4 completely misses as Vigil dodges the attack and the creature hisses at him. People are starting to peek out of their windows at the commotion... Watching the fight unfold.
Big Boi takes stock of the situation... It really isn't looking good. Even if only one of them has been injured, they just aren't keeping *hold* of the group. It wasn't good enough, they weren't good enough. It lets out a screech, a loud ear-piercing screech... and it proceeds to burrow into the ground and escape.
Reposting initative order so it is on this page. Big Boi is no longer in initiative due to escaping straight down. Zack, it is your turn. The map is the same, just without Big Boi.

Zack sees Grell burst forth from inside one of the creatures he's facing. Once again, fire wraps around his hand as he casts a fire bolt at the first creature, trying to take it down and give Grell some breathing room on the roof.

Fire Bolt Attack: 19 Damage: 10
One screeches as it is singed to death and collapses... its skin blackened by the flames, but still relatively intact.

Kalgren saw Grell swallowed up by the creature. So that's how they do it. He thought right before the creature seemed to be getting punched from the inside and regurgitate a golden mess of scales and spit. That was immediately followed up by the other creature next to Grell suddenly getting enveloped into flames and dropping dead. He's got a lid on things.
Kalgren surveyed the area. The big one was gone, burrowed back into the dirt where it popped out of. Both Grell and Vigil were engaged with a creature each. That just left the one still being confused by his illusionary halfling. He decided to take a potshot at it with his crossbow. They seemed to drop with a single hit so Kalgren hoped a clean shot would be enough.
He moved back a couple of feet as he fished out a bolt for his next attack. 'Nice shot.' Kalgren said to Zack, 'Where'd you learn that?'
Action: attack creature 3 Attack: 14 Damage: 9 Move: 15 feet/3 squares to the left to be on the same column as Zack.

Vigil sees the Big Boi burrow underground to escape. Huh...smart enough to know when to escape...he thinks to himself. He then refocuses his attention on the creature in front of him, having just dodged one of its attack. Taking out his scimitar from its sheat with his one free hand, he goes for a swipe in retaliation.
Four parries the scimitar strike with its hardened talon and hisses at Vigil.
Three starts to tunnel its escape from Kalgren, Disengaging from him to avoid an attack of opportunity, as does Two who leaps from the roof and starts digging to escape as well after Disengaging from Grell.
Four is now the only one left on the field. Grell, you're up.

With the creature next to him bursting into flames, and the other creatures all scurrying away, Grell turns to the only one remaining. His rage still burning hot inside, Grell runs to the edge of the house and leaps off, maul held overhead in both hands, bringing it down hard in a downward arc as he lands.
Fall Damage: 1 (though still resisted, so technically only 2 damage)
Four screeches at Grell as the dragonborn lands next to it before Disengaging and burrowing away. The battle is over, with minimal damage. It seems fairly obvious to everyone who isn't the raging barbarian that this party was not expecting, nor meant, to fight. It was meant to acquire.
But was it the big one that was leading it, or is it merely the field commander? For what purpose were they trying to engulf you?

Getting to his feet after the fall, Grell looks about for a moment before realising that none of the creatures remain. The big Dragonborn lowers his maul, releasing the heavy end and letting it thump into the ground with a loud thud, an equally loud sigh escaping from him as he calms the bubbling rage within. He feels what might be a cracked rib with his empty hand, but the majority of the damage he had sustained was more mental.
Gaining some semblance of focus, Grell turns to the others.
"Looks like they're all gone? At least they did not take anyone..." he grumbles as he throws his maul over his shoulder and onto his back.
Vigil took the time to stow his weapons away and to readjust his armor. He looked around to his if the melee had attracted any attention. Well...If we didn't want the guard to know about our investigation, that plan definitely went out the window, he thought to himself. His attention was then caught by the corpse of one of the creature. They might not have had much success fighting the damn things, but at least now they could learn a thing or two from those remains.
"We should grab that thing's remains before we leave. We might not know what their plan is yet, but we could learn what they are capable of." Vigil commented. "Should probably make it quick before the whole village comes to see what's up."
Zack nods, "Agreed. We should take the corpse and leave these people to rest for the night. Kalgren, you've already made acquaintance with them? Maybe we should let them know that the trouble has passed for the time being." He rubs his hands together as he looks at the corpse though, "I am interested to learn more about this creature though. Curious things."
'Right.'Kalgren nodded. 'Best not to let the fear linger.' He dispelled his illusion as there was no more use for it. It had served him rather well and Kalgren took note to experiment with it later when he would have some free time.
He walked back up to the door and knocked. 'Mister Torbin?' He yelled, realising that if the family followed his advice, they would be hiding in the cellar. 'The danger has passed, you can come out now.'
Kalgren suddenly became keenly aware that he looked like a mess, whatnot with the fight and the incident with the guards earlier. He used the time before Torbin would open the door to frantically scrape off any dirt from his clothing and to fix his shirt a bit to at least be somewhat presentable.
The cellar door opens and Torbin and his family emerge... His wife and his son are shaking gently, but Torbin nods appreciatively. "...Thank ya, lad. I 'onestly appreciate what you've done." He says, hugging his son gently. "...Heard quite the commotion... What in the hells was that?"
Of course, with all the screeching from the monsters, there was going to be a response from guards as a group of five humans can be seen running towards the party, weapons drawn. They're still a bit a ways away, so the party has time to decide on what they are going to do.
