She holds up the key regardless. "Looks like this was probably the key, but going to be useless now." She shrugs as she hands it over to anyone who wishes to look it over.
"Well, I think a few of us would like to get back to the forge sooner rather than later. We got over the ten-foot gap easily enough, forty feet wouldn't take much more,"Dorian says.
Huarache's most recent attempt to open the lock is... Successful.
I'm assuming if you're willing to open the locks you're planning on opening the door. This appears to have once been the treasury of Hrakhamar. It seems the dwarves manages to relocate the bulk of their horde, but you do find 10,000 silver and 1000 gold.
Resting atop one crate is a gauntlet made of gold and sized for an adult dwarf. The dwarves of Chult call it Moradin's Gauntlet, and it's customarily worn by the overseers of Hrakhamar. It is finely crafted and worth 2,500 gp, though a wealthy dwarf would pay twice that much to acquire it.
So are we all doing the flying boots thing or any other ideas? Last trip was 5 minutes for I think Leann carrying 3 other PCs, but I'm not really sure if she or Huarache had them at the moment. At any rate, I figure whatever you all did last time should take about 4 times as long this go, so 20 minutes seems right. Could you as a group just tell me who has been wearing these boots?
So did we do the thing we said with crossing the 40ft rift carrying part members taking something like 20 minutes (seems long now that I think about it, I think most of the 5 minute figure was drop off pick up kind of stuff with a short travel time, so scaling it for 40ft directly makes les sense. So.. 10 minutes plus the five from before?)
Assuming we did that and nobody objects, what so you guys want to do now that you're on the other side of the rift again? You have a map, so you would know that from the smelter you could take the tracks to the West that lead through 2 sets of caverns toward Wyrmheart Mine, or the tracks to the East that lead through one more cave area and on to the surface. Or of course you could rest for a while.
Yeah, I was sort of thinking he would do the scripted 'use smiths tools and a forge to make a copy of the keys with the molds in the book box thing from the secret room' thing. But lock picking proved equally effective.
The room over there. It's got two flat bed mine carts and two ore carts in functional condition. There are a dozen chains attached to the wall. Footprints in the cave clearly look like they were made by the striders you saw earlier.
How long have we been awake at this point? The forge is a good defensible place for a long rest, and if it's near time to take a long rest anyway, if anyone wants to get some forge work done before we go further, that's an option. But if we'd go through the mine and then come back here before exiting, then we could use the forge then, too.
A few hours of game time since you entered the cave. I never specified when you reached the cave though, so long rest if you want to.
Is the party going with Huarache to follow tracks or is he staying back with the ones who are resting? If I have it right, at least some PCs will try to long rest in the forge. If anyone is not doing that, speak up or that is what will happen.
"Huarache, please don't go far -- I haven't much magic left for the day if we do encounter any creatures in the mines. I'd much prefer to start fresh tomorrow. Perhaps we could take a further look at the forge equipment here for a while?" (Bribing him with downtime to work on forging/tinkering.)
Huarache will follow the footprints; the newts didn't seem to appreciate the good things in this forge/mine, but what did they find interesting?
They very much did hoard the best stuff as offerings by the shrine and the rest of the stuff they took as their own. Ingots of adamantine were in the forge because they were planning to use the material. They are not skilled craftsman but they do make things, like the statue of Imix, using whatever shiny bits they find. They tried to get into the vault but we're unsuccessful. They may have tripped the trap themselves and figured out how to reset it.

Huarache knows Dwarvish, in any case. He will try to pick that lock again. 12

I gave the boots to Echo, but I said I only would do that if nobody disagreed, and nobody disagreed, so we have a flying robo-dog.

Leann did disagree, and I assumed she took them. It would be best for a PC to get first dibs on items, instead of a companion.
Alright, then Leann has the boots.

Leann would be interested in the tunnel that leads to the mines.
Huarache also loves stuff about mining, being a blacksmith. He's all for seeing a lost Dwarven forge and mine.

Leann will do whatever the group wishes, either head on to the mines now or take a rest.

Huarache may not realize that Dorian's trying to lure him back with tinkering time, but he recognizes the need to recharge spell slots.
