While we may have left the building, Fianna did not leave the area... Having not yet been given the promised reward and payment Fianna is loitering around the main entrance waiting for Fireborn or any of the council to emerge. FinFin is encircling the building to keep an eye on the other exits.
"Once we get paid, we'll do everything we can for Molo even if it means leaving this backwater, podunk town and finding a priest with true regenerative powers. I've not seen such but I have heard they exist..." Fianna assures the party.
While waiting, Fianna points her finger back towards where the council sat and sends a Message to each in turn. "Promises were made. We are out front awaiting the promised payment to be fulfilled..."
There is no immediate response. You can hear raised voices within.
A well-dressed man appears from the side of the building. He is tall, lean, tan, with short silver hair. You recognize him a man who sat in the very thin audience at your last Council meeting.
"Good evening," he says, formally. "Thieves and corrupt bureaucrats, most of them," he continues, glancing at the top level of the Council Hall where voices continue unabated. "I can't say I disapprove of your tactics. Let me introduce myself: I am Wavechaser, servant of the Solmor family. Make I help you mitigate this situation?"
”Wavechaser, your helpfulness will be remembered. We -“ Molo winces dramatically and turns to gesture at everyone in the party. “We were promised payment of 900 gold coins. Having risked life and limb - paying with said limb- we were insulted and appear to still be unpaid. It’s enough to make a fella’ sympathize with the lizardfolk who may be looking to ransack the town!” Another limp, this time with a very pathetic grimace and a whining sound. “We just want to be properly compensated, and if the work has dried up for us after, then we’ll move on to some other kind of work, but please... PLEASE! Help us poor simple folks to find a bit of just reward.”
That cove and the job does not sound too bad me thinks. I'd be up for that. But who is this fella and what will he offer us? Maybe fate is turning to reward us for standing up to the council.
Fianna turns to the newcomer, her eyes flames rising out of her sockets. “Sir Wavechaser, I would suggest the mitigation to be done needs be by those inside...” Fianna begins.
With Thaumaturgy’s aid, Fianna’s voice begins to boom three times as loud as normal so that all around could not help but hear her words. “The council has made financial promises to us, then insulted us and then drove us out in attempt to back out of their debts. They can pay us and apologize and all is forgiven. They can pay us and not apologize and we shall take our earnings and move on... or they can refuse to pay us and buy enemies far worse than they have ever imagined...”
As she uttered the final words (threat? No, promise) Fianna punctuated it with thunder from above, a shaking of the ground beneath their feet and all unlocked doors and windows within range suddenly slamming open! ((She is standing pretty much outside the front door of the council...)
Fianna then stands her ground, visibly waiting impatiently, the ground around her continuously having tremors with each tap of her foot...
((umm, maybe I’m going to turn out to be the Big Bad of this storyline?))
Katernin looks pretty fed up by Fianna's attitude. And, probably for the first time in her life, she grabs Fianna by the back of her shirt and drags her out of the building. "If you say one more word," she threatens to any protests. "Elhonna teaches peace, but that does not mean mine cant run thin."
Fianna turns around in a blur, a look of pure... malice upon her face. Seeing Katernin before her, however, Fianna takes a moment and regains her self control. She allows her teammate to pull her away. For now.
After she gets a good ways away she stops and looks at her. "You being rude," she starts before stopping. "However justified you feel in reacting the way you did, yelling, being rude, and threatening them isnt going to make them any more willing to apologize or pay us. And no, I'm not going to make you apologize," she says before Fianna can imply that. "You and I are going to take a walk, and we're going to try and understand eachother. Cause right now it's clear you have an issue with most authority figures in this town and I'm not entierly sure why."
Wavechaser follows. "Relax, relax," he implores, politely. "Let me handle this. Go back to your tavern and rest. I'll deliver your payment, in full. Just be patient. The sooner you leave, the easier this will be." He nods, his hands clasped behind his back. "Trust me. You can thank me later."
A few flakes of snow blow by in the cold, sour-smelling evening breeze off the ocean.
Kelnan slaps Fianna on the back. "It's not often people manage to both impress and frighten me in one go. You people always do have a flair for the dramatic. Let's not endanger our paycheck though."
Fianna snorts. "Make me apologize?" she asks, actually amused. "Ridiculous, on so many levels."
"You wish to deal with the authority figures, you wish to set the direction for the group, have at it. I promise you, I will support you far more than you ever did me," Fianna says, starting to loose her anger but turning and refusing to face Katernin. "I will not be lectured by you though, and I do not need you trying to understand me."
And with that, Fianna will stalk off to her room unwilling to interact more this day.
Katernin watches her walk away, before leaving herself, heading for her own small shrine. Taking the box with her, even though she wasn't sure the knife she promised to help find was in there.
Unless you have further business, the party retires for the night – Katernin at her shrine, the rest at the Snapping Line. Dain and Molo found the tavern quiet; fishing has not been good lately, and this pub's business clearly relies heavily on waterfront patrons. Most of you got poor sleep last night, so you each get a much-needed long rest.
The morning dawns cold and overcast; the wind has abated. A dusting of snow fills the streets. The ocean is dark and grim.
You find Wavechaser waiting patiently for you in the empty morning tavern, looking out of place in his dapper outfit, sipping tea. "Good morning," he says. "I have something for you."
Dain moves to his seat, feeling more refreshed than he has been in a long time. He looks about and hopes for a hearty breakfast washed down with some ale.
"Mornin' sir," he greets Wavechaser. "Looks like I'm first up today. I be guessing we might as well wait for the others before we talk."
Before actually sleeping for the evening Fianna performed the ritual to re-summon her familiar, changing FinFin from a glorious pseudodragon and into a rather ordinary octopus. Once the ritual is completed she bundles them up, rushes outside, and puts them into the water. While Fianna sleep her familiar will be searching for this wreckage and exploring it... When Fianna comes out of her room and looking for a meal she gives an even “Morning,” to Dain and Molo. She glances at Wavechaser but doesn’t really even acknowledge him.
She digs into her food with gusto despite it not being the most appetizing breakfast she’s ever seen. She spends some time hunched over her plate silently checking in on OctoFin and seeing if they’ve had any luck...
(Fianna is headed nowhere yet...)
