So you're going to be running with the horses until you get too tired, then riding? Then I will need everyone to give me a constitution check to see how long you hold out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alkyn nods at Six, "I'm just making this up as I go along...do you know anything about horses?.
He smiles sheepishly, "I know they need a long rest after a big race...at least the racing horses do...but that may just be to get the herbs and magic out of their system..."
Tristan is also relieved to be riding, but he doesn't show it. "What is the plan once we reach our destination, or collapse? We can't just stop and let them catch us"

“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
You run with the horses for an hour or so, and they seem relieved to get a break. After that time, you hear shrieks of anger echoing behind you. There are some sounds of blows, then you catch sight as the road zig-zags back of the pack tearing apart the two fallen hyenas. The grisly display is enough to have you mounted up and galloping with no further delay.
The road continues to climb into the foothills as the afternoon wears on towards evening, until eventually you see the log palisade walls of the mountain town in the distance. Talonstadt is a small town, situated near a fast flowing river and pine forest with it’s back to the Ashkeeper peaks. You think you are perhaps an hour away.
(Mobile) You finally make it to the gates as the sun touches the western horizon. There are a couple of Dragonborn guards wearing old breastplates and helmets in the process of closing the gate for the night as your horses stagger up. The younger one looks up at you inquiringly as you approach.
Sinsil will stop her horse. "On Assembly business looking for a lost wizard. We are currently harried by a pack of Gnolls and seek immediate sequester behind your gates."
Sinsil holds herself with as much regal bearing as possible while speaking.
The older guard peers at you all suspiciously, but then grunts and shoulders open the gate. "Best get in quick then, and we'll shut the gate behind you. Altuz, lad, go ring the bell. If it's a full blown Gnoll pack, we'll need everyone hopping." The younger dragonborn dashes away through the gate in the direction of a stout watchtower. The other guard scratches the red scales under his chin as you lead your horses into the town. "Name's Toberion. How many gnolls you bring us then?" He asks with a hint of humour. "Most folks come with wool or spices or somethin'. Well, it'll give the recruits something to miss instead of straw dummies. Give us hand with that bar, will ya?".

"I am not sure this is a great idea," Six comments, though he does feel for the horses. "We will lose what lead we do have."

"Then lets ride...I'm not really up for much more running anyway!"
" Buncha softies.", Ashanti grins as she hops back on the horse.
Sinsil has been riding the whole time, whether on a horse or on someone's back.
Six gets back up on his horse and leans down to pat her neck. "Let's go, girl," he murmurs to her, relieved not to be trying to run anymore.

"We warn the guard if there is one. If not we rouse a quick militia and hope we survive an onslaught."

" Please.", said Ashanti looking over her shoulder.
Alkyn glances back the way they came, "If they are following they won't be far behind, and you'll probably want us inside helping with the defence."

Ashanti began following the elders instructions immediately.
Sinsil moves inside. "Many, we took it the Hyena front runners, but they outnumbered us at least 2 to 1"
