For reasons explained in the OOC, we will skip Tel's turn. The mound shuffles a few steps, all it can muster after the severe bushwhacking it has received. The vines grappling Samogri relax as the mound collapses to the ground, dropping Sam with a soft 'thud'.
As Huarache goes to help Sam, he also checks to make sure the plant is truly dead. In doing so you are able to harvest the following components.
1 Shambling Mound Root-Stem. When held by a creature, that creature gains resistance to lightning damage as the stem draws the energy towards it. Can be mastercrafted (abjuration) by a spellcaster into an amulet of lightning absorption, which requires attunement. An attuned creature is immune to lightning damage, and if it would take lightning damage, it instead regains hit points equal to the damage that would have been dealt.
17 Shambling Mound Vines. Acts as a whip. Can be crafted (alchemist’s supplies) into a Potion of Fire Resistance or a Potion of Cold Resistance
Ooc: I'll post in the ooc thread how the crafting mechanic works if anyone wants to try making the amulet or potions.
After laying the shambling mound out with her final strike, Leann steps back, cleaning her blade on some leaves she finds nearby. Looking around hse notices one of the group is missing. She frowns and tries to discover where they went, or what happened to them.
Looking around the area you discover tracks that head of to the Southwest. It seems Vernell headed this way. Following the tracks for a bit you see that the area you've come to has been disturbed as if a confrontation had take place here. Broken branches and singed leaves can be spotted. Some marks on the ground look like a small group of bipeds were moving about the area, but their 4-clawed tracks have left scorched earth underfoot. These are clearly not the tracks of lizardfolk, known to inhabit the Valley of Dread to the South of the Sky Lizard Mountains, which tower above the jungle before you.
From the understory to the East comes a rustling. A wild boar bursts from the leaves and dashes across your path. Behind it you hear a louder thrashing. Something is approaching rapidly in pursuit of the pig.
3 Deinonychus follow the boar, rushing, disappearing back into the jungle as fast as they appear.
One of the Deinonychus appears again before you, emerging from the spot through which the group chased the boar. It stands in profile before you, waiting motionlessly.
Ctenmiir pipes up "Look alive. They're flanking us."
Sure enough, looking closely trough the thick leaves and vi es, you can see the pair of dinos, I e in either side, waiting to pounce. An I start before they attack, they appear agitated and take off to the south. Just as suddenly as they appeared, they vanish I to the woods.
Behind you emerges a huge Yuan-ti half-blood with blue, yellow and black scales. An expert would guess with confidencethey are of House Sauringar. She is an imposing figure, but does not seem imminently hostile.
"Good afternoon, Madam," says Shutorn to the yuan-ti. "Do those rather impressive reptiles belong to you, or are we just lucky you happened along when you did?"
"those hunters are known to us, but they are wild. If they are anyone's subjects, they belong to the king of feathers. As to your luck... that remains to be seen." She slithers swiftly toward you. "What business do you have in these parts?" Her movements are slow, except when she punctuates her words with sudden sharp gesticulation, as when she asks your purpose and thrusts her outstretched finger toward you, freezing as she awaits a response.
The estute observer may surmise she is pointing directly at Leann, who is at the center of the group.
and see if I can make a dagger out of the any of the dead lightning lizard
Next time you get a long rest you can just make one; Let me know if you do. Primal awareness turns up nothing. I do notice though that your natural explorer trait would show that there were 6 medium creatures and if you haven't noticed yet, you soon will, that there are also 6 large creatures whose footprints begin where the medium footprints end. They passed here around an hour ago.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The Yuan-ti looks surprised. "So, you just happen to be passing through here?" 76
"The paths and tunnels of the Barrier Peaks take weeks or months to traverse, while others claim to navigate the same routes in mere days.
Stranger still, charting your route in the peaks is most unreliable. Many’s the explorer that’s used stars and compass to plot a course, only to find themselves back at the beginning edge of the place where the trip began."
"Who sent you? And how many of you are searching for this place, anyhow?" 43

Following the skirmish you notice that Vernell is nowhere to be seen. You're quite certain he was here before the shambling mound was spotted.
Ooc: roleplay and/or make a Survival, perception or investigation check. (DC for Survival is the lowest)

What do you do?
“Hold don’t move there hunting move but be as agile as the wing”
Dorian holds still. "Something seems to have gotten to Vernell. Do we have a chance of recovering him?" he asks in a whisper.
