When you walk back to the original path the original path contains a curious hallway.
The ceiling consists of square stone panels about ten feet on each side. Rusty iron frames surround each panel. The panels are suspended about several inches from one another and the wall to either side. They form a row overhead that continues down the passage.
"Not sure I want to try this way if we can't see what sort of item activates that trap..." Jhazaal informs the others. "Might be better to take out those rats, or I can talk to them and see if they will just let us pass without fighting..."
”Aye, I be not liking the looks of those stone in the ceiling. Let’s double back to the rats and check what’s left of those corpses.”
Si removes a strip of cloth and ties a cover for his face. “The stench be rancid for certain. I don’t want to inhale the bloody stuff. A’right, let’s go.”
Seeing he got all the information he could from the elder Talvian decides that the only way he was going to get any more answers would be to investigate the cavern himself. Talvian goes to the rope the others used to descend into the pit, pulls a torch from his pack, and makes his way carefully down. Once at the bottom Talvian will use Prestidigitation to light the torch then follow the mass of footprints to the stone doors and investigate the cloaks and waterskin.
Si answers Jhazaal, “Nay, but I’ll likely not forget it now. This is a cruel sort ofplace. What say we continue along the passage?” Si starts heading to the other end of the chamber towards the exiting corridor.
"I agree. Let's back track and follow the original tunnel."
Si turns to head back to the original route, trying to will the stench out of his nostrils.

Opps, wrong thread .
Still following the others, Jhazaal would consider checking the bodies, but instead follow after the others back to the main tunnel.
"What do you make of that..." He asks, nodding to the ceiling.
Perception: 23
He takes a closer look at the ceiling himself.
DragonDenn
You cannot fully deduce what the ceilings is. But you see that the tiles are rigged with some sort of contraption. Perhaps a trap.
Jedavii:
"My guess is some mechanism on the floor that drops the panels on you."
He attempts to look for it.

As you four head back it seems the rats have all retreated to their crevices and there’s barely anything left of the bodies except for bones.

Jhazaal looks over the remains to see if he can tell anything about them still.

Meanwhile, Si scouts out the room looking for exits, concealed or otherwise, and anything else that may be of interest on the walls or ceiling,

The waterskin is half full but have nothing of interest. But the cloaks on the other hand, are stained with drops of blood near the bottom.

The bones have a strange symbol marked into the skull. A triangle with a line the goes up half way through the triangle from the bottom.
The only exits are the two ones out in the open.
"Have you seen this symbol before?" Jhazaal asks the others, pointing it out.
Si answers Jhazaal, “Nay, but I’ll likely not forget it now. This is a cruel sort of place. What say we continue along the passage?” Si starts heading to the other end of the chamber towards the exiting corridor.

The tunnel opens into a square room. In the center of it, a black rock about a foot across hovers three feet from the floor.
Jedavii:
"Curious. Looks magical; might even be the cause of all the sinkholes."
He examines it for runes, glyphs, etc. Arcana: 7
"Can any of you guys do that thingy where you see magic?"
DeltaEdge27
There does not appear to be any sort of magic symbols effecting the rock.
