Owlstra eyes the gargoyles warily, readying up an attack if one of them comes to life.

Kitsune will likewise circle each statue, checking them out from all sides, looking for further clues as to what they might be (Perception: 10).

Yes, the statues' slots do appear like coin slots.

Quickly whipping out her coin bag, Kitsune will place a gold coin in one of the statue slots, and then stands back.

The gargoyles do not attack.

Kitsune ties one end of her rope to one of the gargoyles, and throws the remainder of the rope down into the dark shaft. Without saying a word, she beckons the rest of the team to follow her as she climbs down the rope to area 58.

Green smoke billows out from a bronze cauldron in the middle of a twenty-foot-high vaulted hall. Barely visible through the haze are three rocking chairs, several work benches heaped with haberdashery, a spinning wheel, and a rusty iron cage containing a prisoner. Galleries stand ten feet above the floor to either side of the room. Five wooden doors are set into the walls of the galleries, each carved with a geometric symbol: a triangle, a square, a pentagon, a hexagon, and an octagon.

Off in the distance before you vision becomes totally obscured are three hags, all delighted to see you.

"Come my pretties! Acererak has been expecting you! Behold the atropal’s apotheosis, when the eventual downfall of civilization will promise us an abundance of souls to harvest. BHAHAHAKakAHakkaKAKHhhHH!" they all giggle in unison.

Three tiny figures waddle toward you through the smoky haze: a straw doll with rusty pins sticking into its body, a faceless child molded from clay, and a stuffed monkey with the lower body of a unicycle. The straw doll says, “You need to run away! They will kill you!"

Owlstra tilts his head at the straw dolls words then looks to the others to see if they will heed to them. If they run, he will too, and pick up someone along the way to help them get out of there faster. If they decide to stay, he will fight along side them.
