Sylcan Naïlo: (To Vilana, in the inn)
Having forgotten about the money he found in the ruins, Sylcan stiffened a bit as he registered Vilana's question. "I, uh- I did find some coins back in those ruins. I do not know the value they hold here, but I'm sure I have enough for at least food, drink, and a night's stay. Excuse me, for a moment." Quickly turning away from Vilana, Sylcan hastily strode over to the serving women, leaning a bit towards her, and asked, "Is there a washroom here? I- I would like to wash my face and hands, if at all possible." Yes, it wasn't a lie, as Sylcan did want to wash his face. However, the major reason was because he remembered that he had stowed the coins in his boots, and did not want to pay for anything pulling coins out of his boots. (If needed, Deception check: 15)
"Ok..." The thug says, pulling out his shortsword and tossing it to you. He also tosses you a dagger. "Where you are is Phandalin, in our base, which is under some ruins in the town."
Filing the name Phandalin away for later, Leto needs to know more. "Tell me more. Who is Glass Staff? What is it that you are doing here? What is this beast that will be coming soon?"Leto asks, hoping the thug will prove himself useful by providing information.
"Glasstaff is our leader." The thug says, glancing over his shoulder to the rift. You can hear scrabbling sounds yourself, the other thug climbing back out. "What do we do here? We are taking over this tiny village. You could have joined us, but now..." He looks to be getting some confidence back with his companion already working to climb back out of the rift. "The beast? You will be seeing it soon enough I would imagine..."
Tessa deftly jumps down from her chair as the two robed individuals come in. She moves towards the exit of the inn. She throws back her long wavy blonde air away from her face and walks with purpose towards the two figures. Many eyes are drawn to her for despite being barely more than 2 and half feet in height, she moves with an otherworldly grace. Her eyes are a dark emerald green and very expressive. She is clothed in ill fitting shorts and a tunic with sleeves that extends past her hands. The young lads tunic displays an ample amount of pale flesh on her and is belted about her waist with some cord. She has a unsheathed dagger thrust through her belt. Her feet are bare with a soft billow of blonde hair on the tops of her feet.
As she reaches the exit, she pauses and approaches the table where one of the wizards is seated. She flashes a welcoming smile as she approaches the robed figure. She nods to her and says, "Fair afternoon! Tessa be I. An adventurer by trade. Today be not me finest day. I am a bit out of sorts. Might ye two mages be in need of some blade work? I be looking for work. Might ye be needing a sell sword or know of them that might?" Tessa stares at the woman awaiting her response, a friendly smile upon her face.
You continue on as the two wizardly-garbbed individuals move towards the inn. Crossing the road you head to the Town Hall. Stepping inside you find a female town guard standing at a counter near one of the two doors. she looks to be going through some gear laid out on the table there.
"Can I help you with something?" The guard asks as you enter, glancing up from her work.
"Yes please, madam. I've become lost, and have found myself in Phandalin with no idea of the surrounding area and nothing to work from. Is there a map of the region that I can look at, or any tasks for the town that would help the residents?"
"Map? tasks?" The guard asks with a frown. "You'd have to talk to the town master for those, the miner's exchange might have a map as well..." She nods to the door further away from her. "Through that door you can find both of those." She turns back to the items ont he counter.

"Not a worry." The serving woman says with a nod. She points the way to a side door, that leads into a small washroom area. It is nothing more than a bucket of water with some soap and a towel, but the water looks clean and the soap smells fresh.
"The beast? ((well shit... now I am gonna die... I thought the other guard was done for...))
Leto hearing this shoots his crossbow at the guard still standing, immediately drops it, and attempts to grab the weapons the guard had thrown to him.
"It is a fine piece of work isn't it?" Higgul says with clear pride. "A wizard had some work he needed some bashing done for, and offered this as part of the trade if I dealt with his problem. That was, well, five years ago now, or just about." He glances back to you. "Now what was it that you thought was yours, that I might have?" He gives you a friendly smile, a teasing twinkle coming into hazel eyes. "I wouldn't mind if it were your heart, you are quite a beauty after all..." He is clearly trying to break the tension and using good-natured humor, not trying to be sleezy or anything. He obviously is not at all put out by your red skin or horns.
As they pass town hall, Naivara pauses. "Pardon me, I need to talk to someone in here real fast." And enters, looking for the guard
As you enter you find the guard speaking with a man in scale mail armor, with a tunic and britches under that. She is nodding towards the second door, telling the man to go that way to talk to someone about a map or work.
Thanking the serving woman, Sylcan heads over to the washroom. Glancing around, making sure he isn't seen, he quickly pulls the coins out of his boots, pocketing them in his robe. Straightening up, Sylcan washes his hands, and splashes some water on his face, then dries himself off with the towel. Leaving the washroom, Sylcan makes his way to the table Vilana had chosen in his absence. With his hair just a bit wet, he sits down next to Vilana, when a short halfling woman comes up to the pair.
"The beast? Crossbow Attack: 12 Damage: 5
You do recall that you have your own weapons already, right? You have studded leather armor, the crossbow, and I believe a short sword of your own, plus a dagger. They equipped you already. You can definitely get to the dagger and short sword the thug tossed your way as well though.
Your crossbow bolt misses, skittering off into the rift, followed by a grunt of pain from there as the bolt hits some part of the thug climbing out.
Kierro, a woman has just walked into the town hall, just after the guard has pointed out the door you can go thorugh to find the town master and the miner's exchange. Please see Naivara's post...

((Yes, I know. The point was to take his weapons from him so he couldn't attack me. A guard is likely much more adept at weapon use than Leto would be))
Just to keep things moving and to narrate what happens, since it's clearly combat: Leto (hopefully) picks up the weapons, and will rush at the guard swinging away trying to kill him.
((I'll just add a couple attacks here, and you can roll/rp the rest, until one of us dies.))
round 1:
Dagger main hand: Attack: 18 Damage: 6
Shortsword off hand bonus: Attack: 20 Damage: 1
round 2:
Dagger main hand: Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Shortsword off hand bonus: Attack: 8 Damage: 6
edit... jesus... and those rolls prove that Leto isn't good with weapons :P
Honor can't help but strut a bit, cocking her hip out. "My heart's my own for the moment, but I do appreciate the compliment, especially from such a fine gentleman as yourself."She gives him a smile. "I don't know about a wizard, but that shield there is mighty familiar. I used to have one just like it. Only problem is, I don't know where it's gone." Honor tilts her head."Your wizard say how he came by it?"
The young man turns toward the woman who had called to him. “I’d be glad to help. I’ll find a map and then I’ll be right outside.” Kierro says with a warm smile as he reaches to knock on the door.
"No... I mean," Naivara's eyes widen when she sees Kierro's face. "Umm... we have a job. For the Lionshield Coaster. Searching for missing supplies. If you want to come with us..."

"Ah." he turns fully to her, his voice relatively soft-spoken. "I'd be glad to come with; the map can wait." He extends a handshake. "Kierro Hawklight. Pleasure to meet you."

"What would that be?" Hibbul says with a frown. "I haven't seen you before today..." He truly looks confused. You get the sense he is being truthful.
