Alkyn has spent a few nights either running from constant pursuit, or pursuing others, but as much as he is curious about his new companions, he is also exhausted.
He gives a mischievous grin to Tristan, then turns to Horass. "Master Horass, I will take you up on the offer tomorrow, but tonight....well...tonight, the flesh is weak."
"I hate to admit it, but I am not as young as I once was. And I was never made of the stern stuff that enlivens you!"
With that he salutes to the old warrior, and shuffles off to one of the bunks.
As soon as Horass starts to spread obvious false information about him Tristan pulls his hat over his eyes. No-one in the party would believe these lies. He hopes.

“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Horass regales you with probably exaggerated tales as you rest. The old dragonborn is also handing out crossbows to the volunteer militia that stop in, offering a few words of advice and encouragement to each before they set off to guard the walls. The night deepens and eventually Horass trails off, settling back into his doze. At some point around midnight, you are all rudely awakened by the bell ringing out once again, and the sound of shouts from the walls to the south of you.
Horass is up almost instantly, sword half-drawn. "Looks like trouble's found us! Get a move on!"
Sinsil springs into action that defies her normal stuffy attitude. She grabs her arcane focus and pack and heads immediately to the walls, casting mage armor on the way. (I'm assuming I can take arcane recovery and a short rest)
You head south, following the wall. You pass a finely constructed building with several empire crown’s guard standing at attention outside, though they make no move to join you.
“They’ll have been ordered to protect empire property.” Grumbles Horass. “The high and mighty don’t want us to get too comfortable here.” He starts to slow down, moving stiffly. “Damn knee! Go on ahead you lot, I’ll be right behind you.”
As you run on you see the orange glow of flames ahead. On the corner, you see two of the recruits crouching behind a cart, reloading their crossbows. One of them pops up, but an arrow hisses past and shatters on the wall behind him, forcing him back down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alkyn instictively seeks cover as well, then tries to use the shadows and whatever cover he found to assess the scene, and perhaps move to a location where he might get a clear line of sight.
Stealth: 21
Are the arrows coming from inside the wall, or outside? Can we see who/what where? Perception: 19 (passive 16).
Sinsil will begin periodically making minor illusions of soldiers at the wall. Some ducking arrows, some getting hit and screaming. Just to waste enemy ammunition and insight some confusion.
Peering around the corner, you take stock of the situation. The houses closest to the wall seem to be ablaze, as are parts of the town wall. Three gnolls have scaled the walls and are driving back the militia fighters with arrows, while several more are attempting to climb over. The closest ones are about 90 feet away from you, with a couple of small houses on each side of the street. The two militia recruits are crouched behind a cart about 15 ft from you, and there are steps and cellar entrances providing a small amount of cover.
If Alkyn can keep in stealth and move to within 80', then he will shoot at one of the gnolls then move back to cover and try to blend with the shadows, moving to a new location.
(Sorry about the gap in posting guys, work has been crazy at the moment).
Sinsil scurries over to the two soldiers behind the cart, managing to avoid the flying arrows. Images of shouting soldiers appear above the edge, attracting another volley of arrows.
Using this distraction, Alkyn and Ashanti step out and release their own arrows. Alkyn catches the lead gnoll in the belly, doubling it over, while Ashanti's second arrow slams into the second one's shoulder.
The gnolls begin to howl with fury as your arrows land, as three more manage to clear the top of the wall and drop down to join their comrades. The two of you duck back into cover, as they prepare to charge.
(Alkyn will need to make me a stealth check to hide)
Sinsil will finish her ritual and then lie down clutching her spell book to her chest and fall instantly into a practiced meditative sleep.

Ashanti is definitely fast asleep against the wall near Sinsil, she's certainly not listening in....

Tristan is up nearly instantly "Damn guards! I told them this would happen" He quickly checks his revolver, waiting for the others to wake.

Ashanti jumps up with a grin, " Ok, time to earn our keep."
Alkyn grunts and rubs his eyes. "Really?!?" he asks, his tone aggrieved.
He slowly gets out of the bunk, looks blearily around the room in case there are spare arrows, then follows the others out.
