For the last 3 weeks now, giants of tormented the world. They've been staging raids and attacking pilgrims. Spies for the king have returned with dreadful news, the giants have teamed up, instead of waring giant races. The king has sent a group of famous adventurers to attack and disrupt giant operations.
I'm running Against the Giants from tales of the yawning portal with that opening. Note that this is a series of dungeons, so there will not be much RP, but instead characters will have to use their brain to traverse tis dungeon without getting killed.

-Character's Name
- Race/Class
-Background
- Backstory (Does't have to be big, just tell me how your character became a hero)
Backstory: Raine was raised in a temple to Selûne, goddess of the moon. At a young age, she was chosen by the goddess and imbued with divine powers. Honored by this gift, she trained hard, and eventually left the temple to serve Selûne's will. Over the years, Raine traveled the realm, using her magic for the good of the people and earning a reputation as an accomplished healer.
- Backstory: Alden started life as a child soldier, sold by his mother to a Thayvian War Lord and forced to serve in the War Lord's army. He was quick, agile, quiet and smart, proving he could get into places others could not and doing his War Lord's bidding. It was a campaign into the Dalelands that changed Alden's fate. During a battle he saw things the "enemy' did that no Thayvian Solider would do, soldiers helping one another and going to each others aid. The Thayvian Army was driven back and on the journey home this plagued Alden's thoughts. He had to find out why. During the march Alden was able to escape and made his way back to the Dalelands. Alden wasn't there for 2 days before he was hired on to an adventuring party. Alden was quiet for most of the adventure, watching these people laugh, joke and sing. When it came time for battles, this party came to the aid of one another and, in the end, all made the journey and made it back alive. Alden was enamored by the life, by the experience and set out on a career. Along the way he made friends and gained a few mentors, wizards that shared their knowledge with him, rogues who helped him hone his skills and an elven archer that inspired him to seek out and learn ancient arts of magic and archery. Alden now travels the country side, helping people that he can and defending those in need, he's even heard a couple bard songs about his exploits. Alden has freedom now and will do everything he can to make sure others have it as well.
- Backstory: Moving Products all through out Faerun earned a Razor reputation "Never miss with the one eyed white Dragonborn". His crew of smugglers told him robbing a masked lord of waterdeep would be impossible, that's all Razor needed to hear. An impossible vault of unknown treasure, guard by golems, magic and other terrible thing sounds like the perfect job. Making it out with the Gold and few magic items Razor scattered the gold among the urchins and orphans of the city earning him the title of "the Ivory dragon, hero of the people" but if you'd ask Razor he would say "I did because I could, not because they need the money. Now get out of my face before I kill you!"
- Race/Class: Half-elf Variant (drow) / 8 Fighter (Battle Master) / 3 Warlock (Hexblade pact of the blade)
-Background Criminal
- Backstory: Zuril is the son of a well known hero, and is trying to get out of the Drow's shadow by finding his own way in the world. He found a strange scimitar one day that not only bonded with him, but into him. He made a pact with Fighter's Will, a weapon that changes to the user's will. (warlock hex blade pact feature) Together, him and Fighters Will sett of to take care of some pesky giants, furthering his own name and edging out of his father's shadow.
Some half-elves in Faerûn have a racial trait in place of the Skill Versatility trait. If your DM allows it, your half-elf character can forgo Skill Versatility and instead take the elf trait Keen Senses or a trait based on your elf parentage:

Name: Athanos Repikles
Race/Class: Human/Wizard (School of Illusion)
Background: Sage
Backstory: Athanos' aptitude in the arts of magic were noticed at a young age. His family had the financial means to provide him with the best education money could buy and the young boy left home to study under the tutelage of various notable wizards. When he finally finished his formal training, Athanos worked in the service of different politicians, city councils and other dignitaries. He gave them counsel on a variety of subjects and often used his vast arcane knowledge to solve problems that others could not. Over the years he earned a reputation as an exceptionally talented, effective and if necessary uncompromising operative.

Name: Risha
Race/Class: Half-Orc Paladin (Oath of Devotion)
Background: Gladiator
Backstory: Risha was raised by humans and was always taught that she had to do something based around her strength. She moved to a larger city and was greeted by a coliseum and she immediately knew this is what she wanted to do. In time, she became known as the champion. But with that title, she grew bored of this life. She decided to devote herself to Tymora.
- Backstory (Does't have to be big, just tell me how your character became a hero): Having an upbringing in the harsh Goliath groups in the northern mountains, Tanakukti sought out a more fulfilling life as an adventurer. Turning to his ancestor’s spirits, he sought out guidance in his quest of virtue. Upon hearing about the Giants threatening the defenseless common people, Tanalukti eagerly sought out to aid in taking down the Giants.
I'll roll stats tonight and post the backstory tomorrow. Character concept is a self-taught sorcerer (with a splash of Knowledge cleric) who is convinced he's a wizard.
- Backstory: Some half elves are raised among the elves, steeped in magic and surrounded by accomplished casters to tutor them. Morisul envied them. He had been raised among humans by the village blacksmith, who to his credit supported the boy's desire - arguably obsession - to become a wizard. So, Morisul had locked himself away in an unused hunting cabin in the woods, trying to figure out on his own how to cast even the simplest cantrips. That accomplished, he sought out a wizard to train him further, but was turned away. A brief stint as a servant of Mystra taught him much, among them that a cleric's life was not for him. So, he became an adventurer and with time and experience grew in magic power.
