Howdy, y'all. So, I've had a wacky idea bouncing about in my head for the past few days, and I've been thinking of translating it into campaign form. I wanted to see what people thought first before making a recruiting thread, though. So, the basic premise in this: When you were alive, you were great. You could have been a mighty warrior, a life-saving hero, or even the child of a god. Then you died.
Now you find yourself at the bank of a great river, surrounded by thousands upon thousands of other people, each seeming somewhat incorporeal and ghostly. Looking down at yourself, you appear to be the same. Through the thick fog emerges a large ferry, sounding its horn. It docks, and an rough, weathered seaman steps out, holding a large bag.
Woah it's greek underworld but kinda modern too it's crazy look wow. Anyways, long story short, you'll all find yourselves stuck in Elysium, the so-called paradise of the greek afterlife, except it's boring as hell. Pun intended, I'm very funny. There's a clear way out, but that'd require you to lose all your memories, effectively killing you for good. The only other way out is to go back the way you came.
The campaign will focus mainly on your party fighting/navigating your way out of the twisting tunnels of the underworld to the surface, slowly regaining your once great powers. You will die. You will come back again. You will die again. You will come back again. But eventually, one day, you will be free.
Also, yeah, this is totally inspired by Hades, though I've put my own spin on it.
Anyone interested?

Oh, Yes! Sounds like a good place to use stuff from the Theros book too. I've been interested in Hades too, but haven't gotten around to buying it yet.
Ah, Orpheus goes looking for Eurydice and gets stuck, hm? I played a game once that got away from the DM, random actions were tossed in every once in a while, and the characters (one of whom was a cloned mage seeking to destroy her double - that was the litch) ended up fighting a litch, and her allied demons, up and down the 999 planes of Limbo. What a blast, lasted for almost seven months of heavy playing. Yes, I would be very interested!

I just got the Theros book and it's... pretty great. I'd definitely be interested in playing in this setting.
While I'm going to be drawing a lot from the setting, we won't be playing in Theros. I'm not going to be hiding behind fake names and twisted myths like Theros, it'll all be actual greek mythology, though I'll definitely be adding my own twists and modifications. While the campaign is set in the underworld, the world above is going to just be ancient greece, though it will be quite a bit more magical. The good old "magic actually exists but it just kinda stopped in modern times" take.

Hm. My mistake. Still, I'm interested to see what it would be like to play in an actual greek setting. Definitely excited if you decide to run it and I get in

I totally forgot the Theros book existed. I have to go get that now, don't I?
Blast.

Holy hells, this book is great. I'm definitely gonna draw from it a ton.
Also, I've realized how much of an ordeal modernizing the underworld will be, so I've decided it to keep it fairly ancient.

Sounds awesome! I was into Greek mythology as a kid, haven't picked up the Theros book yet, but been hearing some of the lore on dragon talk.
