”You need a leader,” she says flatly. “From what I gather absent a leader you couldn’t walk down a road without causing chaos. As to whether you find my particular brand of leadership appealing, consider - I have stated the cause to you. I’m not leading you all to form a trade empire or conquer a kingdom. I’m leading you to reclaim what was ours. If you prefer to part ways after that, so be it. Perhaps we will find ourselves at odds at a later time. But for now, be rational. Accept my leadership so you can all regain your lost memories. Don’t put pride over your own well being.”

“Pure reason, Latrius. Without a leader we are a plague on this land. A group of unique and remarkable individuals who appeared from nowhere, without memories or allegiances, going about claiming what they know to be theirs, but to the locals could be seen as petty theft? Without order any of you could run amok, decide to live a life free of consequence and burden. Perhaps one of you decided to go on a wanton killing spree? To **** and pillage? That one now reflects on all of us, setting back our entire cause. If someone cannot be relied upon to follow basic orders and avoid embarrassing me, I would prefer they distance themselves from me and my cause and act in anonymity. I won’t be associated with lunatics and vagabonds, anarchists and madmen. We need a guiding hand in this. Mine.”

”Now that is a reasoned argument, Kierro. You could all follow suit. Perhaps I do lose out from those who walk, setting our cause back. A true leader doesn’t need to be liked, loved, or even feared. Results speak for themselves. The means to that end can vary - the right tool for every job as it were. You’re correct, I could lose some uncontrollable individuals, born anarchists, who have antipathy towards me. Jealously is ugly, but common. We need a better solution than anarchic democracy. There’s too many of us to make that work.”
"If you're so upset about anarchists..."Kierro's warm smile turns to pure ice. "What are you doing allying yourself with the redbrands? The ones that spread discord throughout these lands, waylaying supplies and sowing political discourse. You talk of making a good impression for the people of this land, and yet you ally yourself with those who seek to do it harm. That reflects onto all of us, setting back our entire cause. If you want the locals to see you in favor, denounce them.”
"We don't need you as a leader. You have no care for others, as you've disregarded our preferences multiple times. You are untrustworthy -- you speak of our actions reflecting poorly on the group, yet you're standing amongst thieves." Honor gestures at the redbrands. "I find the chances of you being unaware of that exceedingly low."
"Hold on, that's unreasonable," Naivara says, "killing her doesn't do anyone any good Latrius. There has to be a compromise in this. Two groups, Mylene and whoever wants to go with her, taking the items that belong to them. Everyone else in a seperate group, taking the items that belong to themselves. We work to the same goal, trying to figure out what happened. We find a way to communicate between the two groups and we do our bests to help one another without conflict. No one has to die."
”A modified proposal than. The same shared goal - restoration of our memories. The same requirements - absolute candor of all visions past and future, and assurance that all items of power go to their original owner, no duplicity. For decision making I refuse the nonsense of ‘equality,’ but I would entertain the notion of a ‘ruling council’ for decisions regarding the group. This is for us - my partnership with the Redbrands is my own,” Mylene says. “Select two others with weighted votes along my own. There can be no ties, therefore, but it’s agile enough not to be weighed down. I give you my word if the other two disagree on a group matter I will follow their will. I will not modify this proposal again. What day you all?”
Leto is out of his element at the moment, and trying to collect his thoughts. Up until an hour ago he was alone in this world, reborn with no memory other than to reclaim these items. There are now nigh on a dozen people clamoring around who all seem to know each other to some extent. Mylene clearly has the ability to command troops, as she has the Redbrands following her, and this other group seems filled half with those ready to fight, and those ready to follow. For the time being he holds his tongue and his thoughts, but is not willing to work with those who seem to have no ability to control themselves, or aid him in gaining power.
regarding the pick pocket attempt. Leto was off to the side, when it was just the two, but seeing a larger group, and with Mylene directing the Redbrands there's no reason to think he would have remained there. It seemed to me that Mylene walked forward, and put Leto behind her, with the troops behind holding.

Mylene - Naivara
”That would be the original impasse solution, yes,” Mylene agrees. “My group and the rest. I’ve proposed one alternative proposal, a council of 3, so two others in addition to myself, making key decisions, with the previously agreed candor and appropriate distribution of owned items. I’ve never suggested this end in bloodshed. Consider who is using words and reason, Naivara, and who would prefer to unsheathe steel.”

Mylene - Leto
In an oddly human and vulnerable gesture, Mylene found herself reaching for Leto’s hand when he stood close to her during the negotiation. She notices it and quickly resumes a strong posture of arms crossed over her chest, but recognizes that he may have been someone she once relied on for strength and support in their lost past. Whether that will continue to be the case in their new lives time will tell, but she does give him a wordless glance, and a nod, as if to assure him that this will all work out, and she will see them through this safely.
”While a ruling council is a good idea in theory, I don’t see it working well in practice. And it still seems completely unnecessary to me, as half the group won’t listen to them anyways."

Naivara's very confused. Part of her was disgusted that Latrius was willing to turn to violence over this... while another part of her understood why he thought that. Part of her wanted everyone to just start getting along so they could work together through this, and yet it was clear there was going to be a lot of work for that to happen. Her hands were shaking, not from anger but from stress, and she could feel her face and the back of her throat warming up. She closes her eyes tight and does her best to focus on her breathing. "I think... that sounds like an agreeable compromise," she finally manages to choak out, focusing more on holding back the tears the were threating to fall because of her percieved stress.
”Ah, but that’s the beauty of order. They must listen. The individual subsumes some of their own will for the greater good and the greater cause. You know I don’t make this offer lightly. I could be paired with two who would counter me at every turn out of spite. I *want* to guide this group, so know by offering to have two voices each of equal power to my own this is a great personal sacrifice. If we have 9 people doing whatever they want, that simply isn’t functional.”
“Thank you. I know this is obviously uncomfortable for you. I do find men who want to settle everything with flexing and swordplay terribly boorish myself. Perhaps you’ll want to be one of the other counsel persons? Or maybe you’d be more comfortable nominating someone else?”
"If we do elect a council of sorts, I’d say Kierro would be a good choice. He’s trustworthy and logical, and from what I know no one has any grudge against him."

After listening to the back and forth Leto steps forward, interrupting the discussion, to say to the group "If I may. As Mylene here stated, my name is Leto Atreus. As of an hour or so ago I had thought that I was alone in this world with my memories erased. I know see this is not the case. I awoke in the ruins back East of here a bit and was called to by each of these items that you see on me. Though I could tell that they were not 'mine', in the feeling I think we all know, I was clearly placed there for a reason. I know have possession of each of these items that you all want. Most of them are of no use to me, but, as they are in my possession now I do not intend to simply hand them over without understanding what is going on, and whom I can trust." He takes a breath and continues "Mylene here was forthcoming with both her knowledge, or lack thereof, as well as her desire to learn of her, my, our, pasts. Perhaps allegiance is not possible with this group." as he gestures to everyone present, he then looks to Mylene and nods, showing that while he supports her, it seems her methods may not be working "But favors, and pledges, can be worth as much, or sometimes more, than simple gold. If an item in my possession is yours, and you pledge to assist me, us" moving up to stand by Mylene "if and when we should need it, and if I judge your word to be true, I will return your things to you."
”Nonsense, and you know it. The Redbrands are a known local power group, they aren’t a force of chaos. They’ve been established in this region for some time, they didn’t spring up overnight - that would be us, dears. Also, consider their numbers - they’re nearly equal to the town itself. They *are* the ‘locals’ as much as the village residents. They’re very much their own established institution in this area. They’re ‘the devil we know’ to the villagers. We’re the demons they don’t. Or at least we could be, without a proper guiding hand.”
Mylene smiles catlike, making eye contact with Honor. “Consider this also. If you have such a low moral opinion of me, you may have surmised I do value contracts and loyalty. This is your one and only chance to ensure that my ‘nefarious ambitions’ can be curtailed, even temporarily while we resolve this quest, bloodlessly. Simply ensure two people you trust their moral fiber are my fellow counsel people, and I’ll agree to adhere to the results of our votes for the entirety of this mission, until our memories are restored. Tactically you’d be wise to see the benefit in that, if you find me so morally repugnant.”
