Asha was thinking of tossing Kira in as a sacrifice, but Zyn gave her a comical glance to think a little harder on a better idea.

Zyn would spend most of her day outside Undercity. Undercity was a huge, well, undeground city where Zyn lived, but life beneath the earth was boring. Unlike her father, Zyn was not affected by the sunlight, and since her grandfather was human, went outside with him many times to either watch, explore, or train. 

It took a very long time for Zyn's father to earn respect from the surface dwellers, and Zyn loved and appreciated her parents so that she would not be susceptible to the typical distrust that was common for actual Drow in the underdark. 

Her grandfather was a farmer, and spent much of his time above ground. Much to her parents annoyance, Zyn had no interest in finance or trade. As the years rolled on, she trained and fought and learned everything she could from her grandfather. 

When the great earthquake happened, all of that changed. It was only because she was outside at the time that she lived. 

Zyn was graceful and in amazing shape with a lighthearted attitude. Even with the death of her family, she relied on the spirits and Ki to maintain the discipline she needed to get through a very tough time. Thankfully, for some reason, her dead grandfather still reached out to her. Truthfully, he didn't really "talk" to her in her head, it was more like, a presence, and feelings.

I think you better think of that froghemoth instead. Keep focused, this place is a source of great evil. Find the cubes, and enter the Tomb. You should also ask Orvex about the Nine Gods at some time. He knows more than he's letting on.

Asha looks at the path that Cherri drew in Discord general shape of the temple and realizes that they can just go around the pool and bypass the dangerous part entirely. "Let's just go around and take the cube that way. No need to worry about the Froghemoth then."

"How clever!" Zyn comments, you're not sure if it's sarcasm or not, but she's smiling nevertheless. "Hopefully, that beast won't attack us."

Because you're out in the open while you bypass the pool, the froghemoth can still see/detect you. You'll need to be a bit stealthy as you pass, but not too much.

Each of you need to pass a DC10 Stealth check.

The front door to the shrine is locked. Carved into the lintel above the locked gate is an inscription written in Old Omuan: “Kubazan urges us to tread without fear and to give back as much as we take.”

Zyn reads the words. "Without fear..and give back as much as we take. I wonder what that means?"

Kitsune intones "It means I take all the loot, and you guys have to empty your pockets?  That's what we get for passing up that mountain of gold offered to us by Valindra..."

OOC: The map above makes it appear that the building doesn't have a roof...is that true?  If no roof, do our characters realize there is no roof on the place?

"You know." Zyn says, wisdomly like. "There's more to life than just riches. Take, for example, the uh.." she thought for a second, touching her lip with her finger.

'Give back as much as we take' It sounds like some sort of reciprocity thing. Like take a penny, leave a penny or havin' to plant a tree when ya cut one down. But we haven't taken anything. Oi Orvex, you know anythin' about this Kubazan?"

Orvex lights up. "A little! The Nine Trickster Gods were primal spirits worshiped as gods in Omu after Ubtao left. At some point in the about a thousand years ago, they were all defeated by Acererak and buried in the Tomb of the Nine Gods. There is a rumor that says they have regained some of their former power, but this is heresay. Kubazan took the form of a massive froghemoth, so it's no wonder that, in it's shrine, one is here protecting it."

"Whoa, slow down, professor!" Zyn says, scribbling down notes furiously. Then, her pencil broke. "JhRg!" she grunted in frustration, then put her things away.

If a puff of black smoke, Kitsune disappears and teleports herself over to where the status is, in the middle of the pond.  She'll then check out all the nooks and crannies of the statue (Perception: 11).

As Kitsune disappeared, Zyn startled, as she had never done that before. "Hey, where did she g-"

Kitsune appeared at the statue.

The froghemoth explodes out of the water like an crocodile snapping at it's prey, and attacks you as you teleport to the statue in the middle of the pool. It's tentacles lash out, as does it's tongue.
