"There's no reward involved, it was a personal matter to repay one of my own debts. And what I asked it is neither my business nor yours, as it was someone else's question."
Mylene arches an eyebrow at Latrius’ response. “So you can do the bidding of others on occasion without smothering your wild spirit. In the interests of cooperation and transparency I would ask nonetheless, but I doubt it is of any value or interest to us. One of us, Leto and I, can ask the banshee about the true name, and perhaps the one of us can ask something that will actually illuminate our condition.
”Of course, that’s me treating this banshee as if it were omniscient. Magus, I know we are piling on the questions, but just how did this banshee come to be so knowledgeable? And what limits might we expect to it’s knowledge? Do you know something of its history?”
"I do not know much about this particular banshee, other than that she has a great amount of knowledge." Haman says. "Banshee's, in general, don't have this sort of knowledge, but this one seems to be special." He shrugs. "If you plan on asking multiple questions, I would suggest going in singly, since she will not appear to a person twice, even if they were just with someone who asked a question previously."
"As for my reason for being here." Haman nods to the ruins all around. "I had heard this was a netheril ruin, and that has now been confirmed, though Netheril might be a bit less than accurate, since it seems to be a sarrukh ruin instead..." He msiles at this, clearly finding this even better as far as he is concerned.
”Interesting. We will note to approach this banshee singly, then, rather than as a group. This research of yours into the ruins, of I might ask, is it at the behest of your Thayvian government? Or an independent endeavor of yours? What what I gather Phandalin is a loosely defined city state without firm ties to any larger kingdom, but it sounds as if your Thay likely represents a nation more as I would conceive of it, a true empire.”
If desired in the abstract, Mylene asks for more information on the major military powers of the continent, distinguishing city states like Neverwinter and Waterdeep from organized kingdoms like Cormyr and Thay, to learn more about this land and precisely why Kost feels it is not a match for their homeland as she described it, and to understand more about the place they find themselves. (Trying to somewhat reassert the History Skill proficiency by learning this worlds history whenever opportunity presents itself.)
(If Mylene is having this sort of discussion, that is going to take quite some time, probably at least an hour - if not more. I am fine with that, but what is everyone else doing as Mylene starts having a discussion on the history of the entire region? Naivara has already left, headed off for some alone-time in the forest, what is Latrius doing, how about Leto and Kierro?)

Kierro would stay with Mylene and Hamun as he listens to the description of the region. He would ask Latrius to keep a look out for Naivara while he was wandering, and to lead her back to the ruins if she returned and they weren't finished.
Mylene, Kierro, and Leto have a long and historical discussion with Hamun. He is more than willing to talk, and seem quite able to be persuaded by Mylene to do so with out any real difficulty. When Mylene talks the mage goes unusually quiet, until she finishes, then he would continue talking as if nothing has happened out of the ordinary. His whole concentration seems centered on Mylene, barely even acknowledging Leto or Kierro while she is around him.
He tells you all about his country, and you would get the impression that some of the things he tells you are not things people outside of his peers are privy to. As Mylene asks about other countries, he gives a full description of each, their political alignments, and would answer any question Mylene puts to him to the best of his ability.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kierro studies the mage carefully. He certainly asks a few questions (mostly about the pantheon of deities in this world), but he gets a feeling that something feels off.
What does he stand to gain from this? Is there something Mylene's doing to draw him to her? Is he attempting to cast any spells? What are his mannerisms and body language suggesting? Does he never break eye contact? Where is he looking?
OOC: Did he clarify if he is acting as an agent of the Thay government, or if this is an independent endeavor on his part?
Mylene soaks it all in, must more fascinated with the tales of a larger power like Thay than she is of the local issues of a seemingly simplistic region like Phandalin. She feels more confident in her understanding of the history of this world, or at least some section of it.

This is one of those cases where Mylene’s own personality blinds her from a more objective observation. She is doing nothing more than her usual conversational gambits, a bit of habitual flirtatiousness in her poses and posture, highlighting her curves and youthful beauty with every high pitched laugh and cross of the leg, and the usual expectation that her requests will be met with deference and complicit response.
The fact that the mage responds so readily seems entirely compliant, to her, seems normal, but to an outside observer likely not the case. She has spells and cantrips at her disposal, the magic of a bard, but even a close observation shows she has made no use of any spellcraft, only what she would describe as the sublime magic of Mylene being Mylene. Kost’s reactions being unnatural are a blind spot to Mylene’s own perceptions, it is those who fail to agree with her requests and demands that she feels are the odd ones.
OOC: The DM will of course have to provide Insight into Kost, but as he’s observing I’m just sharing that Mylene doesn’t see how odd it is, and isn’t employing spells.

You would get the sense that Hamun is entranced with Mylene. He seems willing to answer any question she puts to him without any real hesitation. There does not seem to be any underlying motivations from the mage, just a desire to answer the questions posed.

Hamun would make it clear this is an independent action on his part.
”Well this had been both fascinating and illuminating, Master Kost. Despite an awkward start and Tessa’s unfortunate appearance causing a terribly wasteful and unnecessary incident, I am glad we can put that past us and move forward with a friendly working relationship. I know not how long our own quest for personal restoration will keep us in this area, or how long your own excavation will do the same, but I hope our paths cross again. Always a pleasure to have a meeting of the minds with a fellow person of learning and culture.”
She laughs from behind a gloved hand, then stands, brushing off her dress and giving a curtsy, before noting to the others present, “I’m quite pleased we did this, thank you, Kierro, Leto, for attending. I’m hopeful it’s been edifying for both of you as well. Now if we can gather those wandering strays before they get lost, I suppose we can be on our way.”
She seems to hold back from any worse criticisms of those who opted not to partake in the discussion, having made it clear previously how she regards the wild and chaotic spirit of those she perceived as lawless. “I’ll depend on you to keep them in line, of course, Kierro. I doubt Leto and I would have an iota of influence over Latrius’, err, free spirit and love of... the unexpected.” She smiles a forced smile, while being proud of herself for being much more polite in her choice of words, or so she sees it.
You spend about an hour or so in the forest near the well, and that will be enough time to find your animal companion. When you return to the well you can have it with you or leave it in the woods nearby. You are back when the below happens, so are you hiding or in the open?
Latrius
I have you in the well proper, just waiting for Kierro, Leto, and Mylene to finish up their ocnversation so you can head on from here. It has been an hour and a half, or so, that they ahve been talking with the mage in his tent. Are you hiding or are you out in the open?
Mylene, Leto, Kierro, Naivara, and Latrius
Latrius and Naivara would be the first to notice the sound of approaching people. Four individuals are walking down the path from the North, coming up the slope towards the well proper. The four include a heavily-muscled warrior, with a greatsword sheathed across his back, a beautiful blond paladin, with the symbol of Torm on her shield, a human wizard with black hair and gray eyes, and a gnome wizard. You would be able to recognize them from descriptions of the adventuring party that returned the Lionshield Coster's supply crates.
(Will wait on more until I know if Latrius or Navara are in hiding or not.)
Naivara stays in the shadows, not really wanting to be noticed by the people coming down the road. She does follow their progress though, and both she and Vale follow them as they make their way to the well, using the forest to conceal themselves.

(Since Latrius would have spoken before Kierro, would Kierro still say something?)

(Sounds good.)
