Kerric:
While the others are busy negotiating and/or gambling, Kerric moves over to Ebele and says, "I have seen a crest repeated here many times in signage and on clothing. It is a black winged serpent on a circular field, diving down with mouth open wide as if to swallow the small dot just below the field. Have you heard of anything like this in your travels?"

Ebele was plenty entertained with Hawke providing her with a play by play of the events. It was a change of pace for them after all of the traveling they've done. She was happy to listen to the others enjoy a good game of chance and appreciated him running her through it all.
Upon Kerric's approach, Ebele would smile and listen attentively. After he'd describe it to her, she'd tilt her head back a little bit as she'd move her hand in the air in front of her, as if trying to draw it along in her minds eye. Dragon diving down to swallow a dot... "Would that not be the Zhentarim?" The monk would pat her nose in thought. "I'm pretty sure it's a shadow network."
"How about double the wager?" The guard would push for a whole 2g.

T'chal'fronack'zcinicker bows out of the gambling after his first attempt, though keeps tabs on the guards thoughts to make sure they don't cheat them. He otherwise sits and waits for the games to be done. For him, 42 gold to enter, covering the Inn and the stable, plus earning him some 'good will' for the folks that run this place is a fair value. He's sure he'll have an opportunity to tilt the tables in his favor in the future. Let them have their win and get overconfident.

The gates were sealed and the market stalls closed for the night. To the north was the largest inn, The Old Bargewright. It looked as though it was recently rebuilt and stands as a substantial stone structure with thick walls. The streets were quiet and dingy and the sun has set.
Moving towards the inn with the others, Kerric says, "As I was mentioning before we had to pay the usurious entry fee, let's get the wagon and horse settled, then we can see to our own needs. Keep your wits about you--I don't trust these Zhentarim."

T'chal'fronack'zcinicker practically dance walks down the dingy street, "Ahhh, I truly love places such as this. Wonderous nests of deceit and opportunity...a place of back alley deals, murderous cut throats, and hard earned coin for me to pry away from their hapless owners." Turning in a conspiratorial tone to Kerric he says, "Trust me, any fee you pay the folk who watch the gates at places such as this are worth ten times their value. They have official standing and much to lose, and in promising the safety of our wagon and goods we have tip top security. Besides, outright theft is not the way of these backwater places. Too few people, not enough places to hide." He turns to the man who is escorting them, "So, you mentioned something about taking care of the wagon and perhaps even sorting out our evening at the Inn? As the man at the gates you much see pretty much everything going on around here. Have you seen any news or rumors of a dwarven delegation from Miribar?"

When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.

Zhentarim
This shadow network seeks to expand its influence and power base throughout Faerûn. Its members coerce, persuade, or buy their way into every major area of influence. Rogues and warlocks fill the Zhentarim’s ranks, but the faction recruits any who can conduct its business without too many moral reservations. Zhentarim operatives might be found in any settlement. The organization also has a vested interest in maintaining the prosperity of Yartar.
Zhentarim and Bargewright Inn
Bargewright Inn fell under Zhentarim influence a few years ago. Any member or ally of that faction can find a discreet welcome (and few or low fees) within its walls. The Zhentarim spy on everyone, even each other (or as one merchant put it, “especially each other”). Bargewright Inn is ruled by a plutocracy of business owners, most of whom are in the pockets of the Zhentarim. The unofficial leader is a cold-eyed "Senior Sword". Female.
Meanwhile, Reghys was drawing a bit of a blank, like a little blurb of information was on the tip of their tongue, but they'd lose it. That nap must have their brain in a bit of a groggy fog at the moment.
