Gert let Borris to sniff his hand and carefully stroke ones wolfs head before turning to Nova: "Well, can your "brother" tel us something about goblins here? And about the prisoners if they are still around."
Nova would pause to think about Hugs' question as she'd ruffle Borris' fur and scratch where the metal rested on his neck while Gert worked on freeing him. The wolf, much like a dog would lazily move his foot like he was the one scratching his itch. "Eh. I communicate best with my pack because I'm familiar with their dialect." She'd side glance the other wolves, "I have to try harder with them." Part of her still felt sorry for them though. No one deserved to be chained up. There should be freedom of choice. She'll look to Hugs then to the wolves, "If you guys don't free them, I will before we leave here." While Borris is semi-free to go greet the others, Nova will try her hand at trying to free him of the 'leash'.

"Borealis, how do you get yourself into these messes..." She'll grunt, prying at it. "And the nice elf who freed you asked a question... Okay, kind of freed you... Did you pay attention? Do you know anything?"
Whether she's successful or not, Nova will pause to make a hand gesture for the others to continue forward if they'd like, not wanting to hold them up much longer. She can follow from the rear with Borris.
She wondered if Velda or even Fion might be willing to try to finish prying off Borris' collar/leash since she and Gert couldn't.
Nova would nod to Gert. She would move to help the elf by keeping the other wolves calm as he tried.
After some snarls, wimpering and a couple woofs from Borris, Nova would look up to the others. "A few days ago he saw a human and a dwarf, then the dwarf moved shortly after that." She'd look to Velda who she assumed would take point. "Other than that, we got ourselves something new and strange near the crevasse on the eastern part of the cavern. Be wary." The half-elf will give Borris a pat on the side and hold onto his chain so that it doesn't cause too much sound as they continued.
Gerts first attempt to free the remaining wolves amounted to little more than him losing his grip and falling backwards. Getting up and dusting himself off he readies first another attempt to free them. This time you feel the rods loosen and get the sense that another good tug will free the rest of the wolves.
One more dc 10 strength check will pull loose the rod and free the wolves. Gert since nova is helping you, reroll two strength checks and if one of them is a 10 I’ll count it as the wolves being freed.
Hugs sensing the Nova was addressing him responds with his hands up in the air “Hugs not in charge. Klarg is. I don’t wants trouble for letting wolveses gos”
Originally when Nova called for Hugs back before coming into the cave, she was looking for the little bugger because she didn't trust him from darting off. But when he misinterpreted her joke and took it literally, hugging her, she kind of got a soft spot for the little critter taking shelter behind Velda. Nova will nod to Hugs. "Direct him to me if you must. I've got a bone to pick with Klarg for chaining my brother. Not Hugs." She kicks the bone the wolfs were chewing on.
Gert watches in amusement as Fionn’s attempt to free the wolves has the same result as his first. Having seen enough tells him to move aside and with a final tug removes the pin keeping the three wolves in the cave. Sensing that they are no longer chained, they look at Borris and then Nova giving an almost imperceptible nod to each and then bolt towards the entrance with their chains clanking behind them as they run towards freedom.
Hugs leaps into Veldas arms (or at least tries to) as the three wolves bound past the group towards the entrance. As soon as they are out of sight, gets down and goes over to Nova. You can see him trembling slightly as he speaks “I can takes the chainses off this one if you promises it wonts hurts Hugs.” Upon your approval and assurance he won’t be hurt, Hugs walks over to Borris and very quickly touches a release on the collar and sets it down on the cave floor. Then turns to Nova gives a little bow and walks over to the stalagmite and sits down. Wondering to himself how long this odd group will tolerate his presence. He’s always heard stories of his kind being hated by all the other races and is surprised he’s still alive. You also seen him nursing some injuries from the earlier battle as his eyes move to each person in the group waiting to see where he’ll be dragged off to next.
Velda didn't interfere with anything that went on with the wolves, but she wanted to push on further to check out the rest of the cave. As Cadence and Gert move forward, Velda moves in behind them. She'd have to ask Nova about that whole thing, but right now she was still singly focussed on searching the rest of the cave.

When hugs complied, freeing the other wolves, Nova felt the ice around her heart for the goblin thaw even just a little more.
Nova will follow along the back of the pack with Borris. The Wolf would continuously huff the air as they pressed forward. This was normal to her. It was her brother familiarizing himself with all his sisters compatriots new smells and mapping out their path through the cave for easy return navigation.
(If I direction hasn’t been picked yet, Nova would suggest checking out the weird smell in the eastern part of the cave that Borris mentioned.)

Gert until now did his best to ignore the goblin (meaning, he was aware of his presence and expected any kind of treachery but was not going to befriend the creature). But time came to talk. "What is this "something new" on the east side? Some trap? What other traps we can expect and where? And where would the prisoners be kept?"
If somehow Hugs happened to bee too dumb for such complicated questions, Gert would very carefully investigate that eastern part of the cave on his own.
Hugs seems a bit startled by the barrage of questions from Gert but answers his questions as best as he can with a bit of hesitation in the beginning. “Strange smells ... only things in east sides of caveses is Klarg and his pet. Not sures of any trapses there. Hugs usually told to watch road for travelers.”
With that, he looks terrified at the thought of not being at his ‘post’ “Hugs goings to be in troubles for being heres if I get seens.” Then continues answering Gert’s questions “Only trapses I knows about is flooding the tunnel we just left. And prisoners are keptses on that sides of cave.” Pointing in a general northwesterly direction.
(OOC the module mentions that the wolves can be freed by inhabitants of the cave as an action. So I figured that they new of some quick way, having designed everything, to release them)
Hearing the location of Klarg, Velda takes a torch out of her pack and lights it on Fion's torch, before holding it in her shield hand, and moving forward down the tunnel towards the indicated direction, listening intently for any signs of Klarg or his pet, hoping some of the others would follow.

Making your way to the eastern part of the room you are in currently you notice a fissure past all of the rubble and seeing no immediate danger decide to squeeze through to see what’s on the other side. As you make it through and look up. You see the flicker of light, possibly from a fire somewhere above you. You guess that this enclosed area you now find yourself could be climbed and see there’s a ledge about 30 ft above you.

"I can try to free them now as well, if you are sure they will not attack us." If Nova could assure the groups safety, Gert will try the other chains.
