As the group wonders what to do, Jayce and Dust in the Wind inspect the chains. The tabaxi places his paw on a link and it passes through the shadowy chain.
Eliodos believes the chain is anchoring the spire to the shadowfell. They could possibly be broken with strong magic, but destroying their source would the most effective way to destroy them.

Darkfire will approach a set of clothes to inspect it, looking for clues or symbols to who it belonged to....Glancing back at the door, he will message describing what he sees.
The clothes are in various piles around the room. They appear to be full sets of attire left in singular spots. As if a group of people stripped and left everything they were wearing where they stood.
Seeing no immediate threat in the details given by Darkfire, Cailan also enters the tower, approaching the dragonborn and the clothes. He prods one of the piles with his foot, scattering them slightly. "This is most peculiar... we are searching for survivors too then, as naked as they may be?"
"It appears they may have been disintegrated or teleported out....Mayhaps." Not trusitng himself with the doors, Darkfire turns to Jayce or Dust. "Maybe one of you should check the look on this door, being careful for traps..."

Dust in the Wind walks from door to door, stopping at each to inspect them in detail. He is careful not to touch anything as he looks for signs of anything out of place. He makes sure to take extra caution around the floor in front of each door as he approaches. You can never be too careful, he thinks to himself.
"Dust in the Wind will take a closer look at these doors. Touch nothing... this place is bad news."
Dust in the Wind moves into the hall. Both doors on the left are closed and have locks but it is unclear if they are locked. The door on the right is slightly ajar. Nothing seems trapped.
Jayce stays close to Dust as all the doors are being checked. He then slowly tries to open the door that is ajar. Staying in the shadows as much as possible to remain invisible, he steps into the room to take a look around.
Seeing the others become more methodical in their movements, Cailan chooses not to approach the doors with them, instead, standing back 15 feet or so sword and shield ready.
Jace moves into the hall and up to the right door hanging slightly open. Slipping in, he sees what looks like a darkened feast hall. The far wall follows the curve of the spire outside and silver chandeliers hang unlit above several large tables. More sets of clothes are scattered here. Some are piled in chairs in front of rapidly decaying food, while others are scattered with armor and weapons. Arrows are broken around the floor and stuck into the wooden tables and furniture.

Dust in The Wind sees Jayce slip through the open door and pads quietly to stand nearby the hallway opening. He looks to his companions with a sense of urgency.
"Sticking together is how we stay alive. We must follow him... but we must be ready for anything."
The Tabaxi urges the group forward and turns back to doorway, preparing to enter the room himself.
Everyone now into the spire, it remains dead quiet. While there are signs of a confrontation with broken arrows and sword scrapes in the feast hall, the room seems abandoned. There are no other exits visible here.
(This room can be investigated further. A reminder for your other options are the two doors across the main hall and the staircase leading to the next floor.)

The Tabaxi returns to his companions, a perplexed look on his face.
"Dust in the Wind hears something in the tower... It is as if rocks fall from the mountain in the distance."
Questions begin to form in the Tabaxi's mind.... Does this tower even belong here at all? Do these chains bind it to this awful place?
He walks over to Jayce as he contemplates, inspecting the chains to see if they could be removed through force alone.
