Rinn, Robwin, the morning is peaceful. You five are all keeping watch and from the trees.
Rinn, your casual play at cantrips clearly puts a smile on Gralk's face which to be honest is a disturbing sight.
Gralk from time to time casts dancing lights.
Robwin, much to your continued perplexity each time Gralk casts her cantrip, you feel an intense static charge build, a bizarre knotting of magical weaves of light and shadow in a way that you are certain would be firmly identified as "not possible".
"The rest of our group is waiting outside the village, they are fine," Wolfsong answers. "We found this wagon on our way back from Butterskull Ranch, it was meant to come here from a...Rockseeker I believe the note said...this halfling seemed to be the driver. He and whoever he was with was attack by goblins. We have a trail for the tribe that attack them, it is why the others are waiting for us. We also came to inform the townsmaster about the events at the ranch."
"I don't know this man, but I know Gundren Rockseeker and his brothers.", Barthen states.
Eli hands him the papers from Big Al. He sorts through them.
"You leave all this with me. I will sort everything out with the Townmaster and the mining company. Your due reward and some additional work is yours when you get back.", Barthen continues.
"I will tell you we were not able to pull together a militia to aid us. What we're dealing with is a bunch of ruffians who decided pushing the town down was better than honest work. Your lot is sorely needed."
"Do you want horses or gear? I will put it on tab and square up when you get back.", he points you to thistle, a person some of you met before in a different shop.
He turns to his assistants, "M'aiq, run check with the mining company if we can get a letter out to Rockseeker's kin. The rest of you sort this out."
As his hands start following additional instructions Thistle addresses you (all).
"Do you want horses?"
(( For this you can post a list of items you want to take up to 100 gp. No one item over 15 gp value. All common. You can also borrow up to four horses. Post what you ask Thistle to pull together for you. ))
Robwin is fascinated, and a little perplexed, at Gralk‘s methods with magic, and how she handles the weave... both subtle and brutal at the same time... strange. Very different to his.
He’s of course aware, that different groups manifest magical abilities in different ways, but he’s just not come across it done quite like this before. A very curious goblin indeed.
Often when something puzzles him, he tries to take his mind off it, to let his subconscious work on it, and come up with answers on its own! This he does now buy taking out the little lumps of clay he collected in Conybury, and squeezing and sculpting it into the shape of a miniature grasping hand, maybe about an inch-and-a-half tall.
When he’s happy with it, he both warms it and dries repeatedly, with alternate castings of the cantrips shape water and prestidigitation. And when it’s suitably hard and dry, he stows it in his component pouch for another time.
He then cleans his filthy hands with another casting of prestidigitation, and tries to figure out Gralk all over again!..
(( Riding horse speed 60 ft compared to TT 25 ft or Blaire/Eli 30 ft ))
Thistle pulls the requested bits together in short order.

It takes about an hour to get everything together. With the horses and Ikki flying you are able to reach the rest of the party after an hour of travel.
It is now around 11:30, just before high noon.
You pull the horses up near the trees the others set up in.
From here to the Cragmaw den north by northwest is about four hours based on what Robwin and Rinn have learned from the goblins. With the horses, you can get there in half that time.
Are you going to cut cross-country for that purpose or stick to the trail?
"Best to get there as fast as possible, right?" Rinn says to the others. "I mean, it'll be a bit tougher, but the sooner we can stop him from terrorising the main roads, the sooner we can get back to stopping that dragon."
Robwin clambers down from the tree, and stretches out his limbs now he’s back on the ground.
He nods to Rinn and looks around the group, ”I tend to agree. Let’s head straight there.... ..Although we’ll have to keep a keen eye out for any more traps, especially as we get closer!”.
He straightens his thigh-length, orange robe, re-cinches his belt, and dusts his hands off. He’s ready when the others are.
You all work out how to balance the party to spread the weight out evenly across the four horses and make good time to the Cragmaw clan lair. You pull up short to tie the horses.
You are on the south west side of a cavern entrance which is north of the Triboar trail.
Glufs points out a pair of goblins in a briar patch just east of the cavern entrance.
Everyone with a passive perception of 13 or higher noticed they look distracted by some type of game. They are clearly meant to be the clan lookouts.
Robwin, If comprehend languages is still active. Glufs seems rather disgusted. Her quiet mumbling includes phrases in goblin disparaging the "guards" and their lack of care for their clan safety or their duty.
You are 35 ft west of the entrance. A river about five feet wide runs through the open mouth of the cave. The goblins in their briar pathch blind are just east of the river.
Wolfsong takes in the surroundings, plotting routes he would take, noting what in the environment he could use for cover then turns to Eli and whispers, "Answer me this, is this to be a hunt or are we to spare those in there? Rinn and I should be able to take out the guards without alarming the rest of the clan, but once inside we should be cautious we know they are fond of traps and could have set any number in there."
Wolfsong then turns to Glufs, "How many would you say lay inside?"
Earlier when the party is balancing the weight among the horses, Ikki clicks his beak and asks Blaire, "What is 'ruffians'?" Blaire explains what the word means, and the bird-man scowls, but seems understanding of her explanation. "Should have *click* stayed to help." He ruffles his neck and shoulder feathers. "Go back soon. Help Jed."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rinn grins at Wolfsong as he says that they could take care of the lookouts. "They're not nice goblins, unlike our new friends. They've been killing travellers on the road. We should put a stop to them." He moves a few steps towards the hunting blind and the lookouts before stopping and looking back. "Shall we?" he says as he steps back and attempts to hide and sneak his way closer (Stealth: 25).
Robwin whispers to everyone, “Whether they are good, or bad, it might be worth capturing them alive. Or one of them anyway? They may just know where the survivors have been taken... or if they are even here, or still alive”.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Glufs answers Wolfsong with, "ten or twenty inside. Goblinkin, not just goblin. Gragmaw kill pale face; make trouble. We kill Gragmaw or they run. King capture; king judge."
She pulls a sling.
Gaatbort prepares his machete and shield.
Gralk nods and draws her dagger.
Blaire says, "Aye, Wolfsong, wipe them out. If they run, we'll deal with it later. The quieter we are for now the better." She draws her Warhammer and shield.
Eli prepares himself but says nothing.

TT, Wolfsong, Ikki, Blaire, and Eli make it to Barthen’s Provisions midmorning, around 09:30, after about two hours travel.
The tabaxi, M'aiq, is the first to spot you coming and calls Elmar Barthen to the front of the shop.
"Well, you go out on foot and come back with fewer folk, wagon and cart. What's going on?", Elmar asks warily.
Rinn, Robwin, the morning is peaceful. You five are all keeping watch and from the trees.

Letting the others do the talking, Ikki moves to the back of the wagon to retrieve the dead halfling to present it to Barthen.
"The rest of our group is waiting outside the village, they are fine," Wolfsong answers. "We found this wagon on our way back from Butterskull Ranch, it was meant to come here from a...Rockseeker I believe the note said...this halfling seemed to be the driver. Blaire hand the note to Elmar Barthen.
Barthen and his hands uncover the halflings face.

Wolfsong thinks for a moment before finally answering, "I could use a few javelins and a couple of hunting traps."
Wolfsong then turns to the rest of the party, "What of the rest of you? Anything you can think of?"
Blaire says, "Let's pick a quiver of arrows for Rinn, I saw him collecting what he could around the last couple days."
Both Eli and Blaire take a horse.
