Oriander gives a slow nod and follows the group on the left then.
The tunnel slowly gets steeper the deeper you go, but eventually, you come to a huge chamber... And Oriander was not kidding when he said ruins would be down here.
Large stone structures, of a pale blue stone, dominate the chamber. High up, you can see windows of glass, but down below, there are only doors, if that. Seemingly the main entrances to these buildings are about 40 feet up... Were there not gaping holes in the walls left from some unknown damage.
Oriander stares up at it all, and trembles gently. "...It's beautiful. But who built this? And why is it... down here?"

Kalgren noticeably let out a soft whistle at the sight of of the ruins. They certainly were impressive to say the least. Not to mention that he did not expect to find anything below the earth bigger than the cave they had just left behind. He could see why Oriander would hold the mountain range in such high esteem if this was were the legends and imagery came from.
He glanced at their guide proper. Oriander was asking the right questions. Who built this place? And why here? It must have taken ages to carve out stone chambers of this magnitude, let alone putting windows forty feet up. It would have been near impossible to do, almost supernaturally so.
But then again, he recalled, Drefeld was a town founded by humans and goliaths.
'Oriander,' Kalgren addressed their guide, 'What do you know of your ancestors? The, ah, giant ones I mean.'
"That they worked with the bedrock and stone of the earth, and formed a mighty empire that fell to hubris and dragonfire." He looks up at the spires. "I do not think this is of giant make, however. But, it does seem like we can be safe here to rest for now."

"Interesting," Zack says, placing a hand on one of the pillars and looking up at the construction, "Well, whoever made it, the look to be skilled artisans. If it wasn't the giants that made this, I wonder who then?"
Vigil scans the room, looking for a place out of sight that would allow them to rest without being disturbed.
Investigation: 21
One of the smaller buildings looks to be intact fully. You don't see an entrance however... Perhaps on the roof? The building is about 30 foot tall, and it looks like it can be scaled at least somewhat easily.

‘’This one looks still sturdy enough.’’, the tiefling says pointing at the building. ‘’Could resume the conversation once we’re out of sight. I’ll go check out if there’s an entrance on the roof.’’
He then produces his climbing equipment from his backpack.

'Really?'Kalgren sounded surprised. 'Because forty feet high stone structures just screams Giant to me but I'll admit: I'm no expert and architecture isn't my strong suit.' Kalgren racked his brain trying to remember or envision any other race that would have a need for creating these kind of structures. Aside from dwarves, he came up short. And it were not dwarves or else they would have already spotten other evidence of dwarven presence.
He watched Vigil take out his climbing gear in an effort to scale one of the smaller buildings. 'Good luck.' said Kalgren, giving a thumbs up.

Vigil is able to climb without issue the first little bit due to damage around the base allowing for plenty of handholds. Thanks to your climbing gear, however, you are able to scale the rest of the building without issue.

On the roof is a hatch door to enter the building proper, and it is quite clear that for the most part... it's very quiet. The large cavern is mostly empty, aside from the ruins, though at least normal cave life can be seen in the motion of bats up above and some small bugs.

Vigil leaves the rope dangling to allow the others to climb on up. He tries to motion at them to join him on the roof. Afterwards, he will attempt to delicately open the hatch door, so as to make as little noise as possible.
Kalgren gave the rope Vigil tossed back a couple of tugs. After making sure it was sufficiently secure, he too began his ascend up the stone structure.
Inside is pitch black... or it would be, if Vigil did not have darkvision. He can see it's basically a physical version of Galder's Tower. The room below the hatch is a little study room, with bookshelves and a desk, parchment everywhere... Dry for certain, but also clearly old.
Zack keeping watch on the roof, will not see anything unusual at this time. It's... pretty much just the cave, ruins abound.

A thick layer of dust puffs up around Vigil as he lands inside the room. Yeah, this place has been abandoned for ages. Whether that is centuries or not, it doesn't particularly matter.
The books inside seem to be written in an odd language... One not immediately recognized by Vigil.

As Zack climbs down into the building, he looks over the books to see if the script matches those of the old goliath tales of the town that he has begun reading already. "If you're interested in what these books say, I can take some time to cast a spell to comprehend them," he says to the others.

"Doesn’t seem like anyone’s been here in centuries", says Vigil flatly. He then hops down the hatch into the study room.
Zack shrugs, "That's not a bad thing though, right? We're not just dropping in on someone in that case."
