As Zack climbs down into the building, he looks over the books to see if the script matches those of the old goliath tales of the town that he has begun reading already. "If you're interested in what these books say, I can take some time to cast a spell to comprehend them," he says to the others.
It is not the same script as the goliath tales.

"Hmm, perhaps I might try and see what these books are about." Zack sets himself up for the evening and goes about ritually casting comprehend languages and picks out a book to read for the next hour.
Vigil sees Zack making himself comfortable and procedes to do the same. He finds a corner to sit down and relax, before looking over to Kalgren.
‘’Think you might want to sit down and rest up. You look like a gust of wind would blow you away. We’ll pick back up tomorrow when we’re all feelin’ better. I’ll take first watch.’’

'Yeah, that sounds good.' replied Kalgren. Using his backpack and heavy cloak, he made himself a comfortable spot as best he could from where he could observe most of the area. Though the weariness and sustained wounds soon made him alternate between moments of awakeness and short catnaps.
Oriander joins Zack inside the study, but settled at the desk to instead rest himself, seeing as he was barely standing as well.
Many of the tomes are just case studies on various spells. Very interesting to the wizard, but nothing very practical other than, most of these comments have been known for centuries (if the wizard academies are anything to go by), so why are these books written as if they are new? However, one of the many books he pours through, he does manage to find a spell book! A wizard's spellbook, though he does not recognize the notation or language, it is clearly magical... And his wizard training, at first glance, makes him realize it has plenty of 2nd level spells, and some 1st level spells!
(I will be sending your spells here that *hopefully* you will have the gold to copy them soon...)
After an hour: the group seems to have gotten away unscathed, nothing as of yet seems to be coming after them.

Zack closes up the spell book and looks to the others as he puts the book into his pack. "How are you feeling after a rest? Some interesting reading, though nothing I can say will help us dreadfully just yet. I've got a few spells to copy, though will need some supplies in order to do so," he sighs. "They will have to wait for the time being. Do we want to continue?"
Kalgren snapped back to reality from his catnap. The stone was cold, his body ached and his limbs were heavy but overall he felt like he was in a better shape than before he laid down.
'Moving on sounds good.' He replied as he packed everything back into his backpack. 'Only question is: where to?'
He looked around the area for any sign of an exit other than the one they came through.
"I say we head back to the crossroad from earlier.", proposed Vigil as he looked up to the hatch on the ceiling. Too high for him, but perhaps with the help of the half-giant, he could reach it. "Hey Oriander! How about a little boost?", as he pointed upward.
Oriander stretches and cracks his various joints before rising and giving Vigil the boost he requests, fingers interlaced for the tief to step in his hands to get boosted up.

"Much obliged", says the tiefling as he place his foot in the palm of the half-giant’s hands. As he gets thrusted upward to the hatch, Vigil attempts to climb out.
"Do you mind?" Zack says to Oriander after he has watched Vigil climb out of the hole, and with Oriander's help, will do the same. He then lies down flat on the roof and hangs down into the hole to offer some help, as minor as it may be, to whoever comes up next.
Zack gets up onto the roof without any problems. Oriander sets himself up to help Kalgren get onto the roof as well.
Vigil and Zack both are able to see faint lights flickering through some of the other buildings. They are moving relatively organically, as if humanoid.

Kalgren became painfully aware of his own noodle arms when he tried to lift himself up onto the roof but needed both Oriander's and Zack aid to properly get there. Joining the others on top, he reached back through the hole to help Oriander clamber up. He gave a quick sideglance when the others pointed out the faint lights.
Vigil signals to the others to stay low and make no noise. "There is some light over there. Seems we aren’t as alone as we thought in these caverns.", he whispered.
He thought for a moment that it might be the creatures skulking around. But then he remembers that they seem afraid of fire, which makes that hypothesis void. Maybe someone who knows about these things. If so, Vigil might have a few words for them.
Zack nods, "Any idea who might be down here, Oriander?" he whispers to their guide as he points to the lights. He then looks to the others, "Do we want to stay on this perch, or shall we get down to have a better look?"

"The spirits of those who failed their tests here within Mother Mouth, or perhaps the spirits of the builders of these structures?" Oriander offers, uncertain. Unafraid, but uncertain.
The lights shuffle about, and for a brief moment, it looks to be a humanoid of light passing the window before fading out of sight. Aside from the glow, of course.

"They look similar to will-o-the-wisps, but there's something different about them. I can't quite put my finger on it though," Zack says quietly to the others. "Should we take a closer look?"
