still coughing from the Dretches retched cloud, torrin rears back to swings on the two left attacking him ((attack 1: 25 doing 10 damage, attack 2: 21 doing 8 damage))
With two mighty cuts, Torrin dispatches the two remaining dretches. Each dies with a wet thud and a vile stench. All of the heroes have had some kind of interaction with demons before. As they breath, it strikes them that these demons, unlike any other they've fought, did not die in a flash of sulfur and ash, but their bodies remain very physically present--most in multiple pieces.
As the last anguished echo of the dying dretch dies away, the silence that follows is eerie and oppressive, broken only by the heavy breathing of the exerted heroes.
Sylzet snorts as she flicks her blade to clean the ichor off. "...Well, that was fun." She mutters as she idly kicks one of the bodies. "...What, do you not melt in your homeland?" She'll ask before turning back to the door, raising her greatsword to let the glow wash over it again, trying to determine if the door had a locking mechanism, or if they had to go looking for these generals...

The Dragon Born stumbles to the nearest wall and leans against if for support, still coughing and wheezing "That has to be the most vile stench I have ever smelled". He punctuates this with a long throat clearing hack. "The warlock's journal mentioned this door, and at least one of the names on it" He pulls his journal from his bag and flips through his notes. "I believe this door holds the one they call Torizo, and he is apparently sleeping in a fashion, and guarding the Warlocks initial work. He says the doors require a sacrifice of magic or blood, of varying degrees. Also keep your eyes out for flaming orbs, apparently he has hidden useful items near or within them" as he says this his copper eye does a quick scan of the surrounding area.
"Blood or magic? Or both, in a mixture?" Sylzet glances over her shoulder at Torrin as she adjusts her armor slightly... She was still bleeding from the dretch snagging her, all it would take is a twist of her arm to drip the blood down onto the door.

"His notes seemed to make it out to be one OR the other, but your guess is as good as mine" Torrin seems to have finally recovered from the dretche's fumes, and ambles over to get a better look at the door ((ooc I know I took the warlock's journal and copied the high points and started out on that map, but did I bring his actual journal with us??))
(OOC: You have the warlock's journal with you, and as you take time and progress you can likely translate more of it. I am going to take over Zanver, until we hear back from Bounces, at least for the time being.)
The halfing wizard seems to snap out of a trance, his right hand held out in front of him as though to ward off something, trembling softly in the direction of the now-dead demons. The whole battle lasted merely a few seconds.
"Uhh..." He clears his throat and glances around, "I, uh, apologize, my friends. I've never experienced such a thing before, such a powerful vision..." his eyes seem to lose focus as he speaks, "I had a vision, of a dark evil lurking, semi-conscious far beneath us... She is connected to all around us. These dretch, and things far worse... they-- they hunt, not explicitly for us, but like an immune system, seeking to destroy all that is not her."
He blinked away the vision, and turned back to the party, clearing his throat and gathering himself. "Well, we knew most of that anyway I suppose."
"So in other words, blah blah blah, normal demon sleeping overlord bullshit. Consume, destroy, chaos." Sylzet seems incredibly unphased as she turns back to the door, shaking her arm a bit to have blood drip down her armor into the palm of her gauntlet'd hand. Once she had a sufficient quantity, in her mind, she flings the gathered blood onto the door.

From the party's viewpoint, as Sylzet's blood makes contact with the door it immediately bursts into smoke and green flame that lances out racing back along the blood droplets still in the air and wraps itself around the paladin. She appears to be turned to smoke and flame and pulled towards the door, before all goes silent. The "door" remains closed with no indication of change. No blood is visible on its surface.
From Sylzet's point of view,
She throws her blood with the intention of passing the gate. As the blood sacrifice touches the stone, a green flame lashes out burns from the place of the wound (causing 5 psychic damage). As the pain reaches a peak, she is pulled towards the door in a flash, which now appears to be made of smoke and ash. The world goes black for a moment as she passes through, then she finds herself in a long, wide corridor, at least 30 feet wide and tall, and 100 feet long, the gate she just entered looms directly behind her. The corridor is brightly lit by green flames that hover along the unmarked stone walls, like burning torches without the torch. At the end of hall rests a massive statue of a giant monster that seems all teeth and tentacles and claws, just looking at it seems to be uncomfortable and painful, and the eye wanted to look away.
Along the corridor are two doors opposite each other, about half way between Sylzet and the statue. These appear much smaller than the massive gate behind her, but appears to be similar in nature to it.
"...Ow... ow... Of course it was something like that..." She looks back at the door and swings her greatsword at it in a manner of frustration. "You were supposed to open, not make each of us sacrifice, you stupid DOOR!" After her outburst, she grunts and looks back around the room, moving towards the statue and raising her sword to try and get better lighting. She then pauses and decides to look at the doors since she has to pass them anyway... Seeing if the markings are any similar to the big door, or how they have differed.

Torrin's hands slip through Sylzet as though she is so much smoke, before she is pulled through the door, leaving him grasping at air.
All is quiet for a moment.
Then Zanver steps forward and examines the door. "Hmm... either it killed her. Always a possibility, we are in the Abyss after all... Or we each have to make a sacrifice of blood or magic." The halfling turned to look at the hulking dragonborn. "Wasn't there something about portals designed to weaken travelers?"
"aye, I believe so" Torrin looks down at the ragged tear the dretch's claw had torn across his shoulder. He wets his hand in the blood, and presses it to the door

From Zanver and Xanktus' point of view, a similar thing happens when Torrin touches the door. The blood catches fire and lashes out with green flame surrounding the dragonborn, turning him to smoke and pulling him through the door. Then all is silent again.
Zanver waits for a moment, then shrugs. "Well, let's try magic then." He raised his hand to the door and small lightnings spring from it to play over a small area on the door, but nothing happens. "Hmm.... well, I didn't truly expect a cantrip to work, but trying was important." The halfling sighs, and then raises his hands, traces an arcane sigil in the air with a piece of cured leather, and speaks a command word as he touched the door.
Green flame lashes out and surrounds the halfling, pulling him through the door as well.
From Torrin and Sylzet's point of view
Torrin places his bloody hand on the door with the intention of passing the gate. The blood sacrifice touches the stone and green flame burns along its path back to the wound on Torrin's face, and pain wracks into him (causing 10 psychic damage). Before the pain subsides, he is pulled, rushing towards the door that looks made of ash and smoke. There is a moment of darkness as he passes through the door, then he is standing in a vast corridor, the gate looming behind him. The corridor is at least 30 feet wide and tall, and 100 feet long, brightly lit by green flames that hover along the unmarked stone walls, like burning torches without the torch. At the end of hall rests a massive statue of a giant monster that seems all teeth and tentacles and claws, just looking at it seems to be uncomfortable and painful, and the eye wanted to look away.

On one side of the corridor (to the left as you look at the statue), the door there appears to be similar and yet vastly different to the massive door you've just passed through. Firstly, it's less than half the size, barely 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Secondly, while there are also insane scribblings in Abyssal on the door, they are arranged in a triangular pattern, at the center of which is the name Torizo. Finally, a glowing green rune has been scratched over top the name of Torizo. It is obvious that this rune is not a part of the original door design, and is not Abyssal in nature, but it is unclear the nature of the rune.
On the other side of the corridor, the door there has more scribblings, but very few by comparison. They are arranged in a simple circle with two lines of runes with no apparent meaning. In the center of the circle, the same glowing green rune has been scratched. There too, it appears unnatural and added much after the creation of the door.
That is all that you can tell before your perusal is interrupted by the arrival of Torrin, and Zanver, shortly thereafter.
Sylzet motions the greatsword at the rune. "...That way to the first one. ...Don't know what the rune does, but it isn't part of the door's intended design." She motions back behind her. "Same on that door, but no indication where it might go."
