Ms. Thornton doing the same on Endure's other side says, "Well, we do have some decent manpower now. Not sure of their training or loyalty for that matter, but give us a fortnight and we might be able to supply you a compliment to assist as you deem necessary. We'll work out costs to your group based on events. Checking on Big Al for example might be something we'd cover the cost for; it's justified."
Wolfsong gives a nod of thanks when Endure passes out the coins then takes a long draw from his cup, "Then we have much to do. I would like to go down to Axeholm to take care of the manticores, that is what first brought me to this area in the first place, but Cinnnaess aided us with the Red Brand manor so I would like to repay her by aided her in finding whatever it is she is looking for. After that we can take the long way around to Axeholm offering aid where it is needed then make our way back here to help Gundren find his cave so that we can hopefully arm up to take on the dragon."
Wolfsong turns to the rest of the party, "What are your thoughts? Any thing you think we should priorities?"
Robwin thanks Endure for the coins. His eyes light up as the food, and Elsa, arrive. When Elsa settles behind him, he stands and hugs her, then uses mage hand do drag a chair or stool over for her, even if she doesn’t quite fit around the table. He’ll sit, and half-turn to include her in the proceedings. And will hold her hand more often than not throughout the discussions.
He listens to all parties, as the tasks they must yet face are listed out before them. When Wolfsong summarises and considers priorities, Robwin says, “Wolfsong knows much about tactics and strategy. The priorities that he’s listed, make perfect sense to me”.
”Unless the representatives of the town here, feel that anything else warrants more urgent attention from us, I agree with Wolfsong’s plan”. He smiles at Wolfsong and looks politely around the table for other thoughts.
(( FYI: After whatever conversation is had, you find a long rest at the Orchard, Stonehill Inn, Miner's Exchange barracks, the Sleeping Giant tap house, the Thatched shed on the Alderleaf Farm, or the wizard's office/bedchamber. Let me know where you each go.
Robwin, During this long rest after finishing the Augury spell, roll (1d4+2) to set this the eggs charges and roll (1d100+50) to set its gp spell component replacement capacity. You have two additional eggs, a blue and violet. Do you share them with the others?
We can play out whatever conversation you each wish.
Otherwise, we will jump to early morning 12, Kythorn 1492 DR))
If it’s okay with the rest of the party, Robwin would like to spend some time at the wizard’s office and bed chamber. So as long as it’s fine with everyone, he would sleep there tonight. He would invite Elsa back too if she would stay with him.
Before sleep, he would attune to a blue moon egg. And he would of course share the others with anyone who wants one.
((Rolls to attune to the egg…
- The egg starts with 4 charges.
- And can replace 109gp worth of material components)).
He then wants to do two things before bed…
1) search the wizard’s two rooms for a spell book of any kind, and anything else that would be useful to a wizard (scrolls, part-workings, rough experiments, teleportation circles, etc). He doesn’t expect to find anything more but he needs to look when not under pressure of battle,
Once Robwin has searched as best he can, he settles down in the wizard’s office. He pulls the chair up to alchemy table and clears a space in front of himself.
He takes out the blue moon egg and holds it in one hand. He holds the other hand out, feeling for strands of the weave around him as he often does.
He thinks about the two women he has seen in his dreams and visions: one dark, and one light. The personification of polar opposite aspects of the weave. He feels for their presence: his fingers through their hair, a breath on his neck, something that tells him they are near.
And he begins to cast augury as a ritual, using the egg in place of material components.
Eventually, during the few minutes it takes to cast, he falls into a deep calm he hasn’t felt before, and his empty palm rests upwards out in front of him.
As he finishes the spell, he opens his minds eye while leaving his actual eyelids closed. He thinks he can see a version of the room where he sits, but in his open hand are a collection of bones… tiny dragon bones: a finger, part of the end of a tail, a couple of teeth, and other bones he doesn’t recognise.
He formulates a question in his mind about something he plans to do in the next thirty minutes… ‘I plan to…. to….’, he thinks. ‘I plan to trust this creature in the crevasse!… I trust it in relation to this egg, with my life and Elsa’s in this place tonight, and as an ally to our party going forward…. …. What say the Women of the Weave on the matter of trusting our new friend?’…
He scatters the bones from his hand, in his minds eye, across the table and examines them, waiting for an Omen from the weave…
Elsa does accompany you. The Miner's Exchange guard has cleaned and maintained the oil lamps, so travel for her in the cavern to the Wizard's chambers is much less creepy.
You search what was Glasstaff's office and bedchamber.
In the wardrobe, you find three sets of fine linens for the comfortable looking bed and a small open crate of various cleaning supplies. Elsa laughs at that, "Well that's a comfort. I'll change the sheets while you continue."
On the desk, as before, there are various papers and notes, many still stacked neatly on the desk, as you left them. A few of the journals are moved about. They contain Iarno’s written orders to apothecaries and alchemists, Felaskur Apothecary in Triboar, Halfwind and Master Goroth of Leilon, for more materials for his workshop; a page is torn from one of the journals.
As you noted before, the adjacent workshop has a small library of books. Taking the time to carefully examine them, you realize not one of them would fetch less than twenty-five gold at a booksellers or the university in Neverwinter. They are books written in Elvish, Infernal, Draconic, old Thorass, Illuskan and Dwarvish. Many have companion translations in old Thorass; mostly "common" (Thorasta) with better nuance and explanation pulled from the root language. One book that lacks a companion and appears more referenced than others is a Dwarvish text. Perhaps it warrant further study in the morning.
As you roll the bones in your mind's eye you see them slowly tumble to the table in what feels like a Weal, a good omen, a perfect wheel with four spokes pointing inward at NE, SE, SW, and NW.
"Sildar said there was a lot to be done. What was he referring to?" TT will ask taking a drink from her goblet.
TT, You heard the discussions, the planning, the lists of things done and things to do. You've been uncomfortable, a nagging uneasiness in the back of your mind, since the Will-O-Wisp encounter. It creeps forward whenever you aren't busy or in meditation. Perhaps, you just haven't had time to process? The encounter with the creature living in the crevasse of the cavern of the Tresendar Manor (Endure had called it); that brought this unease to the forefront again. The reaction you had while with Endure and Blaire at the tap house, was so strong, it added to this confusing disconnect. Your not even sure anything is actually wrong. You just know you feel like you are on very unsteady ground.
You're happily enjoying the sights, sounds, praise and rewards brought forth in this evening's feast and festivities.
You learned from Eli he was personally invited to join the Lords' Alliance by Sildar Hallwinter and Townmaster Harbin Wester and to assist in the Constabulary's organization and implementation. He also apologized for in his words, "forgetting he was holding onto items anyone in the group should be able to use", saying he'd be by the Stonehill Inn in the morning to give them to the party. "I'm going to be fairly busy here unless there is a specific project like that dragon, manticore or this Black Spider business."
You find it odd that he spoke to you separately, but whatever.
You note to from the various speeches, Sister Garaele, a young copper (wood) Elf, cleric of Tymora, overseer of the Luck Shrine, is welcomed back to Phandalin. She having apparently been injured in her travels still did a good bit of fighting and protecting during the "sleepless night" of Redbrand business. "Clearly Tymora smiled upon us.", someone had said.

Robwin sets the dwarven book to one side, to comprehend languages on in the morning.
He comes out of his meditative state, and out of his casing of augury, with a strong sensation of ‘Weal’ about trusting the creature in the crevasse. This puts his mind at ease a lot. He will remember to discuss matters of magic with them again soon.
Once he’s done for the evening, he locks all the entrances to the wizard’s rooms with the wizard’s key. He also performs his alarm ritual on each entrance too. Once he’s satisfied, he retires to bed with Elsa.
Rinn nods, unsure why Eli pulled him aside specifically, but smiles at him nonetheless. "I'll catch you in the morning then before you have to return to other matters. I'm sure the others will be sad to see you go, but also thankful for sharing that which you've collected."
As your meditation continues, your prayer seems to have some resonance, your flooded with memories of moments you may have forgotten or were you even there?
Rinn saying, "That manticore... they're not known to be the nicest, but maybe it's just looking for some food or something? We could talk to it. They're supposed to be selfish and bad, but maybe it's been driven from its home by the dragon? It does seem like the dragon everyone is talking about has caused some issues. What do you think? Should we go talk?"
Robwin ripping a job from the board reading, “Dwarf prospectors found ancient dwarven ruins in the mountains southwest of here, and have been working an archaeological dig seeking treasure and relics. They need to be warned that a white dragon has moved into the area. Take the warning to them, then return to Townmaster Harbin Wester with proof to collect a reward of 50 gp.”
Wolfsong saying, "This Blackspider seems to be weaving quite the web, but at least we know that some followers of Talos are not on it's side. Could be wise to seek out them out learn what we can about the spider."
Wolfsong saying, “I don't like this, we can not tell who is friend or foe in there, this is not a hunt I enjoy. Though I do agree with Rinn and Gralk, best we go in quiet, maybe try to get an innocents out of the field before the hunt begins,”
Hearing the resonance of those thoughts filter thru her payers a contented sigh and smile would creep over her as TT settles in to sleep knowing he is still with her.
As the day breaks, Eli is up washing, dressing and checking in with the fledgling Constabulary's holding facility at the Orchard then to its office at the Townmaster Hall. Once his tasks are complete, he'll meet up with the party at Stonehill Inn around midmorning.
As the day breaks, Cinnaess makes her way into Phandalin, checks in on Sarah and her father. Smirks at their concern and speculation on Elsa's whereabouts. Cinnaess confirmed she saw their Elsa with "the young wizard" late last night. Sarah was mortified by her father’s "that cunning girl" and even more so when Cinnaess burst out laughing.
