Assuming Venovar tells Alton about the lockbox... Alton you are about to produce your thieves tools, but notice upon inspection that the box is slightly ajar.
You open it, and inside you find:
6 small vials of a strange green liquid, shown below
a very interesting dagger, shown below
Arcana checks can be made by anyone to determine if your character knows what these items might be and/or if they are magical.
Or, there are other ways of determining what these things are as well, of course.
Alton will shows the poison and dagger to the rest of the party, but will ask them if they would be okay if he at least could keep the dagger for himself.
"Fine by me, lad! Now, shall we get the god gods hell out of this decrepit place? Perhaps we can reflect on this further after we get back. Venovar, do you want to go back to the temple to see on your mother?"
"It could be useful for Alton in combat. I don't think it would work very well against those zombies though. Just look at them! The disgusting things could probably drink a gallon of poison and stay alive. Well, more like undead. Since... nevermind." He thinks for a moment. "Maybe we could sell some of the poison too... just a thought."
Alton snatches up the dagger and the poison vials, and the party heads out of the room and exits the decrepit sewer block, with dead zombies and the headless necromancer littering the passageways.
It is approximately 4:30pm in the afternoon. The streets are bustling with most of the dining establishments and bars just starting to open up their doors.
You all make your way back to the temple. You see the priestess and she greets you all, but speaks directly to Venovar:
"Ah yes, you have returned. Your mother is doing very well in her recovery. Our clerics took very good care of her and she is conscious but still very tired. You may go and see her but I would recommend just you go. Also... she is going to need some direct care over the next few weeks until the sickness and death is completely purged from her body and she slowly gets back to herself. Perhaps you could stay with her? I'm afraid I won't be able to spare any of our nurses since they are all helping other patients. Anyhow, you may go and see her now."
-> queue Ven's exit. Venovar, please say whatever you would say as you part ways, for now at least, with the party. I won't role play Ven's interactions going forward with his mom, unless you want to of course. If so, please DM me so we don't clog up the main game thread.
As for the others - it is now 5:00pm. Things are really starting to pick up in town now. Essentially you can do whatever you might want to do. I have the next adventure lined up for whenever you go to the Spring Shoot Inn, or if you end up doing something else, I am sure we can get a different quest set up, just like the Ven's mom / sewer one.
"I cannot extend my gratitude to you enough, my friends. You have helped me with so much, and I owe an eternal debt to all of you that I could never repay. I hope our paths will cross again in the near future, and I wish you luck on your next adventure. Again, my deepest thanks."Venovar then starts to walk off, giving one last wave to the party as he departs with his mother.
Venovar in his downtime will try to attune to the Ring of Protection, if that is fine with his mother. He will also try to sell his gem from the necromancer to a jewelry shop or any shop that would be interested in it. I think for the shop, we could either do it here or in a private dm, but I will let you decide on that.
Alton will wave goodbye to Venovar as well he sees the Half-Elf slowly walk away. “If you’re ever looking for some more adventure, you know where to find us,” he says with a smile.
Afterwards, Alton would also like to look for a shop to sell the poison vials and gemstone, possibly doing some magic item shopping in the process.
Lastly, he will return to the spring shoot to have an ale or two with Gotur before retiring to his room for the night.
Alton gives a nod to Gotur’s proposition before producing his thieves tools and approaching the lockbox to unlock it if it is made known to him.

Alton, it's clear that the vials are Poison, Basic (vial)
You also know exactly what that dagger is. You've heard about these types of blades before...
Dagger of Venom
(OOC: Guess I’ve got to go Assassin now!)

“Fine by me!” Alton says.
(I’ve put the poison and dagger in my inventory, but am happy to sell the poison. Should get us a good amount of gold.)

((once the party takes a long rest, you can level up to 3. Once Venovar leaves he can also level up))
((After we say our goodbyes for now with Ven, first thing Gotur wants is a bath, followed by a hot meal and a pint or five.))

If he'll permit, Gotur will pull him in for a bear hug and wish him and his mother well.
