"Nah your two pair beats my one! Well done again! Haha normally this is where I'd tell you your luck can't be beat and we should put a little money down but I don't cheat my friends." Quin says with a wink.
"What say we give them a little bit then go look for them? What do you think about all this Quiller?
"We don't need to burn it, we can simply pour it down into the outhouse. That will get rid of it safely and quickly." He knocks twice on the wall behind the bar, and shortly a young man comes out from the back room.
"Yes, boss?"
"Delart, could you take this and dump it down into the outhouse?" Mercer says as he hands the man the vial. When the man starts to return the direction he came, Mercer adds "No, not that one. We don't want the pigs getting high on this stuff. Use the one for the guests." Delart turns around and heads out the other direction, through a door in the side wall of the tavern. About thirty seconds later, he returns carrying the empty vial, which he hands to Mercer before heading back into the kitchen.
"You mean Vothralo? Oh, if, or rather when she passes through, it will be after we have met up with her in a different village - Springholde, in fact. But, it's safe to say we'll be back through eventually, at which point she can better identify the value of that particular item."
"Well, glad that is taken care of. Thank you for your help Mercer. Come now Balthazar, we need to confirm with the others about the statue." Lorgar then starts to get up, ready to get back to the rest od the group.
..... obviously arriving without any incident at the table where the rest of the group was waiting, Lorgar sits down and informs the party of what has transpired.
"So, the liquid was some sort of expensive drug, which is only good for getting us into a rather dark dungeon. It is already destroyed. Still no clue as for the statue. Balthazar is to meet some sort of contact in Springholde who might know more, and it is expected they should be returning this way. Mercer also knows this contact, and has offered to stash the statue untill the contact arrives."
Lorgar then pauses at this point and sighs loudly before he continues: "As far as I can tell, only truth was told at that table. I am convinced Mercer will not get rid of the statue on his own. I believe no one will be deprived of profit from the statue if we stick together, should there turn out to be any. So far we still hardly know anything about it, and it might turn out to be a worthless trinket, or some satanic idol of no use to men of virtue. With no profit to be made from it at this point, and the possibility of the statue getting us into trouble at the border, I believe it would be wise to take Mercer up on his offer. Does anyone object?"
"At a later time, I think. We found ourselves just in time in the midst of a net of their making, on their turf and neatly in their plans. Let's... yes, let's plan to return one day, soon, and offer suitable redress."
Quiller, looking none to happy, snarls, “I think I’d enjoy ripping their guts out and then hanging them by the neck until dead, then leave their corpses for the birds to eat.”
He shakes his head, “To think that this venture started out with such promise! So, across the border it is, and if I don’t see any profit. . .sigh, but I suppose it is better than what is going to happen to those two when I catch up to them.” He looks positively grim.

Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Quin scratches his chin as he contemplates the new information.
"Drugs huh? Hmmm....I wonder..." he ponders a moment before shaking off what ever thought had given him pause. "Well on to Springholde then. Leave the statue. Say you didn't happen to ask where these drugs might be obtained did you? Seems to me we follow them and we'll locate our missing employers. But that's talk for tomorrow. I for one am road weary. I'll see you all in the morning."
Quin rises and scoops up his dice. Nodding a goodnight to those assembled he leaves the room. He proceeds to inquire about accommodations and a bath. Unless he is sought out the rest don't see him until the next day.
Taking a moment to think about it, Lorgar realises that Quinn was right. Failing to ask Mercer more about the drug, such as a name, where it is normally made and what from, was a grave error. Such information might be usefull for finding out where the smugglers have obtained it. After seeing with the party that they are fine about leaving the statue with Mercer, Lorgar will return to the bar to inform Mercer that they will be taking him up on the offer of stashing the statue for the time beign. He will also spend a few coins on food and a bit of ale, while attempting to probe Mercer for more information on the liquid, his past life (for he was, and most probably still is, much more than a common tavern owner), the nature of his dealings with Balthazar, and news in the area. If Mercer ends up beign talkative Lorgar will get quite late to bed.
When asked about rooms, Mercer provides a range of rooms and prices "There are communal rooms that go for 1 sp a night, sparse private rooms that go for 2 sp a night. They are little more than a bed and a chest, with the room not much bigger than the bed. There are semi-private rooms, where 3 to 6 people can share a room. Those rooms are 5 sp a night. And, the private rooms range in price from 8 sp to 2 gp, depending upon how luxurious a room you want."
Quiller spent most of the evening just listening to the flow of conversation around him, as the evening goes stale he’ll suggest every one get one semi-private room. Saves on coin and is more secure than a single one. “Who knows how many folk around here are ‘interested’ in our doings, so we should be careful, even when it seems to be safe.”

Lorgar remaks "The semi-private room is a fine idea", coughing up his share of silver. He spends quite a bit of time at the bar, spending a few more coins stuffing himself with food and chatting with Mercer before hitting the bed. He has some ale, but doesn't do any heavy drinking.

(yeah, lukas is a bit bitter about being taken advantage of.)

Balthazar will share in the semi-private as well, glad enough for the company and retiring early to ponder the day's events.
