"Ah... yes. So. After the great success of, and delayed royalties from, my book, Volo's Guide to Monsters, I started writing another book, Volo's Guide to Spirits and Spectres. I found myself beset with writer's block, so I met with Floon for drinks at the Skewered Dragon two nights ago. We drank and gambled for a few hours, and then I left. That's... Well, that's the last I saw of Floon. I went to his abode to check on him yesterday morning, and it seemed he never made it home. His door was locked and nothing was broken. Nothing seemed out of the norm. Yesterday, I went to the Watch, who told me they would get to it, but that they were busy. I managed to meet with Dylan and asked him if he would be able to get job offers out for me, and, well, you know the rest!"

"Is it not possible that your friend, while gambling, met the ire of some of the city's less savory individuals like this one did," Dra'vos says motioning to Gil, "But instead of staying to pay his debts perhaps your friend left the city. Have you tried contacting him through arcane ways to inquire as to his current location?"
Gaèl gives Volothamp a scrutinizing look. He then adds a bombardment of questions to Dra'vos inquiry before the wizard can even attempt an answer. "Does your Sir Blagmaar have any known enemies? Anyone who could profit from his sudden disappearance. Did he perhaps provoke anyone before, or even during you? Would it be possible that, perhaps, the contents of your conversation were overheard and someone decided to seize the opportunity...meaning, was there anyone obviously suspicious around you at the night of his disappearance? Other than that, do you know of any hideouts or secret places Sir Blagmaar frequents in case he feels the need for secrecy? Or any other friends he might seek out for help? And well, what exactly does your friend even look like? Do you remember any specifics of his attire that might help identifying him? Gaèl is slightly leaning forward on his chair, awaiting the answers with an obviously awakened interest.
(I dont quite know what exactly to roll so i'll put down history just in case, but is there anything Gaèl would know about the establishment of the "Skewered Dragon", its reputation, and perhaps the customers frequenting it?)
Eekz sits up a little straight in his chair as he removes one of his Kukri's from its sheath and begins to twirl it around. He finds the steel glistening in the candlelight helps him focus on what Volothamp is asking of them.
"Did ya China go on the slash? Maybe 'e was mugged." he suggests to the table.
GIl nods at Gaèl's questions eager to get any additional information that they can. He glances over at Eekz then scanning the room once again before focusing back on Volo.
(That's a heck of an insight roll, Gil haha. Also, is there anything in particular in the room that you are looking for?)
Volo looks at Dra'vos for a few seconds, and then at the ceiling. He pulls a tiny comb out of a pocket and absently begins brushing out his beard and moustache. "Well... It IS possible he had debts outstanding that I knew not about. If you were able to find the information that he left town, then I would still pay the gold. I unfortunately do not have the means to contact him. Most of my magic is more... expedient than that. I make a living studying wildlife and dangerous things, so my capabilities are more useful for evading such things." Volo puts his comb away.
To Eekz, "It is possible he got mugged, but unfortunately I do not know."
Gaèl, your questions jar Volo, who blinks and says, "right, hold on. Let's see. I do not know of any major enemies of Floon, though he and I have gotten into minor scrapes throughout the city together. No one who would want to do lasting harm to the man, just to punch him in the face a bit. While his acquaintance is something I treasure, I can't say he is objectively worth much, financially. We didn't get in any scrapes, and we came out a little ahead on gambling that night. I don't know any of Floon's other friends, though I am sure he has them." Volo finishes the last of his ale and asks the passing barmaid, "Excuse me, Bonnie, could you please get me another?" Bonnie nods and smiles, and Volo continues, "Floon is a handsome human male in his early thirties. He's got wavy red-blond hair. When I saw him, he was dressed in clothes that were of the same quality as mine, that is to say, princely. If I recall, he was wearing a blue jacket with gold trim... hmmm, I really don't remember. Regardless, I think starting at the Skewered Dragon may be a good beginning for your investigation."
With that roll, you would know that the Skewered Dragon is bawdy, poorly lit tavern in the Dock Ward. You went in a few times, and you didn't see anything out of the ordinary. That said, there were rumors that the owner was a less legally minded business owner.
"Understandable," Dra'vos nods thinking back on his own studies of the arcane how they were focused on fire and ice magics. Dra'vos sits in thought as the rest of the questions get answered, there were still too many blanks that needed to be filled in. "It would seem the Skewered Dragon is our next stop if we wish to find answers."
Gaèl slowly nods as he listens to Volo working off his list of questions and begins running his fingers over an imaginary beard, a philosophical look on his face. "Right so!" , he says turning to Dra'vos. He picks up his drink and finishes it with a big gulp. "Then just one last question for our employer before we get to work...is there anything you feel should be mentioned? Anything else that we should know of?"
(yeah, no kidding, with that roll, I was half expecting 'Eekz seems smaller than the others at the table')
Gil speaks up at the mention of gambling, "I've heard that there's been a rash of cheating around town lately." He looks directly at Volo, "Would Sir Blagmaar be the sort that would unfairly tilt the odds in his own favor? That's the kind of thing that could get someone 'disappeared' real quick."
He waits for an answer then turns and nods at Dra'vos, "Either way, I agree, it sounds like the Skewerd Dragon should be our first stop."
"Skewered Dragon would make the most sense as an origin point for our investigation," Sylivar muses. Pulling out a barely wrinkled map of Waterdeep that must have recently been purchased, Sylivar hands it to Volothamp and says: "Would you mind marking where your friend's abode is? It would seem logical to attempt to retrace his path home for the night. Or, perhaps, he may have simply wound up in some shady lodging after being too inebriated to make his way back. Either way, it would be good to know."
(Eekz is a mysterious creature that none of you can figure out)
Volo thinks about it for a moment, "You know, he didn't cheat while we are together, though I can't say with certainty that he is above such antics. He is decently well off, not rich mind you, but he has no need to cheat to gain money. He gambles to entertain himself. Though I suppose he would also find it entertaining to get away with cheating. As far as where he lives, he owns a nice property in the North Ward. I'll mark it here on the map." (I'll eventually get you a good map of Waterdeep and I'll mark it)
Volo ponders, spinning a shard on the table while he thinks. After a moment, he says, "Well, no, I cannot think of anything else. So, unless you have any further questions for me, I'll go ahead and let you get started. I am trying to get a meeting with one of the higher-ups in the Watch, so I can impart the importance of this case on him. I take it that you all will be taking the job?" He pulls a coin purse out and starts counting out Dragons.

Eekz watches the coin clatter to the table with extreme interest, counting wrongly on his fingers. "Yeah, Eekz will take the bloomin' job. 'a much gold each?" Eekz inner goblin speaks to him, 'Lots of gold for food and shelter Eekz, don't mess this up!' The other inner Eekz answers, 'We don't want to mess with the city guard!
