(Now Chysen is coming with? Thought he was staying behind. I am fine either way, just need to know.) Anyone flying up to the Mithril, please give me an athletics check for whomever is doing the flying. Chysen and Emmy have advantage on this, thanks to Kierro's spell. I assume Honor is going to use Freedom of Movement on someone as well. Is Naivara going as well?

(Right, I forgot. Busy around Christmas time!)
(Chysen's staying with the ship. Kierro will cast the enhance ability on himself, Emmy, and Naivara/Palvin.)
With both Kierro and Honor's magic to aid them, the thre mount the maelstorm of wind around the lone peak and fly upwards. Kierro flies on his own wings, while Honor and Naivara both ride their dragons. At the top of the peak you finally come into sight of the dragon. It is clearly a female Mithril. She hovers a good 50 feet above the peak of the mountain, obviously not one bit bothered by the turbulent winds churning the air around her. She has a thick, muscular body, and a long, powerful tail that is tipped with a fringe of webbed spines, almost like a miniature wing. Her aspect is like that of a great silvery lion, with a long, tapering snout and a mane of long, horn-like spikes longer than greatswords that run from the crown of her head down to her shoulders. Her scales are a glistening shade of gunmetal blue.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kierro casts daylight on himself so that he can be seen more easily. He then casts [spell]thaumaturgy[/spell so that he can be heard above the storm. With his preparations done, he flies upward to be closer to the dragon. The light from his spell scatters off his angelic wings and gauntlet pin.
With a flourish, he bows his head out of respect. "My name is Kierro. What is yours, mighty dragon?"
He waits for her to reply.
"I come on behalf of the crew of the Rambunctious Tide, a ship caught in this terrible storm. I've pledged myself to protect the members of her crew 'til it can sail safely again. We found her adrift and near capsizing, and guided her to this island before she could sink. However, the ship needs repairs and her crew needs shelter until the storm passes. I ask of you - please grant them your aid and refuge so that they can safely reach the mainland."
(He does not exert control over the mithral. Yet. He'll wait to see how things play out.)
"I am Sharot." The dragon speaks as she turns to face Kierro, smiling as she looks upon him, and showing rows of sword-like teeth. "You say there are people in need of sanctuary and aid?" She glances down towards the peak a distance below. "Let us see what we may do to aid those in need." She then eyes Palvin and Emmy, with their dragonlords on their backs. "A Mercury and a Steel, not overly bad traveling companions, but I would love to hear just the how and why of them when we are done aiding those below." She turns back to Kierro. "Please lead me to those in need of our aid."
The Mithril dragon follows Kierro down, glancing back with a slightly surprised look at the mention of a gold dragon being along as well. Once you reach the ship, the dragon transforms into a winged woman in studded leather armor. She stays hovering above the sand, eyeing the ship as her wings work with the air currents to keep her aloft. She ends up circling the shipmore than hovering, as she does not have the wings for a true hover. "Sanctuary for certain, though I am not certain I can easily provide what they might need to repair the ship." Sharot informs Kierro as she flies back over to him. "The ship seems as protected as you will get it, here in the midst of this storm, as it is in the shadow of my island, so the mountain should give it some protection from the storm itself. The people aboard will need to come off of it though, and I can open a path they can use to enter my sanctum. They will be safe there while they wait out the storm. Not like they can sail a ship anywhere in this storm anyway."
Leareth clarified. "Is anything known about the cause of our current situation? Our very souls have been ripped from us and sundered into pieces, which were then scattered about a new world. That strikes me as not a natural occurrence. At first, I thought I was the only one so afflicted, but obviously not. So, logically. in addition to finding the shards we should also be trying to discover who is responsible for this."
Maril says to Leareth: “It is my understanding that the gods from the old world became fearful or jealous of our power, Dragonlord Leareth. I don’t understand how we were shattered, and furthermore why our fates seem to be linked so closely now.
I agree we should be cautious, and prepare to defend ourselves, but also I think limiting our impact on this world, at least until our power is restored, would be wise. As for this place- I think it is wonderful. A teleportation circle would be nice but is not necessary, but I do think we should evaluate our defenses. My companions and I will use the rooms at the top of this tower here, and I’ll think about how my friends and I can contribute. I look forward to this journey! I hope to meet the rest of the group soon“. (She picks a tall tower towards the center of the complex, for defensibility) .
Kierro breathes a sigh. “We’ll figure something out for the ship’s repairs. For now, though, I’ll inform the crew of what’s happening so things can start moving.”
He descends to the deck of the ship, first thanking Chysen for watching the crew, then finding Lost Salt. “Captain. The owner of this island, a Mithral Dragon by the name of Sharot, has agreed to give sanctuary to you and your crew. This is her island, mind you, so make absolutely clear to your crew that they are to listen to her directions, not go where they aren’t supposed to, et cetera. She’s opening a path to the sanctum, so we’ll move out soon. Let me know how else I can help in the meantime.”
Sharot grimaces briefly, as she lands on the sand of the beach. She looks truly uncomfortable as she furls her wings. Moving to the rock of the mountain, she lays her hand on it, and an opening appears. A stairway forms, leading up into the center of the mountain itself.
Shortly the crew of the ship are climbing those stairs, out of the wrath of the storm, and into safety. The last to leave the ship is Lost Salt herself.
Inside the mountain the crew finds a majestic cavern, with little in the way of comfort. Coins, gemstone, some art objects, and a few magical items are put away in orderly fashion along the sides of the cavern. The items of art, as well as the magic items, are not displayed, but stacked in orderly piles according to its type.
Sharot makes sure all of the sailors are settled, then seals the passage that leads to the beach with a stout stone door. She returns to Kierro. "They will be safe until the storm blows itself out." She explains. "I'll take away any worry about them being unable to resist taking some of my treasure, but then I must return above. Being earth-bound is not exactly easy on me..." With that she walks around, stopping by each stack of treasure, and the treasure disappears, her dragon magic making it part of her form. Then she heads to a passage, transforming back into her dragon-form, and heading up through the mountain to the sky above.
Leareth and Maril The axial dragon looks between the two of you. "You were not here when the sage Eleminster spoke to the others." He stated this as a fact, not a question. "The sage showed the others a vision, one that showed a host of you dragonlords, fighting each other over some other world. In that vision dragons died, dropping like rain from the skies, as you fought among yourself. Gods rose up to battle you, but were also thrown down. A lone figure then appeared, causing the fabric of the very universe to rip apart and close around you. I do not know who that figure might be, but it is clear that individual was the cause of your current situation."
"Thank you." He replies. "I'll need to take care of a few things and rest for a while, but then I'll head up to where you are. I believe you wanted the 'how and why' of our situation."
Once Sharot flies off, Kierro speaks with Chysen, as well as dragonlords and their dragons. "The crew being safe means a lot to me... it means everything to me, honestly. Thank you, all, for helping them."
He collapses against a stone pillar, exhausted by the day's harrowingly treacherous voyage. "We're several miles ahead of the castle at this point, so it'll take some time for them to catch up. Let's get some rest."
(It will take the castle about 1 and 1/2 days to get to you. You traveled 12 hours worth of travel distance in total, at 4 miles per hour, which makes you having traveled 48 miles. In that time the castle traveled 12 miles. They are 36 miles behind you, and it will take 36 hours to travel that distance. You definitely have time for a long rest, and then some extra time as well, prior to the castle reaching your location.)
Kierro awakens, having slept better than he had in ages. He mingles with the crew, making small talk with them, and greets the captain. Then, he flies up toward the mountain peak through the passage to look for Sharot.
Maril replies to the Axial dragon “Thanks for relaying the story… I don’t remember much from my life before, at least from the end of it. I remember my early years better. Hopefully, we won’t fall victim to the same power again. In any case- my goal is to get us to work together.” She smiles. She monitors the progress of the castle towards the group of other dragons, who she assumes are with the ship.
Once the tour is over, she spends some time in the library perusing books to learn more about the geography and history of this world, and then retires to her tower with her draconic companions.
