Name: Natallia Race: Firbolg Class: FIghter(Samurai) Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Natallia belonged to a group of Firbolgs who lived in harmony with a mixed race settlement of loggers. Under the guidance of the firbolgs the resources represented by the trees were shepherded and sustained the people of the area for many years. Natallia, like many of her kin, served on logging teams, felling great trees. A nearby hobgoblin realm was jealous of the resources of the region and started their own operation, despoiling the land they cleared. This led to many conflicts, resulting in a full scale guerilla war. Eventually, the hobgoblins greater military skill and numbers won out, and they launched a full scale assault on the village. Natallia was one of three loggers who held the gate long enough for the majority of the non-combatants to escape, and the only one to survive. Her heroics got her name spread around as a great warrior. With her people scattered, Natallia began traveling around, looking to help and defend the less fortunate. Hearing the plight of the king, she has traveled to take up the quest.

Name: Bovin Alstroem Race: Variant Human Class: Warlock, The Undead
Backstory: The love of his life fell ill to a rare disease. He could not live with the loss and tried to Forget but was unable to. He went Deep into the dark forrest to find the Gloomweaver, a hag dealing in necromancy, to recover his loved one. Though the hag tricked Bovin and he broke his side of the contract upon which the hag bestowed him with a curse of undeath. Since he has been wandering the world aimlessly until he heard of the curse that befell Roses. If that curse could be lifted, then maybe could his curse, reuniting him with his love.
Magic Items: Pipe of Smoke Monsters, Dark Shard Amulet, Would it be reasonable to get the 300gp component for the "Summon Undead Spirit" spell instead of an uncommon Item?
Additional Info/Questions: I think it would be interesting that because of the curse Bovin would be regarded as an undead creature. Similarly i would like the idea of him temporarily banishing the curse from his Body when casting "Summon Undead Spirit". I also intend the curse to be the "Patron", not the hag.
Magic Item: Ring of Jumping (Never toss a dwarf!), Cook's utensils, component pouch
So, you have come to hear the story of Hamwise Boldfast? If not, too bad - I'm telling it anyway. It began, as most adventures do, in a remote mountain village with little access to the wide world. As per tradition, once a generation, the best cook of the village presents himself or herself to the Court of Gold, the ruling council of the southern hill dwarves, to prepare a special feast, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Hamwise, along with his six brothers, competed valiantly for the honor to lead royal kitchen as head chef, and best cook in the multiverse - unfortunately, he lost. Filled with rage and disappointment, Hamwise left the far hills in search of glory, adventure, and new recipes for his soon to be bestselling compendium of culinary experiences. He hopes one day to return with his book complete, finally able to challenge the current winner with recipes of might and wonder. Why does an aspiring cook and part-time evil-slaying machine want to visit the layers of hell? Well, if anyone knows how to make a sinfully delicious devil's food cake, somebody down there does...
Name: Uncle Luca Class: Bard-College of Spirits 3/Cleric-Grave Domain 2 Race: Half Elf Background: Haunted Common magic: Everbright Lantern, Masquerade Tattoo Uncommon Magic Item: Bag of Holding Backstory: Everyone comes to speak to Uncle Luca cause everyone wants to know about the next world or talk to that loved one who went to the other side. Luca was born with the gift or curse of seeing and hearing the spirits of the dead, and others. It took a few years but Luca mastered his gift, with the help of his grandmother, Cher, a true and powerful witch in her own right. Eventually Luca set out on his own, setting up shop here or there. He'd tell the spirits he was "in town' and suddenly the living and dead would be coming to see him for whatever their reasons. The living wanted to hear from a long dead loved one or have Uncle Luca "cleanse" their house or child from a dark spirit. The dead would come to him wanting him to send a message or have someone complete a task they themselves never got around to doing. There were other "things" that would show up form time to time and Luca would send them packing but, they seem to be starting to get more frequent and Luca doesn't have the power to defend against the big ones , just yet. It wasn't a surprise that the King's summons came to Luca, the spirits had told him it was coming. Luca knows he has to go and try to help but, it hasn't been told to him if he will survive or not. Guess some surprises are part of life and death.

Name: Khrynor Class: Ranger - Horizon Walker Race: Aarakocra - Harris's Hawk plumage Background: Criminal Common Magic Items: Pole of Collapsing, Smoldering Studded Leather Uncommmon Magic Item: Decanter of Endless Water
Backstory: Khrynor's father was druid of the clan near Unicorn's Run, but after an unnatural encounter with the Feywild, he lost his mind a bit and was unable or unwilling to continue following the path to greater power. The elders believe he encountered an archfey who charmed him or cursed him - now all he wants to do is tell everyone how much "the Fey loves you." The family was expelled as a disruptive influence and they left to live in Secomber and eventually Daggerford.
Khrynor grew up running minor scams, theft, and beggar cons to help the family eat - his mother had a checkered past and taught the children her skills - Khrynor excelled at picking locks. She had rules - "never take from the needy, only from those who have some to spare, always leave things tidy." His life was dramatically changed one evening when raiders entered the town, not just roving bandits, but the army of a dark wizard. The family hid, but Khrynor just had to watch the battle from the bell tower of the temple next door. The wizard had summoned a demon that was rampaging from building to building, including the one next to the temple. And he saw the rangers who hunted and destroyed the demon.
He turned to go home to tell the story of what he'd seen when he realized the last building destroyed contained his family. He flew down in a panic and was shot through the wing by the ranger standing guard - thinking that Khrynor was another threat. He could not find his family under the rubble, he stood and wept. After a few minutes, he turned to the ranger, pulled the arrow out of his wing and returned it to the ranger - "teach me how to hunt demons" is all Khrynor could say.
Learning that the King of Roses has a demon problem - he comes to offer his services and for the chance to meet out justice in their home plane.
Backstory: Abandoned as an infant in a crowded city, the tiefling who would one day come to be known as Xanktus owed his life solely to the kindness of a passing stranger; a traveling merchant who happened to pick him up out of the gutters and bring him along on her journeys. She raised him to be her eyes in the shadows in any town or city they stopped in. She would set about selling her wares, while he snuck about gathering up any useful information about the local populace, news, and rumors he could find. Often, the end goal was to track down some obscure bit of esoteric knowledge that the merchant could ultimately claim for herself. The two made for quite the team for many years. In her final years, the merchant revealed to her young ward that she had secretly been gathering information not for herself, but for another. Just as he was her eyes in the dark, she acted as the eyes of someone else. A higher power. A god, as she put it.
With his old master now dead going on 44 years, Xanktus has since made a life for himself as a scholar teaching arcane history in a university within the same city he’d been abandoned in as a child. Yet the life of an idle professor is merely a front. For Xanktus has long since taken up the mantle the old merchant had left for him; becoming one of the many sets of mortal eyes for an unknowable being with an endless thirst for knowledge. He has made a habit of taking long leaves of absence from the university in pursuit of esoteric texts and arcane tomes to add to the organization’s library. In reality though, the university only sees about half of what he finds. And not a scrap of it reaches them without first crossing Caiphon’s gaze.
A recent excursion has brought him to doorstep of the King of Roses. Yet, he has come away empty handed; the texts he set out to retrieve already gone from their supposed resting place. Hearing of the King’s dilemma, he quickly forms a new plan; hoping to offer his services in exchange for a chance at some particularly difficult-to-obtain knowledge of the abyssal variety...

Backstory: Zenver was raised as a normal, happy, but troubled child. Fate seemed to work against him more often than not. Even the fabled luckiness of halflings did not seem to protect him from more numerous dangers than a boy his age should have encountered. It was for this reason that his parents sent him with his uncle, a travelling mender and salesman to the city. He would be evaluated by doctors and mystics and anyone with a theory to see if some curse laid on his head that needed to be broken.
Instead what they found was that Zenver was a nexus of arcane chance and luck...untrained that swirling nexus caused terrible things to happen, but with proper training perhaps he could bend it to his will. Thus began his academic career. He was trained in the great mages academy Tol'Neth'Brang. He learned a great many of the arcane arts, finding that his peculiar nature and aptitudes drew him reliably to the most uncertain of them all, parting the curtains of reality to reach into the mists of the future and bring back some possibility.
Now a journeyman graduate of the academy, Zenver travels the land in search of opportunities to expand his knowledge further and find a path through the mists of the future that will bring him happiness.

Giving birth to a tiefling came as quite the shock to Mourn's noble parents. So much so that they hid him away so that the world would not know their shame. While confined to the castle, Mourn grew to hate himself for what he was. This fury turned to violence. He became the demon his parents had feared he would become and for that they shunned him and banished him from the castle.
In his exile, Mourn learned to control his rage and direct the violence toward those that deserved it rather than himself or innocents around him. Having accepted that he was no longer a member of his noble lineage, it came as a shock when his ancestors began presenting themselves to him and aiding him in his fight. It seems that many of those that came before do not agree with the actions of Mourn's parents and have taken him under their spectral wings. Mourns great-great-grandmother Vera has been particularly influential on Mourn and in helping him to realize that even if his living family never accepts him, he can still honor his ancestry and one day rejoin his family line in the next life.
Backstory: Torrin was raised in a household devout to Bahamut, and told to always do what was right. As soon as he was old enough he enlisted in the kings army, but soon grew disillusioned with the military. He felt that the didn't do enough to combat evil, just settling minor land disputes and suppressing up-risings. During one of these incursions Torrin lost his left eye, and got his oppurtinuty to leave. He began travelling far and wide, looking for true evil to destroy. He let out a small thankful prayer to Bahamut when he was passing through the town square and heard the crier call for adventurers to delve into the depths of the Abyss, this is precisely what he was looking for.
The herald cries out the announcement in the town square. The king of Roses, a neighboring city state has need of help. "Felix, first of his name, King of Roses sends greetings and begs your help. He offers twice a person's weight in platinum or up to half his kingdom for the party that is able to descend into the Abyss, defeat the evil mother of demons, Damagh Al'um, and rescue Roses from the Undead curse it suffers under.
Too late? You have arcanists, but no wizards...Working on throwing together a divination wizard right now for consideration.

Not too late yet. I've gotten a little behind, but I'll close this thread in a couple hours probably.

Name: Mourn
Race: Tiefling
Class: Barbarian (Path of the Ancestral Guardian)
Background: Noble
Common Magic Items: Horn of Silent Alarm, Clothes of Mending
Uncommon Magic Item: Longsword of Warning
Name: Torrin Delmirev
Race: gold Dragon Born
Class: Paladin, oath of vengeance
Background: Soldier
Magic Items: uncommon- winged boots, common- ersatz eye, common healing potion
