"Subject unsuitable." The monotone voice announced flatly, locking into the wide stance ready position and again opening to reveal the lizard man.
Kwalish approaches, "Seems this type of armor is a bit beyond your Ken. I need someone to put it through its paces. What about you, Miss?" Kwalish asks Omiy.
(Ooc: yeah originally I didn't think about the proficiency because the thing can literally move around by itself and I think of the heavy armor proficiency as being able to move with the weight of it, so story wise it makes sense to me that any armor proficiency would suffice, however, considering that one of the players who wants it is proficient, and it is part of the class package that is conteibutes to the whole balance mechanic for the build, I decided to leave it up to the dice. The armor is Omiy's if she wants it.)
Yes. Also not sure about 'You can see' part. Once he's donned it successfully you can see him, he's just wearing armor, but while inside of a machine with its own consciousness that he does not directly control, I don't think you can see 'him'. He's like a mummy in a closed sarcophagus at the time. This analogy is especially easy to make if you remember or know of a really old cartoon called "Mummies Alive" wherein the titular mummies' sarcophaguses basically turned into power armor, iirc.
Omiy tries the armor, again it entombed its wearer, again thr voice announces in a monotone: "Measuring ... measuring... measuring." Aftet a long moment, the robotic voice says, "Error. System parameters incompatible."
"Oh.. of course." Kwalsih days to himself sd.he rushes over to Omiy in the armor, wrench in hand. He crouches behind her and loosens some bolts on the ring he installed for Sam's tail opening. The suit begins to close the hole once the ring is removed. once fully sealed, the system repeats it's red glowing eyes and "Measuring. " announcement. Then, a long pause, followed by the 'Ding!' of a small bell somewhere within the armor. "User accepted" the voice announces, eyes glowing now a steady blue.
"Sorry "bout that." Kwalish says, "If you don't like the color, you can change the lights as you please, turn em.off, make em brighter, just ask the suit and it will do as best it can to comply. Oh, and mind the little jewel tipped prong on the gauntlet here, do t go poi ting that at friendlies."
Turning to the group, Kwalish continues, "You all should rest before you head out. Time is the one thing that is actually on our side for once."
[Ooc: Take a long rest, then we're "Gonna go back in time."]
Also, while I was checking the Steel Defender statblock, I noticed that it can't be surprised, and I thought that was kinda useless since (in other games,) you need to use a bonus action to command the Defender. Turns out, a surprised creature can't take Actions or Reactions, and it can't move, but there's no ban on bonus actions. That's nice for those niche spells and subclass features, I suppose.
As you awaken, set about your daily regiment and begin to steel yourself for the journey ahead, kwalish is at work preparing Logan for the trip.
"Adventurers, it is time. Go to the Tomb, stop Acererak before he beco.es the archlich." Kwalish beckons. The group gather around the shiny winged skeleton and it begins to him, softly. For several seconds, the hum sustains, but no noticeable effect beyond this is seen or heard. Kwalish steps away and returns ro working on his console.
After a moment or two of the sustained humming, you all look at one another and the same thought occurs ro you - 'What do we even know about this guy, anyway?'
Before anyone can raise an objection, the space around Logan distors instantly, the world blurring, rushing away from the group in Ll direction with LogN T the epicenter of the space now impossibly distant from the retreating world. The hum increases in pitch and volume as the world flees... the sound stops abrultly, and the world rushes back at you, threatening to unceremoniously crush you.
The sphere of distortion holds fast as you notice the world you see is not the one that rushed from you a moment ago. No longer in Kwalish's Lab, you are outdoors, those familiar might note that they are on Oerth.
Construction of the Tomb of Horrors is well underway, focused on three tunnels being dug into the north end of a flat-topped hill covered in ugly weeds, thorns, and briars. Omiy (may) recognize it as the highest hill on the Plains of Iuz.
The rocky hill into which the tomb is being built is approximately six hundred feet wide, nine hundred feet long, and sixty feet high. Several large black rocks are pulled there
An active workers’ camp occupies the north end of the hill, above the tunnels.
Anyone can make an Intelligence check (Arcana, Nature, or Religion)
Separately, go ahead and give me a perception check for the three openings across the north side of the hill.

Sorry to disappoint, but anything that deprives you of your ability to take actions also prevents you from taking a bonus action. You can read it here. I doubt it will come up very often though. lol
As you draw near the openings at the top of the hill, Sam sees the ground has been disturbed, as by large creatures moving in and out of the third opening, small disturbances of the ground before the second opening and undisturbed ground before the first opening.
A number of tents along the north side of the hill house the tomb’s workers, their food storage, equipment depots, latrines, and so forth. The workers appear to be entirely Dwarves, perhaps 20 or more in number.
The Dwarves look surly and seem to be divided into two groups, each keeping their distance from the other.
[Ooc: only taking rhe first check, otherwise every check will eventually result in a tipping point and since most have passive failure i.e. 'you see nothing' it negates the point of checks.
I'm using it to establish that Omiy is presently at the front of the party and that the event one could potentially perceive didn't happen on the time you were approaching and watching.
In this case, I did actually treat Omiy's check as a success but nerfed the result slightly. A 12 would have spotted the large creature that made the tracks.]
So... PCs: you've got a camp with 2 gangs of Dwarves (all grumpy) and three cliffside openings near them. Seems like their building a Tomb of Horrors. What's the plan? Parlay, melee, stealth? All viable options.
Omiy cups her chin and thinks about the situation for a second. Stealth is probably out, and she doesn't know the dwarves intention yet. "Shall we go ask what's going on, then?" She asks the group.
Don’t f me please

Am I too late to Flash of Genius that?

Sure. Omiy will happily take if off Sam's hands.

Ah, long rest. Time to regain Echo, six spell slots, five uses of Flash of Genius, four Hit Dice, and 59 HP. Huarache was pushed to his limits.

"Hmm." Wearing her shiny new armor, Omiy mused at the new sight in front of her. "I feel like I read about this place somewhere."

Omiy identifies the rocks as the remains of living creatures that have been reshaped to stone by dark magic.

They're grouchy even for Dwarves, by the look of them. There are enough tools and supplies lying about to gather that they are a construction crew.
Three Dwarves in spiky leather armor sit together at a small wooden table drinking and speaking in hushed tones.
