Onyx stopped, his head turning toward the upstairs door. He looked at Grahl, confused, then thumbed towards the door as he began slowly backing up to the stairs.
Onyx raised a hand towards Arbon, and cast Minor Illusion. Immediately, a rough plank of wood about a foot long appeared in the air between him and Arbon. There were letters burned into it, spelling out a message in Common:
"Someone else is upstairs"
With that, he turned and began ascending the left stairway.
The demon stumbles a few more feet forward and passes onto the first rungs of the rope bridge. Second. Third. By the fourth, it looks as if the Bulezau intends to awkwardly stumble all the way to the gate in a thousand yard stare.
It doesn't even seem to acknowledge all of you being there, and let's Onyx walk up the stairs without intervention or question.
As he reached the door, Onyx reached out to touch it (( OOC: is there a doorknob? )) but hesitated. Instead, he cleared his throat and asked in a loud voice, "Hello? Who's there?"
In front of the thick dark wood door, Onyx asked with a paused hand before the hammered steel knob.
There was a response, though not one of words. Its more of a whimper, like a dying animal or deflating balloon.
At the same time, the demon had walked almost a quarter of the way over the bridge. It's absent stare continued without pause, and the threat of falling seemed to be a distant thought.
Grahl notices the knock and looks at Onyx wondering what it is. But Grahl is not curious enough to go upstairs, instead he will take a step closer to the goatman as the others walk up the stairs.
Keeping an eye on the creature, wondering why it was befriended with a traitor like Urithag.
Onyx gulped. He looked back toward the demon... he wasn't sure what was going on with him; most likely he was simply despondant over the loss of his friend, but surely that wouldn't drive him to something... so final?
In either case, he thought, standing around just watching him wasn't going to get them anywhere. So, squaring his shoulders, the warlock grasped the doorknob and quickly flung open the door, his nerves causing him to take a step back as he did.
The door swung open and the demon's gaze drifted upward...
Perhaps all things worked in this way, the natural order of action and reaction.
Behind the door, the walls and fabrics of this previously once grand bedroom are covered in gore. It was a corrupted mess of an alchemy, butcher, or, leatherworking shop, and you are sure this place has seen no rest since whatever denizen of hell claimed ownership. The ritual signs carved in the walls meant to invoke summoning magics repeat over and on top of each other, removing whatever color was once there and staining the walls in black caustic burns.
In the sudden moment of opening the door, however, you notice a body leap back from the opening. A chain rattles and strains before going taught. A sick wrenching pop and three hard slams on the floor later, the body is now a corpse.
At the foot of the blood covered bed, the third hag lay dead, dressed as the Hunter. It had backed away from the door on its forearms and knees, worn raw from overuse, its hands and feet bound in apparel much too small for its body. You can imagine the circulation of such limbs having long since passed, and beneath old tattered blood stained boots of some kind of leather lay purple-black skin and no feeling. Around its neck lay a thick chain attached to the top of the bed bannister.
The smell now hits you, overloading the senses with a sick punch of rot and blood.
Onyx, and anyone else on the stairs, make a constitution saving throw as the demon begins to sprint for the other side!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arbon and Grahl watch as the demon's hoove crunches the 6th board of 30, and its rapid clattering over the bridge conveys a very temporary state of being for the crossing. The ropes twist and stretch tightly trying to compensate for weight causing it to sway violently. In less than a minute, the fiend will have crossed, and you doubt seriously that you could follow behind!
The smell overtakes Onyx and he is flung to the ground. Liquid bubbles forth from his throat and spews out uncontrollably onto the floor. (4 necrotic damage)
Chazrael too inhales the stink has he ascends the stairs bow drawn. It's not enough to drop him but it's enough to cause a head shake or two as it slams the eyelids shut and brings tears to the eyes.

Seeing the demon begin to run, Arbon yells "Stop!" as he points to the creature and casts a sacred flame at it (I'm guessing it's within 60ft?).
Sacred Flame (Dex Save DC 14 or 2 radiant damage)
"I'm tempted to cut the ropes to the bridge, Grahl," he says the half-orc as he starts to make chase, "But I'm not sure of another way out of this hole without it!"
Arbon stops as quickly as he started running at Grahl's words. "You're sure you don't wish to kill such a beast for Gruumsh?" He thinks a moment, then nods, "Perhaps you're right. No use in us running after him now and leaving our friends upstairs alone. Maybe we should go and check on them?"
The sacred flame erupts above the Goatman's head and showers it in a burning holy light. The skin and fur blister and ignite on top its right shoulder, but it isn't deterred from its course. The beats continues its long strides towards the other end and as Grahl and Arbon walk back inside (?) they can see it finish the crossing. The bridge nearest them swinging so violently anyone on it would most surely be knocked over into the eternal pit.
Arbon watches as the creature continue his sprint across the bridge for a moment more, then turns to Grahl. "Let's go, my friend. We should see what Onyx and Chazrael are up to upstairs. They've been quiet a bit." And he makes his way upstairs, slowly, to the others.

Arbon reads the message and nods, torn between looking upstairs and keeping an eye on the creature, he remains where he is for the moment.
(( Unless the fiend reacts, Onyx will ascend the stairs to the left door. ))

Chazrael will continue to hold his action. If the demon attacks Onyx, he'll fire an arrow.

(DM Question - how far across was the demon when he started sprinting?)

(Does Grahl hear/notice this since he took a step closer to the goatman, perception if needed 20)

"I'm tempted to cut the ropes to the bridge, Grahl," he says the half-orc as he starts to make chase, "But I'm not sure of another way out of this hole without it!"
Clenching his weapon a bit tighter as the fiend moves rapidly across the bridge Grahl moves to the doorway.
Bwah, let coward run. he says in response to Arbon. Unsure if cutting the ropes would stop the fiend or just trap ourselves here.
Grahl lowers his axe again and turns around as the fiend moves further away.
