Davril shrugs, "I've no love for goblins, but I've seen men act with as much hate as they. Who knows, maybe we each hate the other for hating us. But none of that will help us find this hidden passage, let's keep moving."
Quin yells down the hallway, "Hey! I'm gonna check the rooms on the other side of the house!" He then crosses the tree room to the southern door that he had previously opened. Pausing at the hall entrance he reaches in and taps a few times on the wall. Then listens intently for any response noises.

OOC Unless you are inside, there is no need to roll to see how much daylight is left. With the roof missing from the tree room, it would be obvious to everyone how close it is to sundown.
IC As everyone enters the tree room, you can see that it is dusk. It will probably be completely dark within half an hour at most.
Tapping the ground with his mace, Lorgar can tell that there is space underneath the floor, but, no indication of how thick or solid the floor is.
Quin perception: 17
Quin does not hear anything from knocking on the door.
OOC I was trying to speed things with rolling perception for him, and, came up with that wonderful "1". Ugh!
"Night will soon be upon us. Since we have not found the entrance I suggest we leave this place for the time beign and return at daybreak to continue our search. It would not be wise to risk any nightly encounters this close to that accursed forest, and at the moment there is nothing to indicate anyone will come here and swoosh up our findings, for we have none but the murals. Vothrolo, do you agree?"
After a moments pause Lograr continues as if speaking to himself: "And maybe we can pick up a sledgehammer while in town, just in case we don't find a door to the basement...."
"You know as much as I'd like to sleep in a bed tonight I feel like we're close. Maybe we should stick it out for a bit." interjects Quin.
(OCC:I know I've sort of changed his mind but I'd like to propose something. We might as well stay because unless we have an actual encounter back in town we're just going to roll play going to bed, getting up and coming right back here. Now I'm all fore that if somebody wants to but I don't really see any other reason to. I suppose we could do a bit of fast forward and ask our DM nicely to please time jump us right back here. Again only if there isn't anything someone wants in town or a rest.)
Perhaps, as we return to the town, Balthazar might raise a question, favoring heading back to the village but now curious.
"Do you suppose that some enchantment might become obvious in this area at night, Quin? I would assume that it would only draw out more of the beasts that seem to overrun this place."
"Would you not have noticed it with your detect magic? Besides, if it really does lure out every beast near the site we would probably have been overrun, weakened already from the earlier encounters. If we end up in better shape tomorrow at sunset we will check it out."
"And Lukas, you asked earlier hoe I perform my magic, but we never had the chance to talk about it due to the rat swarm. My magic is not my own, but a gift from my god Helm as reward for my devotion. As long as I live according to The Watchers teachings and honor Him in everything I do He blesses me and answers my daily prayers with renewed spells. There are many forms of magic in this world, and not all are divine in nature. For example, our friend Balthazar here casts his spells as arcane, having learned the rights how to pull on the threads of The Weave to lure some of its magic to our realm. But what I do not know is how the lady Vothrolo prepares her magic, for I know those salves are not merely crushed herbs. I have already felt the gift of magical healing and know how to distinguish it from a mere ointment."
OOC I am fine with a fast forward too. Just wondering, is there a place we might pick up a sledgehammer in town with us arriving so late and getting out early? If so, Lorgar will buy one, no real rp-ing it needed.
The party heads out of the ruins and back to the town. Vothrolo notes that the Crowing Rooster has no rooms available, but, she has made arrangements for the party to stay in a small cottage within the village. There are six mats on the floor that the party can use as beds. Vothrolo also has a large bag filled with some supplies stashed in the cottage. After a dinner at the Rooster, the party retires to their cottage, except for Lorgar who heads to the church. In the hut, Vothrolo pulls out a couple bags of herbs and places them in a pot of water, which she then places over the fire in the cottage.
The half-elf leaves the pot simmering overnight. In the morning, the cottage is filled with a pungent herbal scent. Vothrolo, when she wakes up, starts spooning paste out of the pot and filling up a small, ceramic container.
Pulling a pan out of the bag, the half-elf then begins to cook a oatmeal for everyone’s breakfast. After breakfast, Vothrolo heads over to one of the neighboring cottages and returns with a sledgehammer. “Old Doty has kindly agreed to let us borrow his sledgehammer. We’ll just have to return it when we are done with it.”
About an hour or so after sunrise, the party finds themselves standing in front of the ruin.

(OCC: edit. Didn't realize we all posted about the same time heh.)
Quin claps his and together in anticipation and exuberantly, "Today's the day! I can feel it!" He sets off with a definite bounce to his step. This time instead of going all the way to the tree room he heads to the door on the north side of the entry way. In his exuberance he throws caution to the wind and opens the door, stepping quickly to the side as he does.
(If the door opens away from him he will simply step to the side. If it opens towards him he will make sure to position himself behind it. Either way he will use the hide action.)
"Perhaps. Then again, perhaps the wolves grazed upon grass in those times, instead of devouring flesh like they do now."
Davril shrugs, "I've no love for goblins, but I've seen men act with as much hate as they. Who knows, maybe we each hate the other for hating us. But none of that will help us find this hidden passage, let's keep moving."
"aye."

"likewise."
Davril shrugs, "Fine, but if we're going we should go soon. Best not to be traveling through these ruins in the dark."
"understood. All right, we move to the town then?"

(I'm good with either sticking it out or a time skip to morning when we've returned, either/or.)
OOC I have no trouble with doing a time skip to morning for stuff like this. Let me know how the party wants to proceed.
(i'm all for a time skip, but won't raise a fuss if outvoted.)
(Time skip is good!)
