The strut was too tough. The Atropal focused on Asha for her insolence. It unleashed a terrible necrotic life draining beam. DC19 for half of 28 necrotic damaged.
Zyn used the distraction to her advantage. Faust got her attention - here! Here! She hustled over to the weakened strut and spun her chains, striking them as hard as she could. The atropal's death would surely incur Acerarak's wrath - which would mean the death of them all, but at least the Soulmonger might be destroyed before then.
"Come on! Come on!!"she cried, swinging hard, in a flurry of blows.
Each time she hit, flashes of celestial energy sparked upon the steel. The strut broke! She exhaled in surprise, and kicked at the other one, ignoring the pain of flesh and bone on metal. "COME ON!"
With a loud, terrible creaking noise, the Soulmonger, unbalanced and heavy due to one of the struts breaking, lop sides, breaks, and falls into the lava. In a massive explosion of souls and magic, the Soulmonger ruptures. The atropal's umbilical cord burns off the soulmonger due to the lava, and with nothing left to power it anymore, it withers and dies with a lack of a power source. Before you can catch your breath to celebrate, your worst nightmare appears on a platform above you all. A skeletal figure wrapped in moldering robes and clutching a skull-tipped staff appears on the south balcony. Hateful pinpricks of white light burn in its eye sockets, and a two-foot-diameter sphere of utter darkness floats in the air beside it.
"Meddling FOOLS!"he cries, "You have caused me a great setback! I shall slay you all and reap your souls!!"
