If that doesn't turn out to be good, Huarache will go to his first idea of a hammer, a piton (non-glowy), and a grappling hook (I don't have many other ideas).
"I have another one for you," Omiy says, undiscouraged, "How much do tritons weigh? 3000 kg! Got it?"
Perception: 18
You see Colcook (Shameshka's mirror holder guy) chatting with a White Abishai.
You also notice something about the gith's reflection in that mirror. The eyes seem to flash briefly to total darkness, inky wells of pitch that return to their normal humanoid nature a moment later,
If that doesn't turn out to be good, Huarache will go to his first idea of a hammer, a piton (non-glowy), and a grappling hook (I don't have many other ideas).
"Aaahhh. I will take this payment. Now, what you may have heard, I cannot guess. What I am sure you know is the endless war that rages between the Abyss and Baator. Here, we see all fiends, side by side. It isn't peace, per se, but it is power, or potential, or peril. It is stability, balance with direction. The Oarsman is a microcosm of this dream. It is why I established the Oarsman. but it is no more than a model. But with the mercurial's power... it can make real that which lacks form in the multiverse we know. You have heard of a portal here, and here it is. The demon's don't like the idea of a powerful lawful force in the multiverse, so they have worked to keep the mercurial locked away. There will be fallout if it is found that I helped you in this endeavor." The gith rambles on.
"Zatara has given you what the Dabus have held close for so many years, previously known only ot the Lady of Pain ... or perhaps not even her, depending on what one thinks of the Dabus." The gith walks behind the bar and from under the heavy wooden plank withdraws a gleaming longsword. A weapon that shines like a mirror, as if dipped entirely in molten silver. He raises the sword in his left hand, "This," he barks, "is the Fourth Door" he stabs the sword directly into the center of the mirror, which shatters as he does so, leaving a frame mounted directly to the wall. The previously covered area is a much brighter shade of near-white than the yellowing wall beyond the frame. The wall itself bears the wound of the sword's point. "Do as the message instructs, and the door will open, so long as you hold the key." he says, indicating the sword as he lays it on the bar.
{ooc: The instructions are a convoluted Simon says thing and I'm not a big fan of that, bit I was too lazy to change it, so .. yeah just say you do the thing if you want to do what it says, or you know, go back some pages and see what it said. Or you know, don't, I guess?"}
I'll save you the use of a detect magic. It's a +1 longsword, silvered. (any other special attributes are very specific and apparently not 'magic')
As Shutorn reaches for the sword (which we've established is the key) and begins the ritual, the space on the wall begins to glow a deep purple, brightening to iridescent blue, brightening as he continues. As he does, Rule of Three tells you that the sword you hold is made of material from the Mercurial's home realm, a higher reality, more vivid than our own.
At the uttering of the word "Magnificent" the portal opens, warm arid winds blow from the passage, beyond which a red rocky cliff lies before you.
"Nice!" Shutorn exclaims, feeling quite the wizard for having successfully completed the ritual. He stands up to his full height, puffing out his chest, and strides forward through the portal.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Is he looking at Omiy right now? She wants to try and blend in the crowd away from him. And she moves her echo right up behind Colcook, smashes the back of his head, and dismisses it right away so he doesn't know what hit him.
Omiy hits Colcook in the back of the head. He seems dazed.
Ooc: Omiy, Is this a bid for combat or a hit and run?
Can everyone who is still actively playing please post in the ooc thread so I know for sure. Anyone who's not planning to continue can just stay in Sigil and that's a handy narrative conclusion. In case you missed it, the portal leads back to the scripted Kwalish module, so expect more of that.
You emerge from the portal on a hot dry plateau. Dotting the region are strange geological formations. Close observation reveals recent carvings that have been etched into these in thieves’ cant and Infernal, marking the route ahead. This graffiti lists the names of individual outlaws that have passed through. They also make reference to something called “the Monastery of the Distressed Body” and its “Grand Master,” who supposedly offers shelter and protection to all those who submit to their authority.
The path winds between large rocks and columns. You emerge emerge on a narrow cliff ledge overlooking an impossibly deep bowl-shaped valley. Floating hundreds of feet in the air at the center of the valley is a large island of rock. Enormous chimney- engines extend from the bottom of this island, burning with fitful, deep-red fires that appear to keep the island aloft. A series of odd structures rise from the rock, appearing almost like metallic crystals.
Farther down the cliff-side ledge is a flat metal dock, on which reclines a feline monstrosity with a female humanoid head—a regal gynosphinx. She sits in conversation with an eladrin woman holding a cat in her lap. {Those who were present for the initial meeting might recognize her as Mary Greymalkin}. A matching dock is thrust out from the floating rock island across from this dock, but there is no obvious way to cross the hundreds of feet of open space between them.
The gynosphinx appears to have suffered ancient injuries to its head, which have healed and been replaced by mechanical components. Both the creature’s eyes are now glowing blue lenses, and its head is orbited by a number of spinning metallic devices.
The pair cease rheir conversation and look in yiur direction, noticing ad you emerge from the shadow of the rock. Standing with feline grace, a brief stretch followed by a fluid gate, the sphinx saunters casually to greet you. “Entreat with me,” she says, “if you wish to cross to the monastery. You do not appear entirely ignorant, and I look forward to adding whatever small knowledge you might possess to my collection.”
"I'd say we are smarter than most, I think. Especially Haurache here." Omiy agrees, she points at the Timekeeper's symbol on her armor, looking up at the giant sphinx with admiring gaze, the legendary creature in her gracefulness, "what are you looking for?"
Leann gives the Sphinx a bow of respect. "Ancient one, I have little you would find of interest I fear, but what little I have is yours if you wish it."
Huarache steps forward, also bowing because it seems as though everyone else is doing it, and he says, "Ask me the questions, bridgekeeper; I'm not afraid! What sort of knowledge do you request?"

I suppose then, that we follow the instructions on Zadara's paper, with the bowing and all that.

Yes, by all means, Shutorn "does the thing."
"So we are going," Omiy says as she looks beyond the portal. She says goodbye to Gearbox and pays him for his service.
Also did Colcook see Omiy? She wants to punch him in the face with her echo before she jumps through the portal.
"Nice!" Shutorn exclaims, feeling quite the wizard for having successfully completed the ritual. He stands up to his full height, puffing out his chest, and strides forward through the portal.
Go for it. And yeah, everyone sees you guys.

Do I roll for attack?
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
Attack: 9 Damage: 6
Leann adjusts her shield and steps through with the others.

Lol.
That was a hit and run. Omiy's hopping through the portal.
