Si turns to the assembled team in the room and asks, "It appears the stone itself is not magical, but something magical is suspending it in place. Do any of you have magic means with which to grasp the stone without physically touching it? If not, I will handle it myself. I bet this has something to do with that sinkhole."
"I do not see how the stone there is going to help us find the woman..." Jhazaal reminds the others. "Please finish so we can continue and make sure she is unharmed..."
Talvian adds the waterskin to his pack, then when the men approach he will act as non-threatening as possible.
"Hail friends I mean no harm I only wish to gain an understanding as to what has transpired here. A woman fell down here, some men followed to give aid, and now neither group has been seen. All I have found were two bloodstained cloaks so either or both groups may have run afoul of something. Are you here to offer aid?"
Even without good insight. You can tell these people are angered. “We are the bringers of woe! And if you value your life, you’ll leave and tell no one.” One of the men snapped back as he aims a crossbow at your head.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((OOC: I think I'm going to have to stop trying to use Insight cause it does not seems to work out for me))
Not seeing much of a way out Talvian will try to use his Actor feat to adopt a villainous aura coldly staring at the man with the crossbow aimed at him.
"It's about time you lot showed up! You were so slow to act I had to come down to take care of your mess! Letting those three run amok did you at least take care of the woman!?"
This fifty-foot square chamber is hewn out of rock. The floor is rough but flat, the walls show chisel marks of the original builders. The ceiling is about ten feet high. Identical stone doors with iron pill ring handles stand from the north, east and west walls. In the center of the room stands a life sized and life like statue of a dwarf warrior wearing a chain skirt, helm, and big boots. He carries a shield on his left arm and a battle axe in his right hand. The statue has clearly been broken into, roughly, the head and upper torso, lower torso, and legs. These pieces have been reassembled and held together and upright in a stout wooden frame. A dagger along with several coins and gems lie on the floor in front of the statue, surrounded by a ring of fine gravel. Seven humans in leather armor walk through a door to the left of you. One clearly different from the others, though. The other six have the same symbol ingrained in their leather as the skulls had. One of them says “We are the bringers of woe. We have come to reward your curiosity.”

"That's not my sort of magic." Jhazaal says, moving to inspect any other exit from the room.

Another exit leads south. But it turns before the the tunnel ends so you can’t see the end.
"You guys want to study that stone some more or do we want to check out this next passage?" He asks the others.
Si walks over to the stone.
"Give me about 10 minutes. Let me check this out."

After the ten minutes. You see a magical aura coming from not the rock, but below it. The school of magic is transmutation.

Jedavii gestures to his mage hand, which gives a thumbs up.
"I've got it! Stand back, just in case!" he grins. Making sure everyone is clear, he uses his mage hand to lift it up.

"Hmmm. Well then. No guts, no glory."
Si, with an odd frown on his face, strides over and collects the stone in his own hands.

Deception 15
(Does Jedavii hear the bringers of woe from back down the passage?)
"Suppose we'll keep the stone, just in case. Next passage!"
LostLeonin
The man with the crossbow quickly puts it down and opens the door. He says “Will you be coming to exterminate these pests.”
DeltaEdge27
You can hear indiscernible talking. Also I’m guessing everyone near him fallows him down the passage?
(I think we were waiting to see what happened with the stone...)
Jhazaal would follow down the passage once the others were done with the stone.
"Of course, someone must make sure you make no other mistakes."
Talvian hands his torch to one of the other men then draws and loads his own crossbow.
"Lead the way."
(Can I have my crossbow already infused with Repeating Shot or will I have to wait until we do a long rest to do that?)
