The group chooses to ignore everything else going on and fast-track their way to the church, though it still takes bordering on twenty minutes to do so. But eventually the 'religious' district of Silverymoon, as many steepled buildings came into view, though each of different shapes and sizes, some featuring stained glass windows, while others featured regular windows, or none at all. As the group had continued their journeys, they had seen many other strange things happening, people with otherwise thin bodies having potbellies as they gorged themselves on food, some of them lying on the ground, trying to lick or scoop at whatever food fell on the ground, even as waiters brought out more food for the gluttons of all races.
Even spotting one man simply staring at the sun, crying happily. Eventually reaching the temple Rose had sought, and though not many, there were people around each of the religious buildings, all of them in varying states of worship, study, or reverie as Rose entered the Temple of Selune.
Inside, it looked very much like the one that was being built in Thundertree though with a few minor differences here and there. And inside, a few people could be found in the common room entrance, where the prayers and other such religious dogma took place - the same type of place where Rose and Gwen had gotten married - only the splendor was on a different scale. Thanks to magic, as well as fine artisan work, when you walked in it almost felt like a VR planetarium of the stars, with Selune on full display, surrounded by glowing motes that represented the myriad of stars in the sky, though they could easily be walked through.
One man was grumbling at one of the few windows that they hadn't properly covered, shaking his fist towards the sun as its bright rays violated the sanctity of the sanctum. Others who either ignored or hadn't noticed the probing ray sat either transfixed by the splendor of the moon and stars, or in devout prayer in the now-dark room thanks to sheets blotting out the sun everywhere but that single window. At he pulpit a woman whom Rose knew as Naneatha (Nana for short) Suaril was flipping slowly through the pages of a book, savoring every word within the book, and even as she reached the last page, she flipped back to the beginning only to start reading it once more with as much passion and intensity as before.
Rose looks more and more upset the closer they get to the temple. She wasn't sure what foul magic could cause what she was seeing nor how it could affect an entire city of people, but it worried her. Still, the mages of Silverymoon were famous for their talent, surely someone had to be normal and working to fix whatever was wrong. Belles words however left Rose with a feeling of dread that she did her best to ignore until they got to the temple. Looking around desperately for someone she knew she sighed with relief upon seeing Nana and quickly approached. Nana? It's me, Rosorla. Are you okay? Whats going on here?
Rose moves in, seeing what one might normally consider normal behavior for the priests (sans the fist shaking) being devout and studious, though as one who had been here for several years in hr life, Rose knew this was anything but normal in the general sense. Rose also knew that Nana was normally in Waterdeep this time of year, barring her monthly visit as she toured several temples in the region. Nana dutifully continued her reading. There didn't seem to be any malediction or maliciousness in her behavior as she stood there in a trance reading the book from cover to cover only to repeat. But Nana seemed not to notice that Rose was there, though not that something hadn't been said to her, as she 'shooed' whoever it was away stating I'm busy studying right now, please find someone else, I implore you. and without skipping a beat flipping to the next page.
A few of those in the temple common room took notice of the group but only passively before continuing on with their prayers, chores, and so forth. In another room, the loud ruffle of blankets could be heard as several were tossed in the air and snapped to help them glide to their positions they would rest in. Rose and Bell continuing on about their business as they needed to.
Meanwhile Root - as much as he loves hard work.... suddenly feels like playing around, goofing off and enjoying himself in whatever way he can (Compelled) and Fallan is suddenly overwhelmed with complete and utterly crippling guilt over something from her past, the sensations overwhelming her and leading her to wallow in that guilt.
Nana whats wrong with you? Please, its me, Rose. Come on snap out of it dammit! Rose moves to try and shake Nana but also stops to take a peeknat whatever she is reading.
“Man, I’m bored Bell...” Root Giving her a look, a grin comes across his face; he gives her a playful slap on the face “Tag! Your it!” He says as he laughs and starts to run hoping she chases him around the temple.
Bell blinks a few times "I... Root we don't have time... I... did you just hit me? What..." Bell looks to Rose. "Uh... Root's never been known for his interest in playing tag. I think we've got a problem. I'm gonna see if I can snap him out of it." After waiting briefly for a response from Rose, Bell chases after Root. Not for tag, but Root would certainly think so. (XD)

Root will use his ki points to dash as Bell comes to chase him. “That’s it! Come on! Hahahaha!” (Moving 80ft) If he can he will make it outside, he will use an action to dodge “Can’t catch me like that slow poke!!”
"No! Root come on! I'm not trying to play with you!" Bell cries as she attempts to chase him down, coming just short at 70ft of movement. Her eyes go wide as root starts to head for the door, and she changes her tune. "Uh... uhhhh the church is the boundary! You have to stay inside or it uh... doesn't count for the game!"
Root makes a dissatisfied face but smiles “That’s no fun, I wanted to race through the city,” He shrugs “but I guess that’s fair since you got them chicken legs! Ha” Root looking back at Bell as she’s running to him. “Alright how about we have a contest, You and me the first one to 100 push ups wins?” Still chuckling he can’t help but feel happy about being alive. He almost died but he’s breathing and with that though He starting to do push ups as Bell barely makes it too him a few seconds later.
After falling to her knees, Fallan looks all around the temple, bruising her knees as she turns in circles without rising up. "Isn't this a temple? Who takes confession here? There's gotta be some way to obtain forgiveness, no matter what I've done! It was a mistake! I didn't expect it to be like that! Who the heck is in charge around here?"
The sight of the already diminutive female trudging around the room on her hands and knees was pitiful almost to the point of being comedic. However, the pain in Fallan's voice was obvious, and her inability to seem to find anyone willing to console her just made the imagery all the more depressing.
As if that wasn't enough, there was a repeating shouting in the brain of those closest to the halfling that just oozed guilt and self-pity while screaming [T] "SOMEONE HELP ME! IT'S AFTER ME!"
Root and Bell begin a rather insane chase, as the two run in near-circles around the room. Strangely enough, no one seems to stop them or take notice that they're aware of, and to bells surprise, the large lizard-man was exceptionally quick, and was easily outpacing the satyr. the chase leaving Bell winded if only in the attempt to keep up. Occasionally knocking something down, including eventually the priest shaking his fist at the sun. The moment he slipped from the sill, the sheet covered the window, and the sunlight all but vanished entirely and he seemed to calm, wiping his brow as he took a seat right there, staring up into the planetary motes of light with contended awe.
Root stops as the conversation takes its turn, and Bell believes this is their chance to subdue him for his own good. Bell charges and leaps at the monk, thinking she has him, when suddenly the world turns upside down as he takes her momentum, and flips her over his shoulder in a toss that was obviously not meant to hurt. And while no damage was caused to Bells body, her body did still impact against the equivalent of cement, leaving several bruises as she landed in an L, upside down, in the corner where the floor becomes the wall.
With Nana, Rose begins to panic a bit, or at-least a similar reaction to it, trying to get the higher ranking priestess' attention. Rose uses the cubbies as foot and hand holds as she climbs still trying to get the priestess' attention, and though she can't see the cover, Rose knew this book well. It was the primary gospel of Selune, with her doctrines, tenets, and such, It was one of the holier books in her sect, and Rose could detect no enchantment upon it.. in fact she even recognized the scratch she had accidentally caused in the cover when she was reading it the first time. As Rose called Nana's attention more ferently, now looking at the book, the woman seemed to notice Rose for the first time as recognition dawned.
Oh Rose, is that you, it's been so long since I last saw you. I hope your studies are going well. You were devout but you never were much for actually sitting down and reading.... I've been pouring over this tome myself, and never before have I seen such revelations in it... and that moment of lucidity passed, as Nana did what she loved, studied the teachings of her faith, and something she strove to drill into others. Her eyes gluing to the book once more, though now she reached down under the pulpit and drew more books, as if not noticing they had been there before, placing them under the one she had read through who knows how many times already.. creating a queue...
From the other room, the ruffling of sheets ceased as Bell crashed into the wall, and an older human woman came out, likely in her eighties, a large frown on her face as she looked at Bell and Root, putting her hands on her hips as she stormed to the pair, knuckling each on the head as she said with all the fury of an angry grandmother If you two have such time to play, then you better clean up your mess,I have enough trouble cleaning this place now that all you preists want to do is sit in prayer! her hands returning to her hips, with a pause in the air, too short to allow for a response Come on, get to work!
As Fallan begins her warbling and self pity, the elderly womans face seems to turn her way, though her expression softens as she approaches the halfling, kneeling down in front of Fallans pathetic path, putting her hand on her shoulder saying I am not of the order... but if you want to young one, I can listen to you- before Fallans psychic screaming hit everyone within the room, causing Nana, the elderly woman, whom Rose knew as the places caretaker, and all the priests whom had been in prayer, reverie, and so forth seemed to snap to attention as the voice in their heads tells them of danger, the youngest not sure of where the voice came from, they panicked and fled. THe elderly woman seemed terrified but she was old and had trouble getting up, slipping back down several times, as panick filled her breaths Whatever it is don't let it get me! Help! obviously unaware of who or what 'it' was but the fear and panic from Fallan had bled into her and the others.
Nana, snapping to attention from her book after the scream, looks around, pulling out a spell component as if readying for battle.. Looking around Who or what is it that threatens you? Where are you? I shall keep you safe! Nana, as harsh as she could be, was a dutiful protector of the frail and the weak, and she was now on the hunt for an enemy she couldn't see. As Fallans voice echoes through Root's mind, his playfulness is replaced with tension, as he too feels the need to fight whatever this 'enemy' was.
There was something going on, but so far, no one has quite figured out what it is.
Roses fear begins to subside bias Nana seems to come to but immediately returns as she begins to make the cue of books. Whatever madness was taking hold of her home must be powerful she concluded. Then suddenly the loud screaming started in her head and she immediately tried to cover her ears to no avail and let out a cry of pain. Crumbling to her knees she began to cry, feeling powerless to do anything, feeling like she did so many years ago when orc hordes were right outside the city gates to bring death and destruction to them all, like how she felt when she heard of the destruction of her birthplace of Nesmé and the loss of her family. Her wounds still hurt whenever she moved, and drained of all her abilities to cast spells Rose simply sat back and cried, waiting for whatever madness it was to claim her too. She closed her eyes to pray when, as if hearing the Goddess she loved speak right to her, a single thought popped into her head. Rose grabbed the amulet around her neck and began to pray to Selûne, asking for sanctuary against whatever evil had taken root in the minds of those around her and for the power to cleanse it from this world. An aura of twilight would begin to fill the room, centered on Rose herself. When the sphere of twilight finished forming Rose focused on all the people caught in its influence, demanding sanity return to them.
(Use channel divinity to make twilight sanctuary, as a base can cure one affect causing someone in its radius of 30ft to be charmed or afraid. Anyone within 30ft should be cured of the charmed affect whoever you say is close enough.)
As the caretaker was the only person to have responded to Fallan's pleas for assistance, the halfling crawled onward towards the older woman. Despite the old woman's fear, Fallan continued to try to almost crawl up into her lap to be comforted as would a small child. The fact that the caretaker was recoiling from the telepathic scream only caused Fallan to attempt to crawl faster. "Yes, yes, listen to me! Help me! Yes, it was my fault, but how could I know? And how would ANYONE be able to predict what would be unleashed? I need protection, it's unrelenting! How can I be free of this?"
