Gotur, you crack the elf violently across the head with the staff, and it echo's in this room. (-9)
When the elf gets hit, you all notice that the large bone he is carrying starts to glow with a sickly yellow light, the light from the bone now pulsating as the elf takes the damage.
Alton will rush forward to the newly formed ghoul. He draws both shortswords. Alton takes two strikes at the newly formed creature, gritting his teeth. (He has advantage on any creature that hasn’t taken a turn on the first round of initiative, triggering sneak attack. I will let DM decide if the ghoul is “surprised” and assassinate is triggered causing damage to double. Also, one more thing, let me know if the chamber is lit because if not, Alton doesn’t have darkvision, and would have disadvantage on these attacks, canceling the advantage.)
Alton, this room is definitely lit. There are torches on the southern wall of the room by the entrance.
The ghoul won't be surprised, but you'd definitely get the advantage as you can see quite clearly. Both of your swords cut deep into the already mangled body as it groans. (-14)
((Yes! This will be awesome!)) "Many graves, you have dug this day, but time it is, for yours to be started!" Ralf exclaims as he points his staff at the ground below Calador, and the earth excavates beneath him, causing him to fall as Ralfaen casts Mold Earth.
((I have no idea what will happen, but let's find out!))
Ralf, a 5ft cube of earth is removed directly under Calador and you place it 5 ft away. He falls into the hole, although it wouldn't cause him any damage. He will roll a DEX check to remain standing, otherwise landing prone. 4 and this catches the elf off guard and he lands prone in the hole.
Next Round: Calador, Landy, Gotur, Ghoul, Alton, Ralf
Calador stands up but remains in the hole. "FOOLS! Landy, do NOT leave me!" While standing in the 5ft hole, he creates 3 glowing darts in his hand, and they all shoot up in the air, and then immediately dart towards each of you, one dart hitting each of you so fast you can't hardly see it.
Ralf: 3 Alton: 2 Gotur: 4 (you all take the damage)
Landy now seeing her former comrade falling apart, starts to listen and she does what Gotur just told her to do. Head back up the stairs. She gets 25 feet back up the stairs, now out of view. She says nothing when she leaves, just sobs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((it's all good!))
Gotur, the fact that Calador is in the hole has messed up your swing. Your staff goes high, missing the elf.
The ghoul swings its claws back at Alton: Attack: 24 Damage: 14 and the claws dig through your armor. (-7).
Alton, please roll a CON save. The DC for the CON save is 10. A fail means you're paralyzed for 1 minute. It's your actual turn as well, so if you fail, you can then roll the save again. If you pass on the first roll, you can just take your turn.
So Alton, the initial claw attack definitely paralyses you.
Your turn then comes, and you're paralyzed and cannot take any actions. Then, at the end of your turn, the save kicks in which you have passed. So, your turn is over, but you are no longer paralyzed.
Ralfaen would cast Shield with his reaction, so he takes no damage from Magic Missile. "To have it come to this, I wished not, but begun, your burial has." As he begins to point his staff to the earth again, it starts to move, but then it stops, and falls to the ground. "No! Thinking, what am I? Preserve life, I must, and try, I will!" Ralfaen reaches down into the hole (if he can) and casts Protection from Evil and Good on Calador.
Ralfaen, the damage is reversed. You then move over, reach down and grab Calador and cast the spell.
The elf first looks at you with eyes of hate, and then you start to see his eyes flicker and they look like totally different eyes. More like, natural eyes. He looks stunned. He says "wha... wha... what the hell is going on? Who are you? La.. La.. Landy?? Quinn!! Skein?? Tanlik??"
(10 minute counter on the spell starts... NOW!)
Next Round: Calador, Landy, Gotur, Ghoul, Alton, Ralf
Calador picks himself out of the hole, and immediately throws down the now glowing bone that he was holding. "Please! Answer me! Where the hell are my friends? Who are you? Ughhh.... that... that bone... something about that bone... I can't quite remember...." he takes no further action. He can't remember much at this moment, although it might come back to him in the next few minutes, or if he is asked.
Landy continues to dart up the stairs. She'd be about at the top now, just getting to the main temple chamber upstairs.
Gotur, you disengage from Calador, and he does not take any attacks of opportunity because he seems to no longer be hostile. You crack the ghoul hard with your staff (-4)
The ghoul hisses and tries to bite you back: Attack: 6 Damage: 8 and the weakened creature just looks silly trying to bite out into the air.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alton will make a final effort towards finishing the ghoul off. He takes two strikes using shortswords against the putrid creature and gives a growl as he does so.
Alton, your first slash is all that is required. Ghoul is decapitated and falls to the ground. He's getting good at ghoul killing.
Since there are no immediate hostiles in the room, combat will now end and any of you can make a move.
Calador says... "Oh.... god.... it is all starting to come back to me now... it was that blasted bone!" he points to the bone on the ground which is now glowing and vibrating a little bit. Calador then drops to his knees. "Aaaaarrggghhhhh.... it's... it's in my head! That bone has somehow gotten into my head...." then a voice which is not Calador's but comes from Calador's mouth yells out "STOP RESISTING!!!!" Calador CON: 15Calador holds his head in his hands and then says "someone destroy the god damn thing, quick!"
(from putting 2 and 2 together, you can tell that whatever this bone is has somehow possessed and/or taken control of Calador. It can also apparently turn dead bodies into ghouls. Ralf's spell has temporarily stopped the possession and helped Calador's general awareness of it and his resistance to it)
You also hear Landy yelling down from above in the temple "Are you guys ok!!!??? Is Calador dead?!"
What will you do? That bone is glowing and vibrating on the ground.
Gotur, you crack the elf violently across the head with the staff, and it echo's in this room. (-9)
