The room feels almost sweltering after the cold outside. As Torrin opens himself to the small spark of divine that Bahamut has blessed him with, his senses are initially overwhelmed by the evil and fiendish present in all areas, and he struggles not to vomit with the sensation. Though it takes a moment, he is able to adjust to the powerful evil seemingly emanating from everywhere, almost recalibrating his senses. As he does so, he is able to recognize that the evil and fiendish waves coming from the statue, are more powerful by multiple orders of magnitude, than the background evil coming from everywhere else in the room. The notable exception is the ball of flame in the statue's hand, which gives off no reaction to your divine sense, which sticks out given how everything else feels so evil.
As Sylzet approaches the ball of flame, it flickers, as though recognizing something in Sylzet, but the flame does still feel hot.
She raises an eyebrow at the flicker. "What, are you recognizing the capacity for evil in me?" She mutters quietly as she lowers her hand. The woman leans in towards the flame and narrows her eyes. "Or are you recognizing that I am not evil like this place, regardless of my heritage..." She thinks she is speaking low enough that Torrin cannot hear her... But who knows, the paladin of Bahamut has shown an annoying capacity for competency compared to herself.

If the dragon born hears anything he keeps his thoughts to himself. he continues to stand at Sylzet's back. when the flames dance he looks back to her and says "use the knuckle bone, the warlock tailored these things to fit to him, and no others. If my suspicions are correct something of value should be hidden in those arcane flames"
Sylzet nods gently as she produces the knucklebone and holds it out towards the flame. That was what she was missing, she didn't make the connection. Yes, despite the knucklebone being the key to get into this room in the first place.

The statue appears made of a dark green stone, the color of patinaed bronze or dark jade. It appears to have a scrawny, long body and thin, but powerful limbs, all four of which end in wicked, bird-like claws. Its head, at the end of a long, hairy neck, has a vulture-like aspect to it, but with disturbingly human features that appear to alternately glare at the ball of fire and stare at it hypnotically. Its limbs are held hunched into itself as it squats awkwardly, while its thorned, feathered wings spread out wide behind it. As the heroes get closer, the stink of offal grows stronger, clearly coming from the beastly statue. (OOC: If you're interested, roll an Arcana check; Zanver Arcana: 18) The halfling offhandedly comments to no one in particular, "Hmm... it appears to be a statue of a Vrock... ugh, complete with smell."
When Sylzet raises the knucklebone towards the ball of fire, it seems to slow in its burning, like an oil lamp with its wick being slowly turned down. A second later, the fire sputters out and dies altogether and a leather bag drops with a soft thud into the statues hands. Sylzet's view of the statue's face is thus unimpeded by the fire, as she looks up from the leather bag to see the thing's eyes start to glow a sickly yellow. The stone gives a mighty crack and pieces off it fall off like flaking skin, revealing a living creature beneath.
"Oh go FIKE yourself, warlock!" Sylzet says, her Abyssal accent coming through quite clear as she curses... And attempts to snatch the bag before the fight truly begins.

Torrin lets out a Draconic curse as he spins around, instinctually bringing his shield up, trying to get it between Sylzet and the awakening Vrock. He winces as he does, made suddenly very conscious of his weakened state.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Regardless of what your initiative is, you'll have one round as the Vrock wakes up, please let me know where you are, using these grid coordinates. Each square is 10 feet, I won't hold too tightly to the tactical elements, just be clear if you're trying to do something in particular--e.g., staying within 5 feet of an ally, or moving such as not to provoke an opportunity attack, etc)
Sylzet quickly grabs the leather bag, immediately recognizing it as a bag of holding by its uniform weight and strange inertia.
(Zanver's Initiative: 4; two portent rolls 3, 4) "Faex!" the halfling wizard swears, and moves back (to square E8), nearly tripping into the lava before catching himself. He mentally scrolls through his available spells, and decides supporting the two warriors is the best option. In one smooth motion, he pulls a tiny vial of holy water from one of the many leather pouches at his waist and sprinkles it in the air while speaking a prayer in halfling. The drops sizzle as they hit the ground of the cursed Abyss, but the three heroes feel a comforting coolness settle over them, like a refreshing breeze on a hot summer day. You feel the power of Bless bolster your abilities.
((we were right in front of the statue, so like 5D I think))
Feeling the reassuring wave of bless roll over him Torrin thinks it would be best to make the creature feel the opposite. He runs his shield hand over his still fresh wound, and flings blood spray at the vrock while reciting a draconic curse ((casting Bane , Cha Save 14 to resist)) after he stands, shield in hand ((I'm going to use the protection reaction if the statue attacks Sylzet, imposing dis. if Sylzet is within 5 feet of me))
(like, yeah, D5, within 5 feet of Torrin is fine.)
She grits her teeth and mutters a few words, and a cluster of smoky snakes seem to emerge from the smoke rising from her armor and fade to translucency around her, clearly expending a spell to protect herself, before Readying a Booming Blade to hit the Vrock when it moves to attack her... The thunderous purple energy thrumming along her glowing Greatsword.
(Shield of Faith up: AC is now 20.)

The Vrock breaks from the stone with an unnerving screech, yelling it's displeasure. (Both of you are within 20 feet of it, so you need to make a DC 14 Constitution Saving Throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn--don't forget your extra d4 due to Bless. While this isn't technically an attack, I think it would still trigger your readied action Sylzet, so you may make your attack, while it is screeching).
Its high-pitched voice is full of hatred and malice as it screams, "Where is the warlock?! I will tear his flesh and suck the marrow from his bones! But first, I will bathe in your blood and feast upon your entrails!"

Sylzet's blow scratches across the falling stone skin, but not doing any perceivable damage to the Vrock. The demon screeches again, though this time without any supernatural force behind it. It stands to its full height, easily 8 feet tall and powerful, but unnaturally thin.
It shakes itself, almost like a dog coming out of water, shedding stone flakes as it does so, the putrid stench of offal increases tenfold. It lashes out at the two paladins before it, slashing with a wide talon at Sylzet, and biting down towards Torrin (Attack roll towards Sylzet 4; Attack roll towards Torrin 14). It appears to be moving somewhat slowly, as though sitting for so long has caused it some problems. It slashed towards Sylzet but that seems to throw it off, such that, even though Torrin appears stunned and unmoving, its bite comes nowhere near the dragonborn's body. Its beak snaps closed and it shakes its head in confusion, having thought the fight was over before it began. Torrin shakes off the effects of the screech.
Zanver, over thirty feet back, watches as the creatures awakes. He makes a gesture with his hand, a quick snap of his fingers, and the sound of a dolorous bell fills the air around the Vrock (Vrock's Wisdom save: 13), but it appears unaffected.
(OOC: Torrin and Sylzet have the same initiative, so go whenever).

Sylzet's blade moves forward in a powerful thrust, she can feel it starting to miss when her blade tip suddenly pulls itself to the right and plunges itself into the demon, which screeches in pain.
"Eat you! Cut you! Smash your bones! Slice your flesh and Poison your blood!" screams the vrock as it shakes its wings releasing a cloud of spores. The demon flies back and up to A6, about 20 feet up, yelling in anger and still trying to shake off its discoordination.
(OOC: Torrin, please make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw against the poison spores, Sylzet is immune. Sylzet, please roll your booming blade damage as the Vrock moves. Both of you can use your reaction to make opportunity attacks if you wish.)
Zanver makes another snapping motion with his finger while speaking a word of power and another dolorous bell rings out around the Vrock (Vrock wisdom save: 15).
