Borax happily takes watch as the others eat. As he does so he continues to subvocally intone prayers of guidance and protection.
As they travel along the raised walkway, he looks closely at their surroundings, though the nature of swamps is a bit of a mystery to him. Unsure whether it would be safe to step of the firm trail, he instead trailed behind the group watching for any signs of disturbance, or change in the sounds around them.

"Surely it can't be too much further," he calls out to the group ahead.
((Did any of the locals travel with us, or just give us directions?))
V'rekh thanks Uthred for the meal "I'm used to forage for food whenever I'm travelling, it's nice to have some extra time to travel without that worry." As the rain starts, he welcomes it with a smile.
Turning to Borax, he looks around and tries to identify their current position based on the dwarf's map and the ground they had covered this day "I would say that we are close to the bridge."

Faylen sticks close to the group, but maintains a watchful eye on their surroundings, never one to settle into peace for long.
Glancing at the map, she silently agrees with the notion that they should be arriving at the bridge in a short time. As a precaution, and almost without thought, she reaches to her sides and makes sure her daggers are secure and within reach.
As the ambient light drops to a twilight, Jarrett slips the goggles from around his neck and affixes them to his eyes. He twists a small dial along the sides. There is a small high-pitched whine as a tiny red gem along the bridge of the goggles lights up briefly as the device begins to thrum slightly with power. After a moment, the noise and glow subsides. Jarrett finds that he is now able to see perfectly in the darkness up to 60 feet out, albeit lacking his usual color. Either way, he grins at his ingenuity and gives the others a big thumbs up!
Borax spies a stray piece of wood floating in the water near a tree some 50 feet away into the swamp's waters. From this distance, it looks like a plank from a hull.
V'rekh's keen sense of geography tells him the bridge and river must only be a few minutes ahead.
However, everyone's attention is momentarily diverted as the clouds to the East (your right) begin to glow red, as if lit by a scarlet flame from within them. The weather and canopy are thick enough that no one can make out exactly where in the clouds the light is originating from.
"That is definitely worth investigating, though I would prefer to find a path that heads that direction. How about we get to this bridge first?"Borax continues to walk down the path, though he is more frequently looking toward the East, trying to judge the distance to the source of the light and if it is moving or stationary.
V'rekh follows Borax "let's find the bridge first to make sure we are in the right place." He constantly keeps looking at the red lights "but the ship we are looking for crashed after finding some strange red lights, they may as well be those ones."
Briefly after it started, the red light fades. The party continues along the muddy trail for a few more minutes before coming to a mass of root and vine where the path meets the river. The vegetation acts as a large structure that arches over hundreds of feet of murky river.
OOC: Does this look like a nature formation, DM? Or something that maybe was shaped by intelligent means?
Jarrett looks at the strange lights when it is pointed out by the others, slipping his goggles down slightly to verify the color. "Interesting. This definitely appears to be something done with intent of drawing ships in! But whether or not it is done by supernatural means, is the key question!" He slips the goggles back up as they continue onward, reaching the strange bridge. Jarrett looks to the others as he slowly approaches to check its make and stability.

As Jarrett makes his observations of the bridge, Faylen looks around the area to make sure there are no immediate dangers to the group while they have stopped.
Borax moves to the centre of the bridge, looking for any signs of wreckage, or trails that might lead toward the source of the light. If he sees anything he will relay this to the rest of the group.
Uthred follows Borax but the at the start of the bridge he uses his glaive as pole to see if there is any nasty beast in the surroundings (betting something big like a crocodile or a snake would either skate away or try to chew the pole)
V'rekh smiles after seeing the bridge "at least now we know exactly where we are" he would keep looking east towards the spot the red lights appeared. Hoping to see what caused them.

Uthred thought Jarrett was the less strange of the lot.... but getting to know him, he is not so sure anymore.
He watches in awe and with doubt when the man puts those things in front of his eyes, but eventually replies with another thumb up
good old crazy dude!

"Forgive me for stating the obvious," starts Faylen, "but that seems rather odd." She motions slightly to the red glow coming from the East.

Jarrett is sure this isn't a phenomena that exists in nature.
The dreary weather and growing darkness obscure Faylen's vision enough that she cannot make anything out.
Borax finds another plank lodged into the side of the bridge. The water pressing it against mass of vegetation.
Uthred doesn't seem to stir up an crocodiles, but a school of small fish (barely visible in the murky water) seem drawn to the movement.
As the group surveys the area for a moment, V'rekh is the first to see the red light again. It hangs in the air directly upriver.
