Oniss looks around to the party and stops at Gertrude. and become visible frightened. He quickly walks backward trying to keep his cool at the sight of her. He hides near the canoes for some time. After a short while he returns to the group;
"I apologize. My magic, as you just seen, sometimes has ill effects. For the moment I was frightened by the sight of you, Gertrude."
Felix takes a swig from his rumskin, listening to Oniss story flinches to the word torture. He takes another drink, scratching his mask(happy)."Torture huh, I know my fair share of that."Taking off his mask showing the black bandages slowly unwraps them. "Since we are sharing, like Oniss I did my fair share of work. I was a burglar I worked for a crew and we used to help people on the streets. One day I heard a lot of gold was coming through... Long story short, I guess my "luck" had ran out and whoever owned that gold was out for blood. The next day I was captured and tortured for a number of years."
After the first few wraps you begin to see his red skull."They worked my body but I wouldn't given them the satisfaction of seeing me squirm, and that really pissed them off. That's when they worked on my face... After that I didn't really show much anything anymore... they released me a few days later. My home was burn my family missing and my friends dead that's when she appeared. She told me that her sister's feud with her cased my pain and that She would be with me my entire life. The next few years were kind of a blur I found myself in jail and the guards told me about Syndra and here we are!"He cracks a smile and starts to drink his rum skin..
Felix stares at her for a second and mutters a few words. "I think she Lady Doom... ever since I met her there's been one misfortune after the other..."
Grim faced and tight lipped, Brunella points to the empty paddles to anyone in the party that has not looked. The message is clear, danger ahead. She takes the empty canoe and drags it to the shore, and takes a few minutes to cover it with vegetation -- one never knows when they may need it.

The following evening and night pass relatively quiet. There is too much stillness in the jungle, like the silence before a storm. The following day, the adventurers make breakfast and chat as usual. Still, there is that feeling of uneasiness.

Gertrude follows her morning routine of putting insect repellent, and joking with Irommek about showing (or trying to hide) naked butts. But somehow it doesn't feel as natural as the days before. Gertrude, having had a good laugh with the others at Oniss's expense (but then again, what they were really seeing was Kurma hiding behind some canoes), feels something else take hold of the group. The knowledge, that they were traveling towards danger, towards a fight of unknown proportions. She feels a chill even though the heat of the day becomes more and more oppressive as the day goes on. Still she wants to get there, to turn that unknown into a known - a known beast that she could sink her handaxes into...
As the expedition proceeds through the morning, the party encounter a particularly muddy zone of the river. Musharib is not happy: " All right, don't put a single finger in the water now, if you want to keep your finger. If we are lucky there are just quippers, if we are unlucky, crocodiles."

Gertrude paddles very slowly, putting a large effort not to make any sound. She only has the paddle in one hand, in the other hand she readies her Handaxe (OCC: can I do a ready action?) for whatever might come out of the water. She signals to her friends to be quiet as they advance slowly...
OOC LOL The nearest creature is Gertrude.

The party keeps travelling deeper in that strange land that is Chult. A few hours later, an empty canoe comes into sight down the river.
Brunella leans over and uses her oar to hook into the canoe, and bring it to over to her group's canoe. She then looks inside.
