." He ensures light and moves along the slope, shield at the ready.

Continueing to walk to the right he will take a step around the corner to see whats ahead. He will also try to look at the floor and listen to whats ahead, perhaps he can notice signs of demons ahead. The blue gem on his silver ring lights up a moment as he focusses on his senses.
Perception: 18 if possible using the silver ring for adv to try and find creatures smaller than Grahl 15
